Just wondering if this is happening to anyone else...I live in an area where vaping hasn't really caught on yet (I've literally never even seen a single other person doing it) and not a single day goes by that I don't get asked about it by a stranger. This has been going on for the entire 5 months or so that I've been vaping. 99% of the time it's a smoker wondering if it helped me quit.

What I've found is that I've become such a big proponent of vaping that I've become a small-time spokesman without even meaning to. At this point I get asked about it so often that I almost have "canned" responses to every question because I've given them so many times. I almost want to just type out a little pamphlet and carry it around with me to avoid having to write down all the suppliers I love and the best places to do research.

Anyone else find themselves having a similar experience?

I definitely find myself spreading the word. I haven't had too much of a chance to vape openly in public places, but when I do, I get a question or two everyday. I actually want people to put down their cigs and give it a try. I'll generally open with "e-cigarette" so they have an idea of what I am talking about, but quickly throw in the lingo. The funniest question I get consistently is "Does it help?" and I answer honestly..

Absolutely. I've never had success quitting and I've tried everything. I don't want a cigarette anymore. I don't think about smoking. And the smell of analogs turns me off. I don't know how many folks I've converted, but I know quite a few people ordering them for loved ones. One of my coworkers has her husband on his 2nd starter kit, looking for his perfect fit.

I love spreading the word. :)

The only time I was an Ambassador was when my wife changed over. In my area, most of the people who smoke are hard liners. Not only do they smoke but when they go into smoke shops, they buy heavy duty hi nicotine tobacco which they roll themselves. I really don't try to convert. I'm just busy making my own conversion. Just me, I guess.

I've become an Ambassador also! I live in an area that grows a whole lotta baccy; and when I vape in the parking lots of the little town I live near; I get questions and some really strange looks! (I have to be smokin happy stuff, ya know?) I answer a lot of questions and have talked several folks into switching from analogs to vaping!! The saga continues . . .

I purposefully vape in front of people who I know smoke. I want them to ask. So far, 5 of them have and 5 of them are now vaping instead - including my mom who is 71 and had smoked analogs for over 50 years! It really does work for nearly everyone who has the patience to deal with the adjustment period and the technical quirks inherent to all new gadgets. It makes me feel awesome that I've helped people to extend their lives, even if just a little.

My big sales pitch is that every cigaette they don't smoke, and vape instead, is another 5 minutes they've potentially saved on their life expectancy. I also find that the "look, if you really want a cigarette, you can have one and then go back to vaping" which is big with people who were around for the scare tactics big tobacco used after the patch came out - "don't smoke even after you take off the patch or you WILL die from a HEAR ATTACK on the SPOT!".

We all have a responsibility to do what we can to make the world a better place. Getting people to vape instead of smoke is one part of me trying to live up to that responsibility.

My first e-cig purchase hasn't even arrived yet, and I can see where I will end up as an "ambassador." Over 1/2 of the people in my workplace smoke, and most of them are net-savvy enough to order the products and use them correctly. I can see a spare battery or 2 in my future just for allowing "test drives" of e-cigs.

I've turned into an ambassador too. I've never seen anyone else using a "decent" e-cig and I'm out in smoking bars all the time (musician). I get asked about my PV's - eGo's & BigBro - all the time by smokers & non smokers. I usually let the smokers take a hit off of one of them to see how they like it. So far, they ALL show surprise and more interest, so I hand them an ECF card and tell them to come here and do some research to find a better device than what they've tried. I also tell them it's the easiest way I've found to get off the ciggies.

Yeah. A lot of people think they are cool. Nice conversation starter especially at work with the smoking crowd. A Good friend of mine I offered to lend him a bat and a couple cartoz for a day so he can give it a try. He was thrilled at the chance to try it out. After telling him what the initial cost and running cost was he was thrilled. Hell for about the cost of a carton you can get about enough to run for a month really. I find myself keeping a cart on hand that I have mixed up that I liked best the day I started. Because its different from what I like even a week into it. Just incase someone asks to try it.

I tried converting my brother in-law and my sister over thanksgiving dinner. They both tried a puff and coughed up a lung. Today my bother in-law was nicing and asked me for a couple of puffs. He took a couple and set it down I asked him if it wasn't his cup of tea and he said he was not sure

As far as strangers, I do it discretely in public.I don't want people walking up to me asking why I am smoking in a public place and then me having to explain its not cigarette smoke its water vapor. Then blah blah blah blah. Way to much work.

I've only had my PV for about a week and haven't had a chance (or the guts) to smoke in somewhere like a mall. I'll smoke it when standing outside, but just not comfortable with smoking it in indoor public places. Maybe because I am worried I'll get harassed by some disgruntled guard or someone else. :] But the people that have seen it and have asked have been really interested. Haven't converted anyone yet, but again, only been doing it for a week. :D It'd be great to introduce someone to it for sure.
