My first RDA I bought was a Mutation X. It's exceptional and I'm still a new builder. Airflow, deep juice well, dual coil. It looks sick and it just plain vapes like a champ.

Did I start off with one of, if not THE best RDA out there? I can't imagine one performing better than this.

In addition to the MX, I use a kayfun 3.1 clone by hcigar, and it's not getting much love. The vape is just so much better off a dripper.

I was thinking about getting a second MX, or the v2 or XL to accompany it. Should I bother trying other brands or stick to my awesome Mutations?

I don't have one (yet, am tempted) but by most accounts the Mutation X is a good dripper, some say very good.

What kind of device and coil builds have you tried?

I reckon I can fairly safely say that with more experience in building you'll probably get an even better vape out of it with time. There is quite a lot of variety in the styles of RDAs so some are better for flavour, some are better for clouds and so on. I have 6 drippers (all clones) and I think at the moment my overall favourite is the magma. That RDA gets a lot of love around here. Also really like the plume veil but it's a bit less user friendly so I use it less.

I am using it on an IPv2, with a 1.1 ohm build on it to take advantage of the full range of watts it's capable of. 28g kanthal, dual coil, 2mm @ 16/17 wraps I believe it was. It vapes fantastically, aligned with the air holes.

I was using VTC4 ripoffs (i think) and purchased some 35A Efests x 2 with a charger to test out. I also have my first mech on the way - a brass FT clone of the Sentinel m16. Very excited :)

I plan on sub-ohming with the mech. I am finding that I prefer 3 airholes showing (on each side) for improved density/flavor. Great stuff. I do open it wide open on occasion. I have a DIY kit that I made for ejuice and am excited to vape max vg / low nic juice with less throat hit. I can't take this 12mg juice!

Sounds like a solid build and enough power from that 50W device. It sounds like you've done very well for a first attempt.

With a mech you'll need to sub-ohm to get the same power as with the 50w ipv. 50W is equivalent (in theory) to about a 0.4ohm build on a mech mod with a fresh battery.

Be aware some are reporting that the 35A Purple Efests are not 35A continuous, that's their pulse limit. They are actually a 20A battery in the way we usually describe:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...17-purple-efest-batteries-not-advertised.html

Probably a good idea to check more thoroughly if your VTC4s are genuine or not, as if genuine they are a 30A battery.

@ 20 amps max, they're perfect for the IPv2. That's the maximum AMPS for that device ;)

Efest IMR 18650 2500mAh 35amp

these?

Yes have a look at the link I posted in my previous comment.

Essentially the 2500mAh 35A are actually 20A and the 3100mAh 20A are actually 4A - 6.4A.

I hate this kind of **** that is going on with 18650 batteries at the moment. Reporting the pulse maximum amp limit instead of the continuous, rewrapping batteries and just plain mislabelling them, and fake batteries swimming around on eBay and less reputable vaping shops.

I bought a purple efest 18350 700mAh 10A before reading this and while I haven't been using it near 10A anyway I probably won't be pushing it too hard until I read a test that confirms this.

The 18650 2100mAh 30A however appears to just be a rewrapped VTC4, so at least that has accurate labelling and is a decent battery. I will try and avoid buying any though out of principle unless I have to.

My first RDA was an authentic Plume Veil v1. I absolutely loved that thing.

I purchased a MuteX and since have not touched the Plume. It is that good! I just love the adjustability of the air flow. I typically run it with 6 air holes open on each side. However, when I want more flavor I close it down to only 3 air holes per side. Then, if I want to blow clouds, I'll open it up to 8 air holes per side.

The other feature that I was thrilled with is that deep well. I put 20 drops out of a glass dripper that comes with my juices. Nice long sessions.

Concerning build, I use 26g Kanthal with a 4/5 wrap around an approximate 2mm mandrel. Comes out to .32Ω.

I have a Magma and although I like it, I don't use it all that much. Just got some body piecing needles to try and fix the leakiness of it.

I recently received a Doge and it looks to be pretty decent. Haven't built it yet as I am waiting on their optional top cap.

So yeah, for me, it is a fantastic RDA and you can't beat the price. I gave $25 for mine. Paid $115 for the Plume. Go figure.

The mutation x is the best vape I have gotten from a dripper.... IMO even better than the plume veil....

The mutation x v2 is said to start shipping in the next month or so I would put your money there!

Mutation X V2 RDA - Authentic | VapourEyes

Oh wow! That's the first image I have seen of the v2. Nice improvements. They incorporated one of the features I loved on the Plume - that posi T-post. Sweet. I like the new design of the AFC tabs as well.

Too bad they are sold out atm.

Yeah man it looks awesome. Wider drip tip, and can be run in single coil as well. (Although I will rarely run a single coil). Definitely my next vaping purchase...

Now that you mention it, it is now a single/dual atty. I didn't even notice that. Of course, I'm like you, in that I only run duals on it anyway.

I need to find one of those in stock somewhere.

I wonder if they tightened it up any. I kind of like the top cap being somewhat loose but not the sleeve.

The mute x is a very good topper I own a couple of them but they are certainly not the best I also own a Doge with chuff top hat and a Dark Horse and both of these in my opinion are better the Dark Horse in my opinion is the better of the three the ones I own are all genuine so I can't speak for any clone types of the Dark Horse or Doge but I did have the misfortune of having a clone mute x sent to me and hands down it is the worst clone I've ever seen.

Please excuse the lack of grammar punctuation or any spelling mistakes I'm very dyslexic.

I like the look of the mute x v2 especially the glass jacket glass jackets are the way forward getting very hard to buy them now very rare.they look just so good.

Yeah, those glass tops do look cool. However, I'd be worried about the air flow though as they're all non-adjustable that I have seen thus far and am not sure how one would even be able to create a glass top with adjustable AF.
