I have an Ibanez s520ex (black). The body of their s series are thin around the outer edges (top/bottom) making them extremely comfortable. They also have the wizard 2 neck. Basically they flatten the back of the neck so your fret hand can move more quickly.
I don't think I'll change from this type of guitar cuz it works very well.
Well also I suck extremely bad, so it would be hard to justify spending much more:)
I'm pretty good with the open chords, but still way too slow on bar chords, lots more practice is needed:-/

They are called infinity 1 and 2 (made by somebody er other for Ibanez). It distorts nicely, but it doesn't get as clean as I'd like for acoustic sounding stuff. Technically I been playing for about 2 years, but between work and life issues there hasn't been so much practice over the last year.
I can play Time of your life by Greenday. Not that I'm a fan, but it's easy to play:)
and um The Rage (Judas Priest), Fly by Night (minus the solo), a bunch of 'pieces' of songs. Been toying with Territory by Selphulture<sp> lately. It's so weird though that I constantly lose track of where I'm at and what I'm doing:).
I currently have a membership on Jamplay so I been picking up parts for a lot the songs they teach.
Hrm, I haven't tried Smoke on the water, I should look into that, maybe I'm better than I think:)
I'll give it a shot tomorrow and let you know how goes.

I am just starting guitar ... I have a Takamine Natural Series EAN70C but I can't really say I can "play" it yet ... just enough to keep my elem. students entertained and quiet. I have been playing dulcimer and banjo for years so I am hoping this is easy enough to pick up ... but as of right now I am finding that I can't learn it the same as I have for other instruments (HS band director for a while ... learning a recreational instrument after teaching classical music leaves my head spinning because I can't find a good method.)

Love that there are other musicians around ... always makes me feel like a little less of a nerd :D

Nice. Id say that transitioning from a banjo to a guitar wouldnt be that difficult. Same aspect and all but theres fingerpicks. im guessing that youd get good at flamenco style play.
Im surprised that prople here play too. I feel more at home now that there are other musicians.

nice people. and thats talent to be playing so many instruments like violin, bass and so on. Im not in a band but when i do collaborate and play a song im ususlly the one doing the solos and not the rythm. Dont know, im just more of a metal fret on fire type of person :D.

anybody else?

HawaiiVapor-What about slack stiring or ukelele?

yeah i play some slack string. i can play kuu home o kahaluu and some others, but unfortunately i have only one acoustic guitar so i have to keep retuning it when i want to play a different song. kinda troubelsome actually.
I was gonna play an Uke before i got my acoustic but i thought i wanted an acoustic more. i know some simple songs on the uke like somewhere under the rainbow. not anything really worthwhile. im thinking of taking that up next after i get to the virtuoso point in playing guitar. three or four more years of intense practice everyday perhaps. that or a bass.

Put an instrument in my hands, and I'll play it!! Well, except for woodwinds, never could get the hang of them:p

I've been playing guitar for a little over 20 years. Started to learn the banjo at the beginning of this year. I've been playing the piano for about as long as the guitar.

these are 5 of my guitars and my banjo. I also have another guitar in the closet that is in pieces at the moment. And my daughter has a nice little nylon string in her room.

My daughter also has a violin that she has been playing for a couple of years. She is going to bring a tuba home later today as well.

I love 'trying' to play my acoustic guitar but unfortunately I am just hopelessly talentless, it certainly keeps me amused though and I have a program called DMM (digital music Mentor) which converts my mp3's into chords for me, although it isn't great at getting them all right, some songs it gets pretty close to picking out all the right chords and I really like 'betty lou's' guitar songs website. She has done simple chords for loads of songs.

try learn and master guitar. it came out when i first started and i borrowed it from a friend. it teaches you how to read music, play by ear (a difficult task) and pretty much everything to do with learning guitar. the teacher goes really slow so you can learn at your own pace. theres also a book that comes with it. in three months after you get it and watch it youd be playing pretty well. NObodys talentless, you just have no direction in learning the basics. practice basics first and youll be way better. i thought the same thing when i started. i had my strat in my hands and i was picking minors trying to get a simple rythm out of it.
anyway it has helped me alot. i know guys who have played for three years and are nowhere near as good as i am. trust me it works.

nice collection dmohn28. is that a vintage telecaster?

and i like the music zofryer. different but cool.

I play , well I did , not so much now the Kids are around . BIG Satch Fan , I've been playing for what 15 years or so now on and off.

Currently own an Ibanez JS and recently got a Les paul ( R.I.P. ) . Had a few axes over the years mostly Cheapo knock off's . I used to have an Ibanez Artist Flyin V and I'm so gutted I sold that to a mate for all of £60 pah..shoulda kept it. Also had an Aria proII Cardinal series , that was verry nice..I'm trying to find another one but darned they are hard to find.

Effects wise I still use my trusty BOSS GT5 but I'm quite interested in Vox's New line of Satriani Signature boxes...may even get the satcherator box come payday. :)

cool.:D must be proud then huh? yeah i never did get a congrats or recognition from anybody really when i finally got decent at playing. what kind of music do they play?

Ritchie Blackmore (of Deep Purple and Rainbow fame) wrote and played "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star", among other great hits. His current band, Blackmore's Night encompasses renaissance and medieval music. He's been doing this for the past 12 years. They are wrapping up their "Secret Voyage Tour" in Europe, and they will be touring the states in October.
