Like the tile says: do not judge me! I have never smoked -- ok on the one or two occasions I was very drunk and my judgment want on point -- not the point. Point is, I have been fascinated by this "vaping" phenom for a while now. I wouldn't use any nicotine whatsoever, which most say is pointless because people have tried to stop smoking for years until this came along. I really only want to do it when it comes to driving. I have high anxiety when driving and I've tried gum, which hurts my jaws, I chew tic tags but it's taking a toll on my teeth. When I drink, i want to do something besides sit there. To me, smoking a cig is disgusting. It tastes bad, smells bad, and I've seen lung cancer take away a very close loved one. I've had a few pulls off of my brothers ecig and it tastes good and works like the "office water cooler" in social situations. Question is, would this be something you would recommend? Especially for the driving anxiety part?

I have anxiety issues as well.
No longer smoke ciggs for semilar reasons.
vape has helped alot, beats smoking stinky ciggs.
At bars yeah dont see many whom vape.
Curious onlookers though and die hard cigg smoker seem not open to trying new things.
Had one girl tell me that I was trying to show off.
They can drag their knuckles all they want.
Vape is the future.
Anxiety? I say go for it.

Sure. I don't see why not.
I think part of the hesitation to recommend it to non-smokers is the similarity it has to actual smoking.

As long as your not using nicotine, I don't see an issue with it.

Part of what kept me smoking as long as I did was the oral fixation of it. Vaping really did satisfy that for me.
While I don't have driving anxiety, I'm assuming that this could help.

There is nothign wrong with wanting to try vaping. You can pick up a very cheap starter kit and get a 0 nic flavor of juice you like. If you don't like it, then no foul, you haven't spent much. You could try the disposibles that are sold at gas stations, but most of those do not come in 0 nic. To use 0 nic you will need to purchase a tank and juice. Feel free to ask more questions. That's what this forum is all about.

It is a choice you must make on your own. If, like any habit might, it begins taking up more of your time and money than you first thought it would. Would you be okay with that?

If other side effects might develop from your vaping habit, are you prepared to deal with those too?

As with smoking, vaping is a choice we take or we don't. A smoker can blame tobacco companies for his/her choice to smoke and the adverse health effects all he/she wants. But they will still be ill!

It may become bigger than you initially though it would, if you can fully accept any and all of the possible
consequences then I say "welcome to the forum fellow vaper" Cheers.:vapor:

First off there is no judgment, so as for whatever brings you to vaping there are plenty of what is referred to as "NAKED VAPERS" these are those that vape no nicotine ejuice. As far as for driver's anxiety, I would say that as long as you weren't cloud chasing while driving there's no reason why you couldn't use this as a form of relaxing while driving. I vape while I drive but I'm not blowing major clouds that would impede my ability to see or safely navigate. I would say that a vision spinner I I with a nautilus mini tank would do you fine unless you drive for a living then I would suggest a I-Stick 50 watt just because of the large battery capacity and a full size nautilus. I hope this will ease your mind some and steer you towards a couple devices that may work for you. Welcome to ECF and if I can help you further drop me a PM.

Sorry - I have very strong opinions about non-smokers looking into vaping. I'll tell you like I told others about smoking - Don't start. It is as habit forming as any other obsession/addiction. It cost money that could be used more constructively.

If you do not smoke or are not an ex-smoker - then I encourage you not to vape.

^^This has caused more anxiety while driving... that darn vape haze that doesn't go away!^^ :D

On a more serious note... I don't have an issue with any adult that wants to take up any "hobby" no matter how risky it is.
I've seen the skateboarders at the local parks, skydiving... I've skydived myself, racing, rock climbing... there are far more riskier hobbies you could get involved with and nobody bats an eye. It doesn't mean that I agree with some of the hobbies they do and I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't have a problem with others doing it.

Of course, as long as someone understands the risks and had a good grasp on what could happen should something go wrong and accepts them before jumping in.
I'm thinking the whole battery safety thing... chute not packed properly, wobbly wheels on the skateboard...;)

Just do what you want. There's no point beating yourself up over the small stuff.
I had anxiety issues when I was in school. Cigarettes helped to an extent, but killed my health in the process. Been vaping for nearly two years now, and I can finally ride full centuries (100+ mile bike rides) without running out of breath in the first 5 miles.

As long as you're an adult, I don't have an issue with any of it, including Nicotine. If you don't want it, fine, but what business is it of mine that you vape only nicotine free? And I certainly am not gonna come up and ask you whether or not you are using nicotine, and neither will anybody else. It's a great hobby. I will warn you that you might end up spending more money than you think. My hobby escalated quickly! And I don't regret a minute of it.

to ecf MintTwist08. Nice to meet you and so glad that you are here. My responsibility to all that I try to help is to offer them suggestions, recommendations, reliable information and most of all support. There is no judging involved on my part. That being said, I would suggest however that you stick with the 0 nic. There is no sense adding something that you are not addicted to in the first place. Even though I believe nicotine to be no more harmful than caffeine.

I do want you to be aware that vaping is an addiction all on its own whether nicotine is involved or not. I enjoy vaping. There is no way I could just vape socially. I believe there really is a hand to mouth factor involved in my addiction. Vaping can be done on a relatively inexpensive budget. And there are so many options available today for someone that does not have unlimited funds. Out of all the different things I have tried in the last year and a half, it is hard not to recommend the mvp2 because of the fantastic battery life and the ease of use. I have read many positive things about the ileaf istick. I would look at YouTube's reviews on both. And I am sure you will see some more great suggestions here on ecf.

As far as anxiety while driving, I find vaping very relaxing. If upset I find it very comforting. I hope this helps you because I think it is a better alternative than pharmaceuticals if it works for you. Good luck to you and I really mean it. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate asking here. There may be those that will judge you. But the ultimate decision is yours and I support it as long as you are making a well informed decision. Joining ecf tells me that you have and I applaud you.

Thanks all. Yes I am an adult. I'm nearly 27. I see all the "we aren't going to judge" posts about the 0 nic and I only put that I asked for no judgement because when I came across this site on Google, I specifically googled it for non smokers and some people literally ripped this person apart. I didn't want that to happen to me. Thanks all. My husband is wanting me to drive 7 hours away soon (some of that time through Dallas) and I don't drive in heavy traffic especially in Dallas. I also have terrible anxiety about heights, overpasses, speed and long bridges. So it may help with the driving anxiety and no tic tacs or broken teeth. :)

The addictive substance of smoking is nicotine, make sure you get zero nicotine e-liquid and I don't see any problem (as long as you are +18) to start vaping. I do not think that people who vape are more likely to smoke, in a younger peer pressured crowed I would actually expect the opposite because nobody knows or cares if you have nicotine in your vape.
Just because you eat brownies does not mean you eat ......... brownies either.

If your anxiety stems from driving, maybe look at ways to alter your driving experience.
Examples: slow down a little, increase your following distance, use the right hand lane, avoid large cities during rush hour, taking frequent breaks etc...
Also, starting a new 'hobby' can be a good thing.
However, even at 0 nic, one might (should?) assume vaping to be a habit that is greater than zero on the risk scale.
How about trying toothpicks? Soft music?
