Favorite mod of All-Time? That's a tough one. I have owned a LOT of mods over the years. But I would probably have to go with my Smowell DPV-50.

When you look up "Fits Your Hand Like a Glove" in the Big Book of Commonly Used Phrases, you'll see a picture of this mod next to the description.

The foot in mouth problem you mention seems to be Me remembering the guy that died being killed by a provari. It is the way I remember it. Iirc he owned one. It might not have been what he was Vaping at the time though apparently. I put two and two together. If that qualifies as foot-in-mouth it is unlikely that it will ever be resolved.
It was an unvented tube mech mod, not a Provari.

I believe you posted in that thread.

Not sure if there’s a difference between an ego and an iGo.
Well, an ego is a brain disorder which makes you stamp your foot and yell at people when it was all your fault in the first place. An iGo is a style of antique vaping gear that doesn't have any glass parts or batteries. I've got one in my stash box somewhere. It never worked very well which is why it's at the bottom of the tub. I'll try to find some photos or links to clear up the difference.

Also there is more than one model of provari, though I know little about them.

I know a little bit about them. I have about 20 of 'em, dating back to 2012, and I've always got at least a few in rotation.

They definitely have vent holes (all versions) and, to the best of my knowledge, none have been the source of any "accidents". One of the (many) reasons they got out of the game is that the demand for higher power devices had gone well past their comfort zone for safety.

If they do it wasn’t for venting a cooking off battery (there’s another better more specific term but it escapes me atm. “Cooking off” describes the effect more or less so I’m going with it. I hate aphasia) though it was for something else. Old batteries just didn’t need to be vented. They had a different safety system. You can even see it. Modern batteries have holes in the connection points ol ones don’t. Just like letter system alkaline batteries. That whole safety system is too new. Now a hole made for another reason might well serve fine as a battery vent in practice. Sort of a luck out, but it could happen. There could be any number of reasons such a hole might be there. The one that came to my mind earlier was to make a close tolerance tube easy to insert a battery in. It’s just one possibility though. I don’t know the history of provari or what happened to the company. I just know it’s long gone. There’s probably an engineer alive out there who put the holes there and knows exactly why they are there, and it almost certainly reasonable. I don’t though.

This is the issue with naming batteries by size they fit in totally different things. 18650 are mm measurements. (18mm x 650mm) I have no idea what the measurements of a double A are.

The safety system is part of the problem. Old batteries were less energetic and a lot of times they just put in a thick wall to contain the battery if it cooled off. With a more energetic battery the case ruptures and its suddenly a hand grenade. A mech actually designed for the new battery safety system might be possible. I don’t remember ever seeing one though which implies it wasn’t.

As in ego, super ego and Id. It was also a battery size. Sort of. 14500 batteries generally. With a 501 connector and a button in a case, all in a pressed steel shell. They sort of looked like short cigars. They even made beauty “cones” for em to neck down to 501 dimensions. Towards the end they came in a lot of lengths. Where were shorties and ones that were as long as a cigar.

Jeez. I never knew what 18650 stood for, I don't know how I got along vaping for as long as I've been doing it.

    :rolleyes::facepalm:

Since we're at it, what's an atomizer?

    Carto tank?

    Taryn Spin?

    :pop:
I assume that was sarcastic. I am unsurprised. I figure most people especially on a site like this know it. It was just part of my train of thought so I figured I’d touch on it. I don’t know what taryn spin is. They’re much more well know now than they used to be. A lot of people are stunned to learn that an electric car battery pack is often a ridiculous numbe of them all wired together. They used to be in old laptop batteries too. If you got a thick removable battery in an older laptop good chance there are such things inside it.

Yes, it was sarcastic. I was going to ask if you realized that you were on a forum solely dedicated to these topics, talking to people who've been in the trenches for many years, many of us well over a decade. Most of us have learned more about batteries (and battery safety), than we probably ever wished to (until we began vaping).

Some of us might even know some other stuff too. ;)

    It's actually 18mm x 65mm.
The O designates it as a "round" battery.
    A 650mm battery would be over 25" long...:bluewink:

I do. Apparently I got it wrong too. I didn’t see a way to say what I wanted to say without it though. It wasn’t an attempt to school anyone. It’s just how I talk.

It seems everyone is doing this one.
English has the most words of any language but they still aren’t enough.

WHO is doing my double AA?!?

I hear that Kat has added the most words of any language to the English language.

    Klass 101 is taking sign-ups.

This made no sense to me at all. Not that it doesn’t necessarily make sense. But I couldn’t parse it.

Just so you know what an eGo looks like.
O and by the way ......... they were NOT 501, they were 510.
A 501 battery had external threads.
A 510 battery had internal threads.

add: Do you know what voltage they were???

Smoked my last cigarette the day I bought one of those.

For some reason I'm thinking they were fixed at 3.4v. I have NO idea why I think that, or where I recalled it from, but it's in my head for some reason.

Is that correct or were they 3.7?

    Now I have a brain ache. ;)
