Do you need an unregulated mod to take advantage of a dual coil setup?

I have a Magma that I use for dripping, used on a Provari. I have usually done only single coil setups, and have been having great success. Tonight I built a dual coil. 28g, 12 wraps each, 1.3o. Anything higher than about 4.3v and I'm hitting the amp limit. At 4.3v it seems to take forever for the coils to heat up. I have to count to 3 after firing before taking a hit, and I seem to get better vapor production out of the single coil setup. Maybe I need to use higher resistance wire, fewer wraps to heat up quicker? Or maybe this setup is just better on an unregulated device?

I use 30g for a dual coil build on a 15 watt regulated mod. Built for 1.5 ohms it works ok. Not fantastic however. Using an Igo w.

A single coil build with 28g for 1.5 ohms heats faster and works better on my Igo L with the same 15w mod.

Dual coil builds on low amp/watt devices are a compromise. This is why the 30 watt mods make sense.

The same dual coil build on my Igo w performs great @ 25w to 30w on a 30w capable mod.
