Those issues are depressing the button several times (4-5) before it "fires." And having to depress the button very hard to get it to make contact.

Update: There are indeed button issues with the SP3 as there was with the SP2. Just as you described. I can't tell if its a button issue or atty is just not making contact. Either way it is very frustrating to have it fire when ever it wants to or not. My finger is killing me from trying to get the button to work. Can't use this until I get this resolved. I wrote to the company yesterday morning but I have not heard from them yet. Hopefully I will soon and can update you guys. I hear there customer service is top notch so I am sure they will address the issue.

Thanks. I appreciate the update. Stretching the spring slightly seems to help a little. I still use my Steampunk but not often. The button issue has definitely made it my backup instead of my main PV. I need to get SOME use out of the various protected batteries and charger I bought to use with it.

:)

Hopefully there is a good workaround.

Well I spoke with James McDonald and he does not recommend stretching the spring in these ones. Here is a letter he sent me concerning this issue today.

"The unit itself has been corrected in every way with the SP3 power regulator, but the Hybrid atomizer being a 510 voltage type has had trouble dealing with the 800mAh. We moved to this atomizer because customers demanded it, but we knew there would be issues.

I do not believe its the battery unit but I will replace it if thats what you think it is, and also send an atomizer as well. "

So I guess I will get the replacement in and see. At least there customer service is very fast and understanding! Plus the SparkPlug is awesome when it fires lol.

So is there a better atty we can use on these besides the 510?

I have no idea. I am going to see if I can get a cheap 801-510 adapter off of someone here and try one of my reg 510's. They are also releasing cartomizers soon so maybe thats what they are hoping to solve this issue. Did you have a problem with yours too Carpedebass? With mis-fires that is?

Me and my wife are considering getting sp3's. My only concern is the hybrid atty thing. Do I actually need to get an adapter? I've got some 510 attys, clearomizers and a map tank that I would love to use with it. There is not much info on the site. Can anyone give me specifics? It looks really cool.

Yes, you will need a 801 to 510 adapter to use your 510 gear.

You guys having problems, what batteries are you using? Also are you only having problems with stock atties.

I'm using the Sparki batteries that came with the SP3. My replacement atty and cartos (courtesy of James and the gang at Sparkplug for Smokers) should be here today. If that doesn't fix it, I'll see if they'll send me a new kit too. I just can't imagine anything being wrong with anything but the atty though...there's just nothing on there that looks like it would go bad.

Yeah I know... if I had known they would send me the whole kit I would have said no. Now I have to pay to send the old one back and probably for no reason other then a bad atty...
