Being a recent x-smoker I like mostly tobacco flavor but I've been getting a little tired of the tobacco flavors and recently expanded to the coffees and creamy fruits. Although tobacco is still my main stay I do like the change of pace these others are giving me (Mostly the coffees)

I've been vaping for 3 years. During my first 6 months I wanted lots of flavor and lots of nicotine. After 6 months I began dropping both my flavoring % down as well as my nicotine. During my 2nd year I continually dropped the flavoring % and the nicotine down. None of it was a conscious effort, it happened because I just didn't like my flavors as strong anymore .. same with the nicotine. Today I use very low % of flavorings (sc's at 1/2%, TPA's at 2%) and my nicotine is now only 2mg. Not sure how it is for others, that's just how it seemed to happen for me.

Have you noticed the lack of or miss the throught hit that was present in the higher amounts of NIC?

That's why I still use a little nic, even the 2mg does give me enough of a throat hit. If I use zero nic, I miss the throat hit. Before going down to 2mg I figured I wouldn't get much throat hit at that low nic, but I do. And I vape the WL ICE, which doesn't give as much throat hit as many other nics do .. but for me it works and I still get enough of a throat hit. It probably wouldn't be enough throat hit for some people, but it's perfect for me.

That's good to know I've been reading a lot of threads where the main complaint was lack of throught hit and flavor for people that went to 0%. I'm a recent x-smoker and my plan is to reduce my NIC slowly first from 2.4% to 1.8 then 1.0 and finally ending up at about .5%. Figure I'll do this over the next year. I started at 2.4 and now that I'm 3 months into it I find 2.4% a bit strong so I think now I'm ready to take the first step to 1.8%

When I first started 3 years ago, I started at 36mg nic. I had smoked Marlboro Reds for years, so I wanted the higher nic just to be sure I didn't have nic cravings. After 3-4 weeks I cut the nic down to 24mg. After 6 weeks of the 24mg I cut down to 18mg. Six weeks later I cut down to 12mg. I stayed at 12mg for several months and after that I started cutting down by 2mg at a time, every 6 weeks .. until I got down to 4mg. I stayed at 4mg for many many months, then a few months ago I cut down to 3mg. Two weeks ago I cut down to 2mg. The best advice I can give you is not to cut down too soon and to just make small % decreases at a time, otherwise you might feel deprived or tempted to go back to cigs. Another great advantage to doing DIY is you can easily mix your juices to whatever strength you want. Good wishes to you!

I didn't like going from 24mg to 18mg!

I'm now at 21mg and it's okay. :toast:

Dropping from 24 to 18 was a little tough for me, but I adjusted to it in a few days. The hardest of them all for me was when I went from 18 to 12, that one took me 7 days to adjust to. Back then I was not doing DIY, I was buying vendor juice and that's the strengths it came in. Once I started DIY, 2 years ago and from that point on I only made my drops in increments of 2mg at a time and those were super easier on me than dropping 6mg at a time. Wish I had been doing DIY from the very beginning, took me a year to try it and haven't bought vendor juice in the past 2 years .. gotta love DIY!

It hasn't been that long since I quit smoking and I like in your face flavor. I'm wondering if after some time will this change? I'm curious how do you like your flavoring and has it changed.

Some do some don't and some end up going flavorless. I might use a smidge less flavoring than when I first started, but I still like my old recipes, so that's a non-quantifiable sense of "less". (I started when "mod" meant a device meant for something else was modified to have a tactile switch and an atomizer threading.)

I didn't see a poll option.

Yeah, there is a whole sub-forum for polls. Not like the old days when polls ran rampant across the forum shootin' and pillagin' most of the sub-forums into an untidy dust-bunny-ish semblance of disorder and chaos.

I think when I'm ready to make my jump I'll do 2 batches 18 and 20. If I have a problem with 18 I can quickly go to 20 or use 20 just for cravings. Thats what I did with my 24. I have a 36 batch so if I had cravings with 24 a few quick puffs of 36 did it for me. But now I havent touch my 36 in about 6 weeks.

Danny,
I went from 24 mg to 18 fairly easy. But, going from 18 to 12mg was not happening. So, With dyi, I dropped 2mg or so every other week and doing it that way I didn't notice it. The throat hit was a big change from 18 to 12 mg. But, I got use it it slowly as well.

Really. I did just order the one ml samples (13 of them) from eliquid samples that carry Virgin Vaper, Mom and Pops and 3 others I forget but I KNOW they will be too mild in flavor and they only come in 10-12 mg nic! Why did I do this? Well, it might teach more about my DIY. IF I get a sample with good throat hit ( yes, flavor strength can affect throat hit for good and for bad) then I'll experiment with that flavor at home. And all the little 3 ml bottles for preliminary batch making.) 10 cents to the dollar is my guesstimate or DIY. 50 MLs x 12 months =600 MLs. Makes 60 10 ml bottles at average of $7.00 plus shipping so say $8.00 so thats $480 a year. When people say the investment to get started in DiY is too high I agree that it's a little overwhelming at first and true, you can buy 100 flavors and might end up only liking and using 25 of them you still will get to the point that $480 will make you 9 x more e juice that tastes and hits the way you like according to my guesstimate. Even if it's 25 cents to the dollar its a very economical way to vape. The premades are always so weak to me that it's frustrating.

I like the "in your face flavor". That's why I just got into DIY (other than it being waaaaay cheaper and versatile).

A lot of juice that I have tried was good, but seemed to be too slight in the flavor....so now if I get a flavor I like, I can make it as strong as I want.
