Guess I was one of the lucky ones. I had just gotten out of the hospital, where I spent 4 days trying to get my newly diagnosed Diabetes under control (what a shock that was!). My doctor said you HAVE to quit, due to circulation issues in my feet and legs. Apparently analogs are horrible for inhibiting normal circulation and with diabetics it is not uncommon for them to have amputations of the feet and/or legs for this reason. Needless to say, that got my undivided attention, LOL. My wife took me to a vape store and I got hooked up with a VAMO VVW V2. I threw my Marlboro Reds analog pack in the trash that day (4 weeks ago) and have not looked back. And I can honestly say I don't miss them a bit. And I had been a 40 year, 2 pack a day smoker. Thank God I made the switch. I feel SO much better already. Lung capacity is getting better, no more chest hurting in the morning, no more gasping when going up 2 flights of stairs. Funny thing too, earlier this week I sat next to a guy that is a chain smoker of analogs. He smelled SO bad to me that I truly thought I would be nauseous. No lie, I couldn't believe how bad he reeked of cigarettes. And that is what I used to smell like, I'm sure. Just reinforced my decision to NEVER go back!

I'm also a diabetic and using 0mg and 6mg (occasional 12mg) liquids and was planning on dropping the nicotine completely. After reading some of the new studies regarding nicotine and it's health benefits I've reconsidered and actually thinking of going up to 12mg. I'm going to have to do more research though because I thought I read one that said that nicotine raises BG levels.

the cravings are still there. i occassionally want a cig really bad so ill go stand outside with all the smokers here at work and vape. ill walk away feeling better because i could easily just bum a cig from them but i wont. the smell bothers me. and just the memory of the taste makes me queezy. ill stick to vaping my fruity selection rather than burning an analog. vaping is whats for me now. sorry BT

Hi there, what did you mean by "BG"? I read your post with interest. I'm actually using 24mg nicotine in my juice and have had NO problems whatsoever. In fact, the coloration in my leg is getting a lot better in just the 4 weeks I have been vaping. I had planned to cut my nicotine level.....eventually! but am interested in your remark about BG? Thanks!

Not in the slightest. I never have any sort of craving urges to smoke anymore. I'm down to 12mg nic vaporizing (I can't go any lower than that without losing satisfactory TH, and that's what it's all about for me). Then again, I'm also about a year and a half in, and about a year and three months of that completely off cigs. It takes time man, don't get discouraged. Even if you never stop smoking completely, you're doing yourself a favor just cutting back.

Now, every once in a while I'll bum a cigarette off someone, not because I'm craving it, but because for some reason I like to remind myself how awful they taste every once in a while  Once your taste buds start to recover, you'll feel more adverse to cigarettes. They are truly bloody awful. I have a cigarette maybe once every 4 months or so, and usually toss it after a couple drags.

It still amazes me everyday that a tiny puff of vapor keeps me from ever wanting to go back to smoking. I still can hardly believe it. I never have the urge to smoke even when I am with someone who does. That doesn't mean sometimes I go into "hypervape" mode because of something. I get just as much, if not more, comfort from vaping that I did smoking. If you have to have a crutch, it might as well taste good.:vapor:

Boy, it still amazes me too! As addictive as those smokies and all their chemicals are, I still wonder how in the heck this vaping thing allows most of us to completely forget about cigarettes! (Well, almost completely; there is still a very occasional brief out-of-the-blue urge, but nothing like the constant desire when trying to quit the conventional ways.) I am still sooo grateful for vaping!!

I was a 2 pack a day smoker and am currently down to 5 cigs a day and have been vaping for about 3 weeks roughly. I just cant seem to drop those last 5. 3 of them are with my morning coffee. and the other 2 are after dinner.

How often do ya'll get the urge, and has it gone away totally for anyone yet?

I think you have to say ok I'm NEVER going to take another puff.... well that's if you REALLY want to quit smoking completely...

I know with me I started vaping over 4 months ago.... my hubby and one son still smokes, when I see them lite up it makes me think ... hummm I'd love one... but then I stop and remember which one REALLY taste better.... hands down it's the e-cig...

The e-cig can do every thing the tobacco cig can do IF you let it.... but you have to be ready when the head games hit... cause they WILL hit... that lil voice telling you how it's just one and one can't hurt.... it's just like an alcoholic, you simply can't take that one puff.....(IMO)....... but it's a choice....

It still happens to me just kinda here and there... there doesn't really seem to be a pattern....
Personally, no way am I going back....

Good luck :)

The only time I get the urge is watching a movie or TV where someone is smoking. Not even most of the time even then, but once in a while.

I do miss the form factor and convenience.

However, I'm around smokers occasionally. I gave someone a ride the other day and he smokes. Let him smoke in the car. I almost gagged. It's the smell. Doesn't smell good. Smells dirty, nasty. And then I think of the tar and crap. And COPD. And stinky ash trays.

