I stopped smoking analogs when I got my first e-cig. The past few weeks or so I've started to think of myself as a non-smoker (and it feels gooooood). There are those at work, who smoke, that tell me I'm still a smoker because I use ecigs. I guess I could say I'm a non-tobacco user, but I'm identifying more and more with non-smokers, or ex-smokers. I vape..therefore I do not smoke...lol...something like that.
How do vapers see themselves? Would be interested to know.

+1 to that! And I've come across some people that don't accept that so I say Im an e-smoker or a smart smoker.

Wagner

ahh, I like 'smart' smoker! I actually think some of my co-workers are what? jealous? maybe not, but they tell me how bad e-cigs are for me and everything (which makes me laugh every time) Only my close friends and family support what I do because they know how hard it was for me to quit analogs. Well, they think it was hard (a lot of us know how easy it was!) and I'll let them continue to think how much I'm suffering...LOL.

Hi Jenny,

I will always think of myself as a smoker until I give up all forms of nicotine. I do feel e-cigs are a healthier alternative but I'm still getting the nicotine that I'm addicted to, just in a different form. Until I can kick the nic, I'll always feel like a smoker.

You are definitely on your way, Beckah.

I consider myself a vaper and not a smoker. Mainly because one has less of an effect on those around me than the others. When I smoked I forced others to put up with the smell and the smoke and the filth and the carbon monoxide and the stains (everywhere). When you're with a vaper, the worst you'll probably get is a whiff of Cherry or Menthol. Ask any smoker to get a paper towel and some Windex and clean their TV screen or window where they smoke. That's what's difference.

When I went to the dentist a few months ago (had to switch dentists) on their little questionnaire there was a box marked: TOBACCO USER. I checked: NO.

I think that says a lot by itself. The patch and the gum deliver nicotine. Does that make them smokers?

I understand what you're saying, Prof Daffy. But I'm inhaling this vapor into my lungs just like I did when I was a smoker. Maybe that's why I still feel like a smoker.
I still have to go the designated smoking area, so most places still consider me a smoker.
I have felt so guilty for smoking all these years, it will take a while to think of myself any differently.
I'm an addict and even when I have quit smoking before, I still always thought of myself as a smoker. Maybe because I knew how easy it was to go right back to a pack a day.
I'm a mess! What can I say?:)

I'm a vaperer but will never badger a smoker.
+1 on that (although I'd just say "vaper").

I think of myself as a smoker, not an ex-smoker. I identify with smokers (I still can't quite get used to "smoking" in the living room -- not that I'm complaining!). To me, vaping is just a healthier way to smoke.

Even if I quit nicotine altogether, I hope I'm never one of those guys who lectures smokers and brags about having quit.

But in my experience, those guys are rarer than ex-smokers who are cool with smoking, or even who enjoy a chance to get a little secondhand whiff.

For all intents and purposes, I consider myself a non-smoker now.

A smoker is someone who smokes burning vegetable matter and inhales that along with the burning remains of 4000 added chemicals. A smoker is someone who gets lung cancer or stinks or passes around second hand smoke to others.

I feel that I am a nicotine user, which to me is about the same as being a coffee drinker.
People don't ask you if you are a coffee drinker though.

Both, an ex-smoker because I used to smoke, and a non-smoker because I don't smoke. I vape so I'm a vaper. I couldn't care less whether I have 11mg of nicotine or none in the juice and I can't tell the difference. I can vape zero nic all day and stay happy, so when use the rest of my nic juice I'll prolly not get any more, because I've heard that nic can constrict blood vessels and I need all the blood I can get. :D

I am a vaper but will always be a smoker. I haven't had an analog in over 5 months, but think I would be untrue to myself if I thought the possibility wasn't there to begin again under the wrong circumstances.

I've had many friends, coworkers and acquaintances over my many years that thought they quit for as many as 32 years only to pick it back up again. I will always be a smoker and refuse to belittle or begrudge anyone who still smokes.

same here...since i have to go outside to smoke at work i still say ask "can i go have a smoke" rather than can i go vape for a bit it's just easier and its still nicotine so i haven't quit yet im just getting on my way to finally quitting
