This is merely a recommendation for you to find a supplier you can use or local vape shop :) Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 VV/VW Mod Starter Kit these mods last a long time.
Innokin iTaste VV V3.0 Express Kit good for out and about

Kanger Aerotank atomizers for great flavor/vapor, goes on top of the mod (holds the e-liquid)

Kanger ProTank/Aerotank Replacement Heads (5-pack)

This is a great pkg for a beginner struggeling. Don't be so hard on yourself. Everyone does it at their own pace. It took me 6 wks to fully quit smoking. Just remember, each cigarette you eliminate is one less. These are examples that have helped others quit. You also need to find a liquid you enjoy. Getting the right combo of liquid and device is key. How many mg does the bottle of liquid have listed on the bottle ? How much did you smoke in cigarettes in a day? Does your liquid contain nicotine?

Ah, so it came with a bunch of replacement coil thingers. I asked a buddy of mine at work who has been vaping for awhile when to change it. He said you just know because instead of delicious grapes or whatever flavour you're using, it starts to taste like burning tires... Suppose there may be better advice?

That is actually the only advise that is logical. If it doesn't taste like how it's supposed to be, then it needs to be disposed of. On average, coils usually last 1-2 weeks with normal/regular use. (for me about 1 1/2 15ml bottles of ejuice if I was still using clearomizers)

No, that's about it. As you use a coil it gets gunked up. Most of your liquid turns to vapor but some of the flavorings and sweeteners build up on the coil and wick. Eventually that build up starts burning off while the coil is trying to create vapor at the same time. When the vapor production drops and things start tasting harsh/burnt it's time to replace the coil.

Don't toss any "nasty" coils out. They can be cleaned, and if you like to tinker you can even rebuild them. More on that when you are ready.

Hmm... Still a little confused about what they sold you. I went a-searching for Kanger EVOD kits. I can't find one that comes with the EVOD variable voltage batteries. This is an example of what comes in an EVOD kit with fixed voltage batteries: Kanger Evod Starter Kit - Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes

But you said it was a kid and it was late in the day and... maybe he got things screwed up and you got a free "upgrade" by getting the VV batteries instead?

I dunno. Sent the husband to get another... You see we thought just one battery each would suffice! He met with another guy and bought another kit just for me and it was the same.

The box is all customized with the store logo on it. Maybe they're doing some kind of custom order? Who knows. I'm afraid to order online myself, credit card info and like i mentioned Im in Canada so...the legal grey area. I don't really need anything seized by customs. seems I paid a bit too much. oh well, they threw in some free nicotine juices.

To the person who asked - 24 mg. I was smoking 15-20 cigarettes a day. I'm thinking of getting some with much lower nicotine content so I can use it excessively when I want without overdoing it on the nicotine.

Pardon my typing - im on my phone and too lazy to use proper capitals and punctuation.

In the greater scheme it probably doesn't matter. But you could put up the question about what they sold you in the Canada forum and tell them the name of the shop. Someone may know the place and the kind of gear they carry.

Note: The basic rule in the Canada forum is you never "out" shops that are selling nicotine by mentioning the place sells nic. in the public forum - so the shop doesn't get in trouble for selling it. If you poke around the Canada forum you will see info can be obtained by private messaging if you need to find the places selling liquids with nicotine.

Pardon not necessary. Fully understood your use of colOUR and vapOUR. LOL.

Well, you've heard enough advice from us to soothe your vaping journey.

To recap:

Start low on voltage for a few hits then gradual increase to your desired voltage. When it doesn't take like the supposed flavor then you went too high. LOL.

Coils don't last forever. On average about 1-2 weeks or when the flavor doesn't taste the same anymore where it's unberable.

Battery in rotation: use one while the other charges.

24 mg is high, but it's great when you want that quick 'nic fix'. Social vaping would be suited for less nicotine to avoid od'ing. We all started high. We just kept on vaping and gradually got used to it and lowered our nicotine. I started at 18mg; 2 years later I'm at 6 and staying at 6.

We're here for you. Just ask away and someone will be able to help you out.

(You really need to find out the resistance (ohm) of your coils) LOL

Oh, the Canada thing!!! That drives me nutz and I don't even live there! lol I'm not trying to shove you off - honest - but the Canada sub forum is where "all that" gets discussed. It's not so much a legal concern, but Customs being so durned flaky. You can never tell if something is going to get seized, when Customs is in "the mood" or not, and whether it's liquids that will get seized or hardware. Or both. It's really crazy - most times you can just 'walk' it across the border, just don't dare mail it. Huh? If Customs only had a consistently applied policy - which they don't.

Ok, this is another reason why vaping works: The flexibility.

For my first four months of vaping I used two different nic levels. I started the day at a higher nic level, and for some reason those last couple hours before bed time were a craving fit for me. You get to play now. Change it up several times a day if you need to. Change it any time you want. Even a different flavor can be enough of a distraction to get you through a craving fit.

One of the hardest things about this process is finding your own personal nic level. Too little? You will be chain vaping and still having serious cravings. Too much? Feeling anxious or jittery, palpitations, difficulty sleeping. If you overdo it it's nothing to have a freak-out moment over. Just put the PV down and your symptoms should settle out within about two hours.

This is a big read, but it covers a lot of ground regarding possible symptoms when you are switching: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/health-safety-e-smoking/3305-list-symptoms-when-quitting-tobacco-changing-ecigarette.html
