Lol. Well, you had a note. I think my dad started at 11.

Also…what were pall mall greens? Menthol?

Yes. They were menthol. The only thing is I don't remember them being lights at the time. The last time I looked, which has been a while, Pall Mall Menthols are all lights now.

I can remember when I was a younger Lad and as broke as could be jonesing for a smoke. I would be driving along only to find my pack was empty so I'd pull the car over and search high and low for that one cigarette that I knew that I had dropped between the seats and when I found it, boy was it old and nasty but I would smoke it. Now I'm going 19 days analog free and can't believe I ever smoked as much as I did.

Haha, I remember. Now, I dig for the carto I dropped. LOL

I remember in my teenage years walking around a college campus and grabbing the 90% full cigarette butts from kids that were late for class. I look back now, and that is damn nasty. I'm still on the tobacco train, but trying hard to get off of it.
That's why we're here, bro.

1980, was travelling around as a kid and got mugged the first night in Los Angeles. Had locked my suitcase up at the bus station and was walking around downtown looking for a cheap hotel room and some guy robbed me at gunpoint. So I had to get Dad to wire me money, which took a couple days back then, two days of no place to stay or nothing to eat but at least I had smokes, bummed them from strangers. So as I think back smoking was definitely more important to me than food or shelter, no question about it.

So I've used this story over the years to try to explain to non smokers how powerful this addiction is. It took until 2012 for me to break it in fact.

bleh! i used to smoke pall malls when i was in between paychecks with 4 dollars to my name.

Same here.

Although I actually enjoyed the unfiltered soft pack pall malls before I found a steady supply of Lucky Strikes. Now, I'm avoiding that gas station because they kept them in stock just for me, and I'm wondering how ...... off they are that I quit.

I remember paying 1.00 a carton on base or .25 a pack in vending machines. Gosh, I feel old now:(

Heh…yeah…I missed those days. My first pack of Lucky Strikes was like $2.50, but that's because they'd been there for a while and the gas station didn't know what they were……they adjusted quickly.

I remember talking to somebody who quit when prices got ridiculous for him……but he started when LS were 24 cents a pack and the company packaged a penny in each one so the gas station attendants could take a quarter and not have to make change.
