Do you buy multiple devices of the same mod?

O-gosh! When I got serious about vaping (2011) the handwriting was on the wall. The FDA was loosing a law suit, (and that pizzed them off) and customs was holding up shipments, and the end of vaping was looming over our heads.
So I figured that the only way to keep on vaping, no matter what, was to become "self sufficient" . So I learned how to make everything I needed to keep on vaping.

Luckily over the next few years, some really great products hit the market, and I learned what it was like to "stock up". Still have 11 bricks of cartomizers, A dozen A7 RDA's. Plenty of Provari's, and Caravela's. (the day Pedro stopped making the Caravela in far off Portugal, HCigar took over, and made an equal quality clone in far off China)
But, the end result is that I will never have to buy a single thing, if I don't want too.

Likewise, although I came to vape-world about a year later.

Although I don't make my kanthal or rayon ;)

I will, eventually, need some PG and VG, and of course batteries need occasional replacement, but other than those, and the periodic restocking of food flavors, nope, won't need to actually buy anything else. Ever. Lots of nic on ice. (Not that the occasional shiny might get my attention, but that's want, not need ;) )

Im just curious has anyone ever liked a mod so much you end up buying another or more to have future backups?
Yesterday i walked into my local vape shop and what do i see?
I see they had 1 odin v2 left i right away bought it without thinking twice lol cause i kno this mod is currently sold out everywhere, but i already have a odin v2 its my fav mod tho maybe of all time even..
Anyway i couldnt believe my eyes as soon as i saw it.
Cause if i didnt it prob be very hard to get another one for at least a little while

Anyone else have done this with a certain mod they love?
I rly like odins form factor

When I have the money I buy multiples of everything that is working at the time.

I'm boring.... I bought several Geek Vape L200 mods, and several Vaporesso LuxeXR devices and all the bits and pieces. Haven't had any trouble with any of them so the next time that I get some cash I'll buy 3 to 5 more of each device.

Ever since I started vaping I had problems with mods dying. Probably the eliquid getting into the electronics. These devices have been going for well over a year. Not to jinx myself but I think they will keep right on working too.

It used to be that the technology was evolving so fast that old devices were a bit like old computers. It seems to have slowed down a lot though. The old way to maintain a foreign car was to buy 3 of em and use two of em for parts. It seems like a reasonable move. If mods become hard to get there will likely be a lot of it.

The really hard one is the nicotine. You can refine it yourself from tobacco leaves (or tomato leaves for that matter though it’s harder and more complex) pg is a standard food additive though and will always be cheap and available. Any restaurant supply store will have it. I buy my VG at fleet farm in gallon jugs. It’s also used as a cattle laxitive (would probably work fine as a human laxitive too. I’ve never needed one so I haven’t tried it). Cotton is cotton. About a third of a cotton ball is a pretty decent wick, (cotton balls aren’t actually balls btw they’re rolls. Just unroll one) though I understand the best anyone ever made is this artificial cellulose fiber stuff they use in Europe for wound dressing. I forget what it’s called. Flavorings are also easy. They just have to be stable at high temps. Flavorings are a safety weak spot. Iirc (which apparently I don’t always) one used flavorings that were baking safe. That’s only 450°f though and vapes get hotter than that. The only ones that have been certified above that temp were done by big tobacco and they were only interested in tobacco flavorings. This is the logic behind the “only use tobacco flavors!” Stuff that occasionally pops up. Someone else could certify other flavorings but afaik no one has bothered. The baking certification is good enough for most people. For wire you may have to eventually switch to stainless. Kanthal can be scavenged from old toasters but it’s janky and you get whatever diameter you get. The stainless steels are all marine grade stuff so they’ll be around as long as there are boats (so no worries) you can make an unregulated mod out of a flashlight. And of course there’s always 3d printing. Got to use metal filled filament (which is brittle and annoying. Also you have to bake it to remove the plastic so it shrinks like pottery) there will likely be vapers as long as there is civilization.

Perhaps. But hardware one likes may be a challenge to source. (Well stocked there as well, mods and the RTAs I use, and spare parts for those.)

And, viewing toppers as "devices", multiples of those. Makes it easier to have spare parts, and worst case a truly broken one may have use as spare parts as well.

Might want to consider building your nic supply sooner rather than later. It's not going to go down in price! Only up, as the FDA continues its fight against harm reduction.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away i found the perfect set-up for me. A Provari 2 with a Kayfun. I proceeded to buy eight Provaris, a whole bunch of beauty rings, alternative end caps and at least 20 Kayfuns .... I now use a (clone) Doggy on pretty much any single battery mod except the Provaris which are too underpowered for how i vape today.
The moral of the story ?
    No idea.
Except maybe - there don't appear to be that many duff mods produced nowadays (or alternatively, everything is much the same) so the imperative to stock up isn't what it used to be.

I got a couple of dozen KFL's when they were going for $5 to $10. Same with Provaris. I got one full price and then they started selling them off for $25 so I jumped in quick and got another 8.

I got a bunch of Lemos so I can vape with a little more power when I'm in the mood. Mostly for $10 or less. Stocked up on Picos and Solos.

If you didn't need to keep up with the trends or get fancy stuff you could stock up pretty cheap.

The moral may merely be this sort of thing happens a lot, and you’ve got some provaris to sell. I don’t remember how/if that is a thing here. Someone will know though.
