I am ashamed to admit I got sucked in by one of these "special offers"

I had already been thinking of trying e-cigs as a way to get off of actual cigarettes due to a heart attack and stent placed in my heart in June 2010. My cardiologist has been on me hard about it and I fully knew the risks involved but after smoking since age 14 (I'll be 44 here in a couple of months) my favorite saying is, "Quitting is easy. I've done it a hundred times." (tongue placed firmly in cheek)
In the past I've tried everything including the gum (ew!) the patch (smoked with patch on... do NOT do this!) and the inhalers which were the only things that even came CLOSE to helping me quit. However in the end.... they failed as well. OR rather, I failed myself. Then e-cigs came along and with them the controversy. I struggled over whether I should give them a try. Then more massive cigarette taxes hit and then my heart attack. Something had to give. In essence, I was going broke smoking myself to death!! (from my point of view anyhow) Blood pressure was out of control and they wanted me on BP meds. Nasty side effects ensued. That was it.
One day I stopped to get fuel and saw an E-cig display. I spent over 30 minutes pondering over which kit I should buy. They weren't cheap! Finally made the plunge. They tasted horrid but I pressed on. Cartomizers were outrageously expensive and discovered going to their web site to buy "accesories" was worse!!!! Started doing research (yes, I did things backwards didn't I?) Stumbled across some "Blog" which touted the joys of quitting smoking by a certain e-cig and wow, only 2 days left on this FANTASTIC offer!! $4.95 for an entire kit???? Man, I better jump in this now!! ( I really am an intelligent woman who never falls for internet scams..... uh.... guess I can't say that anymore, yes?)
Went to their web site after kit arrived and spotted some "opt out" stuff since they never did send me the e-mail they were supposed to after I ordered their kit. (Discovered they never do, how convenient!) When I opted out THEN they sent me an e-mail stating I was now responsible for the FULL $109.95 charge. WHAT?????? (choke, gasp, wheeze) Not one to take this kind of stuff lightly I called up their CS and threw a FIT!! Got the charge down to a more reasonable $49.95 in less than 5 seconds which tells me many people call up extremely upset and their CS reps have the power to drop the cost in a flash.
Tried another e-cig set of cartridges I discovered at another tobacco store nearby. They gave me a screaming migraine and tasted even WORSE than the first set I bought. The only plus about the scam online order is their cartridges were filled with some
e-liquid that tasted HEAVENLY!! The first 30ml bottle of
e-liquid I ordered from them had the same taste. Now they have changed manufacturers or formulas or something because that lovely taste is GONE. I would do anything to find that stuff again. I had almost QUIT regular cigarettes completely (2 and a half packs a day to 4 cigs a day max) with the good tasting e-liquid. Now I am back to smoking and rarely smoke the e-cig. On the hunt now for good tasting e-liquid again I suppose. Sigh.
I have spent well over $650 in the past few months by the way on this stuff between several companies trying to find "the magic e-cig" again. Wish I would have found this forum sooner.
