Do you refill the KR808D cartomizers?

Where do you stand on refilling cartomizers?

  • I don't refill because of the hassle

  • I don't refill because of the taste

  • I refill and think the refills taste just fine

  • I refill and think the refills are inferior but OK

  • I refill and the savings outweigh any taste loss

  • I refill because I like to make my own flavor mixes

I am all over the place on this one. I like the blanks for home brew and think they seem to last longer than re-used ones for some reason. I have some blanks that have stood up to 12 fillings and are still clean and going strong. You can really taste the juice in a new blank. I will also refill flavored ones with similarly flavored juice. I have favorite cartos that taste and work better than others.

I don't have an opinion yet still don't have enough experience. I bought the starter kit, that came with 5 carts and some Mboro juice to refill them. The guys was nice enough to send me over double the amount of carts and some hilton juice. First couple refills, not sure I was doing everything I could to get a good refill everything was fine except they didnt seem to last as long. I wasn't able to put another order in till Christmas eve and I refilled them till they got to a point where I didn't think the preformed well at all. And what I lead to expect.

This order was almost all carts. With the discounts I was able to get 55+ carts. I'm going to try to refill them a couple times strictly for the money savings. So far nothing beats a fresh new cart and I dont read anyone claiming other wise

My first ecig was/is a KR808D-1. I have refilled since the first 5 cartos went dry. The main reason I refill is economic. I feel that there is some loss of flavor, but not a great loss. I have heard that premium cartos are superior in flavor and better for refilling than standard cartos. I've heard much the same about premium juices also. I hope to be able to purchase some of the premium cartos and juices soon, just to see what all the hoopla is about. One thing I'd like to state is that I appreciate all the comments and advice shared with the rest of us by trail-blazing members. I am certain that I have been spared a few oops because someone cared enough to share their experiences. Thanks! :D

I've been refilling for about 4 months now and there certainly is a cost savings, but in all honestly there is a flavor loss over time. Going from a $15 a day habit to a 50 cent habit was just crazy. I couldn't believe how rich I suddenly became, but after a while I decided I could easily settle for $1 a day or even $1.50 to improve flavor and that's what I did. Now I use 6 or 7 carts for 2 weeks then go new rather I think they need it or not. Flavor consistency is much better, the sides don't blister etc.. I threw away a cart yesterday that had about 3 months of service on it (I probably should have framed it). You should have seen that sorry thing. Looked like it had been through severals wars.

I starred out by filling my own blanks but had to try some prefilled. The result? Unpleasant undertaste and fewer refills IMO.
Something about the juice that's been sitting in the carto for God knows how long makes it not only less palatable but harder to refill successfully.

Folks like doots and mwahle convinced me (it didn't take much) to just skip the prefilled and stick with blanks.(Thanks ;))

Dripping/syringe along the wall of the carto (NOT into the wick, which I found damages the wick and shortens its life span)
+ taryn's spin trick
+ topoffs long before it can get burnt
= superlong flavorful life on a cartomizer.

Getting 5-10 refills per cartomizer, not as many as some, but I'm kind of using them hard on an HV model.

Well I don't refill because I'm no good at it, heheh. I've tried several times with different methods listed throughout this forum and have had no luck. I think I just try to put to much in and end up flooding them. I'm going to order some blanks today and try again.

Jon -- I couldn't put in as many drops at a time as other people seem to, and was flooding them at the beginning too. This is what seems to work for me:

After taking out the mouthpiece and silicone O-ring, I put a slow ~10 drops along the wall into the wick (avoids the atomizer tube!) letting it sink in, spin, another slow ~6 drops, spin, another slow ~6 drops, spin, etc. If it gets to the point whereI'm dripping down the walls and it's not absorbing at all into the wick before I start spinning it, I know I've hit the top capacity and I sponge up any pooled juice (usually just a couple drops) with a Q-tip before the final spin. You want that wick obviously moist on top but never a film/pool on top, and never a pool over the atomizer tube. (That's why I drip along the wall of the carto.)

I think my refills work just as well as a new cartomizer, after a while when it goes down I just toss that carto (saving the cap and oring) and start a new one.
OMG...I just lmao at your avatar picture, that I got a closer look at. I was wondering, why would they put a pharmaceutical ad on for an avatar and then I lmao!!!!!!!!!!luv it!!!!!!
