16-18 mg, about 6ml's a day. However, I had been a long term smoker. I was diagnosed type 2 with probably 15+ years of smoking already under my belt. I assume that my medications and shots possibly "dialed out" some of the possible impacts and that vaping didn't necessitate a change. Thats just a guess though. Actually with the recent weight loss my numbers have gone down a bit. I will admit though that I am not as good at control as I should be.

You all got me wondering so I did some preliminary looking. I choose sites that I had at least heard of, but don't know if they are authorities:

The Effects Of Nicotine On Blood Glucose Levels | LIVESTRONG.COM

Nicotine and Blood Sugar a Dangerous Combo

Looks like the latest I found from march is that lab tests show an increase but it hasn't been peer reviewed yet.

My father quit smoking after 50 years. He's 67. Quit about 1 yr ago. His sugar levels were really low when he quit. Now they've leveled off - he's on a pump and had to do some basil rate adjustments etc. But for a while there he was having some crazy scary lows.

I'll tell you guys the truth. You can get yourselves all worked up about this stuff..but unless you are preparred to give up nic..there's no use worrying about it.

Smoking or vaping you are getting nic. At least with vaping you are not also getting the 40/11 other chemicals! I remember reading something about other chemicals piggybacking nic into our lungs and cells. Without the other chemicals nicotine cannot absord as well. I also read that we lose at least half the nic we vape in the exhale ..again because those other chemicals are not there to let the nic get absorbed quickly.

I eat tomatos, green peppers, hot peppers and potatos. All of those contain nic. So if you are really worried about nic...NO SALSA for YOU! LOL

I think the hard part of testing would be finding someone with diabetes with uncontrolled blood sugar. Those are going to be the folks that will show the greatest fluctuation in the fastest time. However, those are also the folks that many "external" factors also affect them easily. Would be hard to tell what is really causing the jump. While uncontrolled I can bounce 100 points Thinking about a life saver (okay okay, a stretch) but there are just so many variables.

Being that a fasting blood sugar should be 90-100, and about 180 (Max) 2 hours after eating (rough guidelines), I would wonder what a significant jump would be? I would assume it would be best to do a 12 hour fast, test, and vape for x amount of time, then test again right after vaping, and two hours later? Or maybe the two hours is digestion time for food. Hm.... this is interesting to think about.

All in all I am not too worried about it, but its and interesting thought expeiment to think how you could test this without a lab.

I don't vape dessert stuff -- but the V4L Virginia Menthol I like is pretty sweetish. It seems to have had no effect on my waistline or ..... (Or the scale!) However, I may be unusual because my diet consists completely of animal protein, vegetables, nuts and fruits. I eat no grains, starchy roots, dairy products, sugar (other than what is incidentally in fruits and veggies) or legumes whatsoever. So my diet is way out of step with the typical American diet and as a result the vaping might not affect me in the way it would if my diet were more typical.
