darn cell phone...
Should read, "do you charge your eVick at night?"

Just wondering if anybody plugs it in at night while sleeping like they would their cell phone?
iI the charging circuit is not up to the task now I think this would be an excellent update for version 1.2 or at least version 2.

I've done this a few times with no apparent problem but still I wonder.

I was using voice recognition on my cell and kept getting interrupted... it was a bit frustrating but I thought it was understandable nevertheless.

I was simply wondering if anyone charged their eVic via the devices USB while they slept. This is a fairly common practice with cell phones and the battery chemistry is similar. I was wondering if anyone else did this and/or if anyone knew if the integrated charging capability would allow for this without problem.

I...still am not fond of recharging anything unattended/unconciously...

Better safe than sorry...

I wouldn't own a cellphone if I had to charge it unattended. Pretty much everyone I know plugs theirs in at night. If the charger is smart enough it shouldn't be a problem. Personally I've been doing that with phones for at least ten years.

I think I understand the question...
You want to know if the eVic's head unit is smart enough to know when to stop charging and maintain safeguards concerning your batts, that have explosive properties if treated carelessly. Yes?

Will the head charge the battery fully or just to say 80-85% to be sure?
Will the head stop charging once that limit is reached?
Will the head perform trickle charge to reach that 100% and maintain there?
Will the unit's temperature control thingy stop charging each time the batt heats up (charges for 10 mins-stop because of heat, repeat)?
Will charging this way wear out part that were not intended for this purpose or maybe not for abusing of this convenience?

I have no answers for you sorry but I hope that someone here does, please confirm my questions so that members can best help you.
Here's a BUMP for ya.

That is "The Bump".

The reason I asked was the first morning charger showed 100%, second and third morning 99 and 98%.
That lead me to think that many of the answers would not be satisfactory. I only hope that Joytech would prioritize this type of function over the bells and whistles.

That's the question and perhaps only for Ovale or Joytech.

I don't and for a few reasons.

1. I don't know the specific chemistry of my cell phone battery vs the ICR that comes with the eVic. I believe my cell phone is li-poly as well. It's not an apples to apples compare anyway.
2. My cell phone is a 600 dollar device with a 50 dollar battery, I can also view a teardown and see all the components, I am more inclined to trust this than a 75 dollar head unit, 10 dollar battery tube and 8 dollar battery with electronics that I can't seem to identify online.

Mine stops at 99% on the indicator sometimes but I believe that has more to do with the display than the actual charge state. They need a feature to reset the battery charge indicator, like a lot of cell phones either have or you can do through root access. I have had computers that need the indicator (onscreen) reset too because it would say "96%--plugged in, not charging".

The Evic kit does not come with a separate battery charger. Instead it comes with a battery, a mini usb cord, and a wall plug for the usb. I plug in my Evic into the wall without any problems. The Evic will stop charging once it's fully charged (based on my experience) and it will not get hot. The screen will even say that the charge is complete.

I have had no issues as well but still would be nice to know the charging capabilities.
I have written Ovale although it might be hard to get a real answer because of our legal system. I will post their response.

I mentioned that people were charging this way and if they advised against it an update would be appreciated. It shouldn't be that tough because software (firmware) can (should) regulate the charger.

You might get a better response Joyetech rather than Ovale.

Seems like all their models have overcharge protection.

Here's Ovale's response:

I would advise for ANY P/T mod that is you leave it completely unattended for a long period of time to remove the atty. Otherwise it is safe to leave on pass thru, but removing the atomizer is just "safe" any any situation. If it were an ALL mechanical device I would say leave it plugged in, with atty onit. But it is a Computer.

I probably won't take the atty off. I can build another and I think it would have to be really confused for that to cause a problem. I turn the device off plus it has several auto shut off time limits so I think the chances of anything happening would be pretty slim.
