Do Not Order "Free Trials"!!!

i did initiate an order for a "free" starter pack thinking nice to have a spare around. small town here. got to the end of the process AFTER giving my credit card info, AFTER!!! was told it would renew at $29.00 per month. if i wanted to cancel, would have to call a customer service number which wasn't a valid connection. wow. i was caught in a very bad position here as my disability is below poverty. (l fell off horse, hurt my neck). had stopped smoking, stopped drinking cola products, became primarily a vegetarian , took up yoga , drink 8 glasses of water a day, and vape. buyer beware! i also researched eliquids, finding one purporting US / UK created, combined, manufactured (guaranteed no overseas or third-world, cost-cutting, it is publicized widely, "nothing is free." or "if it's too good to be true , it probably is." when i told the girl (first account, above), "I didn't order refills! she kept on talking! i loudly said, "shaddup a second . . .!" to which i was greatly admonished. luckily, i was able to track this company from San Diego to NY, NY, talk to someone who talked to someone who looked at my post on a scam-complaint website and reversed the free (haahha), shipping $4.99 that translated into $99.99 when i looked at my bank ding 15 minutes after the call. Whew! Also had another unfortunate incident ordering from the coolest website, got two trial bottles, easy to navigate site, got $17.99 order in two days, wouldn't vape. got laringitis, ruined two pens and automizers in this process. forums are wonderful for educating. read everything you can find. initial "learning curve" can be high. i havent had a cheat puff off a cigarette for 0NE YEAR! forgive the keyboard errors - tablet should have studied before i bought.) smiles 4 miles

Most new people I meet hear about e-cig's from me, avoiding "free trials" is the first advice I give, most companies send buisness cards with the orders, and I usually keep a few on me to hand out. AVEJuice, FSUSA, LitecigUSA, GotVapes, TW. Begginers usually can't go too wrong being given those referrals, although I think TW is a bit over priced, you can get all the same things at LitecigUSA and end up paying half...

I ordered from a company, starting with an R, which I shoulda figured would be lotsa trouble BC I was linked to it from a transparently fake warning article that had a special offer to get a trial (technically a starter kit and not.listed as free at all. But they used the same wording convention like "if not satisfied simply call to cancel." Yes, it did list that I had 14 days to TRY it but I figured the suckers were the ones who forgot to call or didn't set a reminder like I do. It mentioned if you do NOT call to cancel in 14 days you pay $119 for the kit and are charged $59 (I think)
For a months supply, every month for 5 cartometers.

OK, I don't subscribe to auto payments for anything and I do not join clubs of any kind, not even F2F. But I had read the fine print and I knew what was going on with this deal. Either icd try and cancel or love it so much i'd sign up for the convenience. Never gonna happen.

Don't worry this story has a happy ending and advice on how to handle these coniving then cheating scam offers. So I got the kit - nice quality and sophisticated - yep, expensive looking. When I called to cancel 5days later, they enquired about me returning the kit and I said no I was not paying for shipping back to them especially when I never agreed to do that when I accepted the kit to try their cigs. They pint to the dreaded Terms, which I'd already looked over while I wired on God for someone to take my call (yeah alreadty aggravated ~ duh, I just quit smoking .......s - I am not in the mood)! Haha.

Well thy say that in section 4 I agreed to return the kit. Now what if I'd already turn the crap away BC of the nasty tobacco flavor?? NOW IM GETTING ...... OFF. I said how is it I didn't read this before I gave my info? All smug they say well you checked the box saying you read the Term. OK now I'm the dumb jerk who doesn't what she's taking about. And now I'm the sucker now. I murmured tongive me the RMA nuber so I coud send it back.

BUT how HAD I missed that details. I never have before. What gives? So I go back thru the process to sign up and LO AND BEHOLD they is NO check box and I didn't agree to the Terms afterall. Except for the 6 lines listed on the sign up page with the info I mentioned above.

So, yes, dear reader you would be correct in interpreting that to mean that they straight you lie to you to get you to accept your lack of trial offer sophistication and to steal your money.

I Told them to write a little note in my file that I wouldn't be returning .... and that i'd be contacting my credit card company to get even the shipping and handling I paid back from them. I held the better business bureau complaint card to my chest. They said but we gave ascreenshot of you clicking the button.

I said what kind of fool do you think you're talking to? What kind of fool are you? I was a computer analyst for 10 years and that's not even possible! Then I laughed out loud. And they said hold on while I talk to the manager.
They came back and that i'm all set with not returning and the accounts been cancelled. Have a good day.

Do NOT just acccept these under-handed techniques used to ft you to hand over your Monet tothem. Its still your money. Because if they could outright steal it, they definitely would and not bother even talking to you much less trying to trick you. They rely on you being good ntured enough to accept that you are dumb and powerless and hand over your money fair and square.
That is the part that is so infuriating. And now I'm determined to do anything I can so they don't succeeded.

Guess who got my $119 is? Then i consciously and purposely purchased a kit from a dealer that wad upfront with me. 'This is what we have to sell. Would you like to buy it?' Why, yes, I woyld.

I refuse to be bullied and patronized when I did my part and followed the rules.
I recommend you do the same. Do not hand over your hard earned money because they had in their contract that you agreed buy the Brooklyn Bridge from them! You are NOT powerless.

PS don't use a repaid card with a low balance either BC they will make sure you ennoug to pay for the whole kit before putting the order through. And you will get the same lies. Better yet, do like the poster wrote ~ avoid. But if you've already done it, call your credit Carl's company now. Even if this was a year ago. Its called a charge back in some instances.

It's great that you fought back, KumariHPX. One other thing that these scammers fail to tell you is that your 14 day trial period starts when your order is processed, NOT when you receive your product. It is conceivable, especially for those living outside of the US, that you won't even receive your product until the trial period has already expired.

I dont know honestly. I guess to stay out of trouble i wont mention the website, but I get my e-liquid from a site that has a regular compassion program. i agree that most time a trial or anything asking your credit card is shady - but I wouldnt rule out all acts of benevolence as a scam. basically this place just sends a coupon code at the end of the month to its newsletter subscribers to buy whatever e-liquid is leftover after each week's batch. i've received probably ... 20 bottles to date? all 15ml plastic (one time it was glass) and it has never costed me a penny. in fact i never even put my card in for them - the postage was even paid. (though to be clear i have also BOUGHT things from them, separately) - and i received everything.

so in short from my experience: there are pretty unique, nonprofit companies or e liquid collectives - you just should know the right one. and the best way to tell: it doesnt want your credit card for something 'free'

I wish I found this forum before I got suckered into a "free trial" I was suppose to pay the $4.95 & that was all, 2 weeks later the company charged my card $109! I read the website 5 times & saw no "FINE PRINT" about $109, was suppose to be strictly $4.95 & further investigation, i found a website that ALOT of people were scammed by the same company. Although I canceled my card but some people are out HUNDREDS! I spent $109 which was a lesson learned, so please do your research & don't fall for those "free trials" cuz believe me THEY AREN'T FREE!
