I vape everywhere execpt at my desk at work. I have received a few strange looks, but nothing negative. I don't blow smoke in anyone's face, and I respect their "space" if they want to be "smoke free", but vaping is NOT smoking in my opinion. I have had many people ask what it is, and then it's my turn to shine stating that I've quit tobacco use after 45 years! I'm proud of my accomplishment and more than willing to share my experience after failing to quit 6 times before. I even had friends and family convert from tobacco to vaping with great success.

I vape outside while walking. I vape in my home and in others' homes with their permission, outside if they are not comfortable, after all it is their home, much as I smoked, I vape.

I can vape at work, I have permission. I can vape in my steady guy's house and truck, where I couldn't smoke because I have his permission. That is neat.

Just me, but I do not see the need to vape on the bus, in the grocery store, Walmart, etc. I am a nicotine addict of perhaps epic proportions, but even I can get through a shopping trip without having the absolute need to vape. Not that I don't fire up the Ego when I walk out but to me, it just is not fair to others there, and if it makes even one person uncomfortable or makes people who vape seem obnoxious to others, it does a disservice to vaping and will result in restrictions being placed on vaping.

Just my two cents, but just because you can do something doesn't mean you should or really need to.

A lot of people feel that vaping where you can't smoke will make people turn against us.
And that if they turn against us they will put rules in place to keep us from vaping where we can't smoke.

Anybody see anything wrong with that logic?

By not vaping where you can't smoke, you are already complying with the restrictions you fear will come.
So what exactly do you have to lose by vaping in a non-smoking area?

I don't get it, what am I missing here?

I'd like this ten times if I could. This is the very reason why I vape almost everywhere and carry CASAA cards with me. Spread the word; don't hide in shame.

I vape pretty much everywhere. My co-workers are all cool with it. In public places I tend to keep in on the DL. I try not to create clouds everywhere and just hold it in so it's not as noticeable. I get strange looks but who cares. Smokers always ask me about it and I tell them and let them try it. My goal is to spread the word on vaping. People seem to love it.

I vape outside if I am at someone else's home, I don't vape inside any retail establishments, although I will hit a quick one in the can just about anywhere. I travel somewhat regularly, and I am very discreet in airports since almost all the smoking lounges have been closed and US air travel has become so ridiculous. (Let me tell you, TSA is nothing but a Federal work program and tax burden, our true security is a joke. Travel some places abroad where you are interviewed if you want to see something resembling true basic air security, but I digress ...) but I definitely go in the john to really bust down on one in an airport.

I also like to record live music, so I go to a lot of shows, always the type where even though it is no smoking everyone else is burning (OTHER STUFF) . So I really love my e-cigs in that environment, it is the one place where I vape openly, and it is a new (to me) and wondrous thing to stand there all night and just "burn" 'em without having to rush outside, miss a tune and fret over whether someone drunk (EDIT) is kicking my mic stand over. :)

I work outside all day around other people's houses. I felt comfortable enough to smoke 2 packs a day while doing so, so I'm not going to hide my vaping either.

I don't vape where smoking or tobacco use is restricted, unless I've received permission from the ownership or management. Whether that's a business or another person's property, it doesn't matter.

Exactly, restricted means restricted.....its best to ask for permission then to have to beg forgiveness from the police or authorities. I also ask at other peoples houses other then mine. A lot of times I hang out with the reset of the smokers, and am careful as I don't know who is allergic to what. I'd hate to be the cause of someones death from the oil extracts in my vape.

Outside is outside, I tend to vape a bit in open air space...besides often times fun to see peoples expressions as the vape pulls a magic trick and dissapears in the air...made lots of people get that "Durr" stare from it.

I vape normally in public. Usually people are curious and interested to what Im doing, and therefore I show and tell.
Only time I dont do it is while driving and seeing a po po/cop in the rear view. I would assume if they see me, they WILL pull me over "knowing my luck" and question the heck out of what it is. So, I vape everywhere, just watch behind me while driving. Havent done it inside of buildings yet, soo many controversial about legal aspects of whether its allowed or not, that I just dont care to bother doing it.

P vape pretty much anywhere, and if its a "sensitive" area I take a "bathroom break" :)

Yea have had to do that myself in places that do not allow either. I usually try to keep it to places smokers can normally go because honestly, we do not need any bad press and the people with the "I vape everywhere because it isn't smoking!" people really want us all to look bad in the eyes of the public and for some reason no one can talk sense into them.

I observe the smoking area rules for the most part. I've found that as a way to spread the vaping with current smokers! I carry a buddy tip most of the time, when a smoker acts very interested, I'll offer them a hit, explain a bit about vaping and recommend a local vape store front and/or a few on line vendors. I do vape at my desk quite a bit, a couple times I will have someone pop their head in, wanting to know if purchasing was getting air fresheners for me because my office smelled good :p.

A lot of people posting on the forums probably arent old enough to remember this but 25 years ago smokers smoked EVERYWHERE. I can remember walking through Lowes in the builders warehouse (the rest of the store looked like a showroom instead of a warehouse) and smoking. Fast food restaurants all had smoking sections, so did the teachers lounge at school, airports, airplanes, restaurants and just about anywhere else you can think of.

Back then I even smoked in grocery stores without even a sideways look from people. Many of the older ex-smokers on this forum can probably tell you similar stories that are hard to believe unless you grew up during those times but the vast majority of them are all true.

Slowly but surely those rights got taken away and smokers habitats have shrunk down to the point where most feel lucky if theyre relegated to small dark, smelly, corner that's hidden away from everyone's sight. That's if they're lucky. Many of them also face exorbitant insurance premiums and even unemployment from companies that refuse to make concessions to their addiction or even allow them the breaks required by law.

There's no need to convince those that have an "I vape everywhere because it isnt smoking attitude" of anything because were the ones who have it right. Allowing ourselves to only vape with smokers or in designated smoking sections makes us look just as dirty and just as guilty as smokers in the eyes of the rest of society.

Not only is that an extremely negative association to have but its also completely backwards since were actually doing something to better our health, enrich the lives of ourselves and our families and that gives us hope for a brighter future. I cant think of anything more positive than that. :)

Allowing ourselves to continue to think or act like a smoker in thought or in deed isnt postive for vaping as a community, our recovery or our own well being.

We should all, every one of us, be proud of the choices we've made in regards to vaping and NOT hide it like were doing something bad or something we should EVER feel guilty about.

That others are actually advocating we relegate ourselves willingly to such a small, dark, lonely, smelly corner is surprising and I think it shows either a serious lack of judgement or very little thought on the matter at all.

VAPE ON! VAPE STRONG! AND VAPE PROUD!

I agree with Johnnie about being respectful of the property owners wishes. However, people like my father who vapes proudly everywhere he goes also gets the opportunity to spread the word of vaping and more importantly show people what its all about face to face. I think a carefull balance of the two will help the public accept vaping with the positive light that it deserves.
