So my eVic came yesterday. I was all happy for a while. Charged it up and used it for a little bit but then went to bed. Came home from work today and started vaping and have had nothing but issues with it.

First issue was it was constantly saying max puffs reached. I could still vape but was a little annoyed. I powered it off and back on. No difference. Plugged it in to my pc and then had issues with getting my pc to see it. I finally got MVR to see the eVic and all the settings looked fine. Its set to 1200 puffs a day. So I unplugged it and vaped some more. Same thing. To fix it i had to factory reset it then upgrade to 1.2. That fixed that issue.

Second problem was the time wasn't right. In writing this I realized I could set it via the eVic itself. For some reason I figured it would set itself to the time and date on my pc....maybe that was just wishful thinking. I guess this problem is fixed as well.

The third problem and the one I find most disheartening is it keeps overheating. I guess this could be due to the clearomizer I am using more than the eVic itself. Current set up I have is the eVic with a Kanger T3. Seems like if take about 10 good puffs in a row the Kanger T3 starts to overheat and the eVic give off the temp warning. I was vaping it at about 4.2v. Maybe this is too high. I just switched to another Kanger T3 and turned the voltage down to 3.8 hoping this will cause it from overheating. My other thought was maybe its due to the atty being so close to the control head as its a bottom feeder.

Anyways. Just wondering if anyone else was having these issues or have any advice on something I am doing wrong. Maybe my voltage is too high?

You really only have one problem. You have not learned how to set up the eVic before use.
Like any upgradable device, first thing is to read the manual then check for updates and finally set everything up.

Once this is done there is nothing left to do but enjoy the eVic until time to update again. The only thing I have had to do to mine in the past 2 weeks is swap batteries. I charge externally.

For your software issues - Always right click MVR and run as administrator. It will find the device without issue.

You have no issues at all.

You need to do the following:
1) read the instruction manual,
2) set your max temp higher,
3) set your max puff counter to 1000 or more,
4) set your date and time.

You find out how to do all this in a very easy to read manual.

Ignore all that 'Puff' nonsense.

Second problem was the time wasn't right.
Use your watch.

Touch base of Clearo and ease off for a while if too hot. Alternately get another clearo, carto or RBA that does not overheat.

Seems like if take about 10 good puffs in a row the Kanger T3 starts ...
Don't do that with BCC clearos. That's a good way to burn out your coil, wick and juice.

Wait about 7 - 10 seconds between puffs.

Maybe my voltage is too high?
Can burn your juice, but 4.2 is still Ok with 1.8 ohm clearos.

That's one way to put a spin on things. However it did not address the issue of properly setting up the eVic in any fashion and all avice was subjective not corrective.

I have also been having issues with my eVic. Updating to 1.2 fixed most of my issues. Make sure to read the manual. Also keep an eye out for Firmware v2.0.

If all else fails check your warranty information. I bought mine at an actual store. When I bought the eVic I was told I had a 60 day warranty. If anything was wrong with it, it would be fixed onsite or exchanged.

Well all I can say is I am a noob. Should have read the manual more thoroughly.

The puff counter actually was an issue though as I made sure it was set to 1200 puffs on the eVic and even checked in the MVR and it said 1200 as well. Not sure what caused that.

The time I got all sorted out as I was writing my first post. Still think it should sync to your pc when you plug it in. Wishful thinking I guess.

As for the temperature alert I didn't know that could be adjusted after skimmed through the manual. I am not sure if I would have been able to figure out a good threshold though.

Thanks everyone for the help. That's why I love this forum.

Yah, well my vendor won't even touch it. They say they don't service it because it's got firmware. I have to get ahold of joyetech. Given the current festivities going on in China just now...
