Do you think it might be a "tough guy" thing?

It doesn't make me look like a sissy, or so I think. And if people have that opinion I DON'T CARE. At least I'm not smoking cigarettes
No one can answer what is going on in his head. But the simple fact is he doesn't "REALLY" want to quit smoking. Why I have no idea. But it has been my personal experience that if someone WANTS to Quit smoking cigarettes vaping is the best way to accomplish that.

I have helped 4 people get into vaping. 2 have made the complete switch and the other 2 haven't. The 2 that haven't don't really want to quit. They simply will not stop buying cigarettes. I have point out to them they need to STOP BUYING cigarette and whenever they think about having a cigarette just vape VAPE VAPE. They don't and it seems they won't.

Probably has more to do with he believes the damage is already done due to most of a lifetime of inhaling welding fumes and smoking cigarets.
Then there's the having to carry around all the vape related stuff everywhere you go and having to fiddle with filling, cleaning, charging & so on and on.
Much easier to carry & use cigarettes both hands free for working or other things that take both hands.
Yelp this ^ this is it I'm afraid

There's a Starbucks that I frequent by my home that has big, macho bikers (with Harley's and cuts and everything) outside vaping all the time. Yesterday, I overhead them comparing their DIY creme brule recipes. Anathema to tough guys, this ain't.

Soooo... I suspect he just doesn't know that. I also suspect that he doesn't have a guy's guy friend who vapes, so he feels a little vulnerable (maybe don't tell him I said that), like he's not fitting in.

My suggestion would be to get him in here and talk to some people. Maybe give him a request to find out about rebuildables for you - something to ground his investigation of the forum. He'll find what you already know - a lot of helpful, non-judgemental people who know a lot about what can be a very deep (male com hobby. He'll also see that all kinds of people - people just like him - do this and are better for it. Heck, 5 minutes with Topwater Elvis would help him out a lot.

I don't know that his rig is the real issue (an MVP isn't that dainty), unless he's complaining of it not being satisfying. That said, sending him on a mission to find the perfect tank in here could work per above.

That's one of the reason's for this post. Wonder how many she's we think are he's??? I wonder how many guys really vape?

I'm a Guy and I vape all the time. I even use cig a likes because I don't have to push a button all the time to get a vape. I also have several other devices that have buttons.

Come visit us here in this part of the forum and see if a Reo might address his issues. Reos Mods I don't want to turn your thread here into a PR campaign for a Reo.

Don't know what the deal is with what he has been inhaling at work, but when it comes to smoking it's important to stop inhaling burning stuff. Period. At least we do know that lung damage done by smoking isn't reversible. But the sooner you stop the sooner you stop damage or any risk of damage from happening. I really hope his attitude about all this isn't as fatalistic as it sounds.

Yes, he's been a welder for 35 years. The factory he works in was bought several years ago by a company in Japan. They send parts to the US where he works and they have to weld the parts. A lot of the parts are painted with lead base paint. I think my husband thinks if he is inhaling that crap all day every day he might as well smoke. He's got 5 more years before he can retire. Just prayers and faith that his lungs can take all that.

I think that it depends on if you are mentally ready for the the experience. I know for me and trying to quit for 40 some years, I was just not willing to let go of my "friend" (cigarette). I tried vaping to save some money and did both for a good time. It just got to the point where I loved my "new friend" (vaping) more. Time, patience and understanding is really all you can do for someone else. No matter who. Good luck to your hubby and continued success to you. I think vaping is awesome. :)

I found that the biggest hurdle with vaping for me (along with wanting a .... while drinking) was getting used to puffing on a mod as opposed to a cig. Once I got passed that, and it took a little while, I was fine. I didnt think I looked like a "sissy" but I did feel different while everybody else was ripping butts and I had an ego. But once I realized this and got comfortable with it I was fine, but I had to make that decision to stick with vaping full time and not just when I was home alone. Plus he may just not want to stop smoking, I didn't start vaping with the intention of quitting cigs, I thought I'd just cut down but eventually realized i could vape full time and be fine with it. Now I'm on 6mg of nic and about to cut to 3mg and almost nic free...but I'll continue to vape(hopefully on 0 nic) becuz I enjoy vaping/smoking something and i can do that without feeling crappy and hacking up garbage all day.

In my house, it is the opposite! I took to vaping and quit smoking in three days. My wife has been a dual users for five months. She keeps talking about quitting, but keeps buying cigarettes! She loves the flavors and is constantly trying new ones.

Yesterday she told me that she thinks it is because the equipment is so big (she uses an Ego style VV battery and mainly ProTank2 Minis with one Aero tank I gave her).

BTW, I'm male, 6'5" and 270# and doesn't bother me a bit to be seen vaping....

I know right Lurch.....I don't understand how my husband can vape and smoke. I think I would puke if I smoked now. My husband is pretty good about not smoking around me now but does some. He enjoys vaping while watching TV at night. Hopefully this winter will be enough to make him stay inside and vape instead of smoking outside.