It's all so clean when it's a movie. No smell. No mess. But when you remember the real world....all I miss is the form factor. Even then I have some cig-a-likes around if I want to use them. But most of them vape so poorly that I don't bother. I should invest in some shorty-cartos for my 510 cig-a-likes I guess.

Three plus years without a puff of smoke. Don't want to break that record and start over.

I didn't read all posts so this is probably redundant:

There's another factor. You're still addicted to tobacco. That's in addition to nicotine. There's 10,000 chemicals in cig smoke. There's also a withdrawal for many when they give up cigs...even while replacing nicotine. At some point, when you've cut down enough and are ready, you'll bite the bullet and quit. Give it a chance. Give yourself a chance to adjust. You don't have to do it all on day one. Just because some do doesn't mean you have to. Do what works for you. However, realize there's still often a withdrawal. You can push through it (vape through it).

After you quit completely, you'll eventually get to the point where smoking is a turn off. If you think about it, how bad it is and stinky it is compared to vaping, you'll stay away. (prediction) But that takes time.

I had the urge to light up for the first 6 weeks or so, but not an issue anymore. 32 year smoker-no-more...
Now the opposite happens, I get a whiff of a really sweet, aromatic pipe and the urge to grab a clearo filled with a Black Cavendish juice strikes out of the blue.

My humidor filled with Drew Estates, 5Vegas and various pipe tobacco's sits untouched since February 18th, albeit for a few friends who swing by on occasion for a BBQ and some craft-brews, sitting around the burning pit.

Ive been smoking during the day, and vaping at night. And slowly I've been smoking less and vaping more, i just need to always have enough e-liquid which i run out and buy a pack of smokes till i can get more e-liquid.

Liquid cost LESS than smokes, make sure to not run out. JMHO I have a 2 year supply of DIY stuff, and will order more before I get close to running out.

As I progressed in my vaping, with each upgrade I made, I still felt I was missing something. I started out on a cigalike, The first thing I noticed was that the nic delivery of an e-cig was better than my camel, but was missing something, then I stepped up to an ego style with a protank bcc, much better vape production, much more satisfying, but I was missing something, then I bought a Provari, great device, could dial in the protank and receive a much better tasting vape, hmm, but, I still felt I was missing something, I decided to try my hand at a genesis rba, so I ordered one from Fast Tech for $15, but had to wait 3 weeks for delivery, and the Kayfun rba caught my eye. So after studying it, found that the Russian rba was an exact copy of the kayfun so I bought one while waiting for the genesis clone. Best decision I ever made!! The first build was great, much, much better thick vape and flavor, then I started checking out the different type of builds, tried a SS mesh & silica hybrid build, mmmm, now we're cooking! then a micro coil build, hmm, even better, the came across the Nano Dragon build!! Hot Damn, I think I'm in love!! I'm not missing anything at all, but have found that I have gained more than what I was missing!!!

Through the whole process of my vape progression, I never had the urge to pick up a smoke, but always felt I was lacking or missing something. Where I work, I have to deal with guests who are allowed to smoke, and sometimes blow their smoke in my face. Which is pretty discussing to say the least. I now look at analog smokers as poor misguided children. If they only would give themselves the chance to find what they are missing.

After 5 months of vapping, I now build my own coils, and it's fun, not the pia chore I first thought it would be. A week ago, I received my first DIY juice supplies!! And I am simply loving it! Accidently made a test sample of juice that tasted so much like a Camel filter, it blew my mind. Camel filters are what I smoked for the last I don't know how many years, and found that I did not really like the taste of this juice sample that I made!! I've have made 2 recipe's that are ADV, all day Vapes, and will always have around! And I still have 13 flavor extracts that I haven't sampled yet. The cost savings are substantial, and the flavor is incredible, plus I can customize my nic level, VG/PG ratios, and my flavor % to my specifications! Totally kewl!!

So my point is, that if one is lacking something in their vape, take a look at what you are vaping with. Where is there room for improvement? What can I do to get more satisfaction from Vape, that I feel that I'm missing from not smoking? I'm just saying is it can be done. At least for me, I think I understand, and quite possibly, now I get it! lmao

Vape long and Prosper!!

I quit 1/14/11, with the first ecig. Nearly off cigs 3 years now.

Now I cant stand the smell of cigarettes& the thought of that smell - tasting that smell makes me nauseated.

I havent got the urge to smoke for over a year, until today, someone made me really angry, & cigs entered my mind for a second.

In the timespan of a second, 2 things went thru my mind (in order):

1. I thought about how really to me, horrible it smells &

2. I said to myself, I'll be damned, if I'm going to let this sh!thead ruin my life some more, to smoke a cigarette.

The urge, went away in a second.
