That's fantastic Anna! It's a big deal that he's decided to do it on his own. Just keep up the vaping in front of him, use subliminal messaging, and be there ready with advice when he wants it, and when he's trying to figure things out, offer your help if you think he'd accept it. I know that if I ever smoked a cig again in front of anyone, they'd flip out lol. I've been vaping (and vaping ONLY) for 4.5 years. It'll be 5 in March. I decided to do it for my dad, since he survived heart issues that almost killed him. He spent 2.5 weeks in a coma, and another 1.5 weeks awake, and went through heart surgery and had a pacemaker installed. He made it through all that, so I swore to him that I'd quit when he made it out. It only took me 2 days to fulfill my promise, and I still smoked occasionally when I drank, but finally gave it up 4 years and a few months ago. It took my dad almost dying for me to quit a 21 year smoking habit. For your husband to decide to quit on his own is an amazing step!

Last night the husband just out of the blue said he was going to start vaping in January! :) Well, he said, "I don't want any input from you, and I may be the kind of vaper that still smokes a cigar on occasion," but he went on and on about how bad smoking was making him feel. But, he wants his last hurrah before quitting smoking I guess.

This means I don't have to run and duck for cover when I give him his Christmas Mech mod (though I am sure he will need something else for out and about), it just came out of nowhere! :)

I guess the advice to stay quiet and just vape was a good one, LOL. I am THRILLED though, because that's how I started vaping (to cut back) and eventually I quit.

Oh, I babbled on for a bit about how I would make his transition as easy as possible (LOL) but he didn't want to hear it quite yet, so I shut up.

This is so exciting, even if he never becomes a never smoker, I love how the quite persuasion started working... I almost smoked a celebratory cigarette with him, but then I remembered.... ::lol::lol::lol:

Yay, I love vaping and it looks like I may be able to slowly but surely convert the husband, that's almost as good as the kiddo, LOL., who remains a total non-smoker after quitting vaping.

So cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

Thats great stuff but hey make sure he doesnt make a "no no" with the mech mod. One thoughtless move and you could go boom. I know you know that already. Push him to the JUUL. Seriously. I have been in the rebuildable vaping game since 2011 and after i impulse bought a JUUL i sold ALL my mods, ALL my attys, etc. except for my Uwell Valyrian and a cuboid to power it.

I really really love pod mods and some may say "well i have $20 of juice that will last me so many tanks" but the reality is most of us (myself included) spent $20 here on an atomizer and $5 there on wire and $5 here on cotton.... bla bla bla..... $100 on a new mod.... it adds up. For some people rebuilding and getting a big bottle of juice is cheaper. For people like me i am saving money buying pods.

Its all up to the vaper themselves of course but i tried every pod system except for the juul because i was convinced it was crap, and if i could go back in time half a year and tell myself to get a juul i would probably be a few hundred $ richer from all the $ i didnt blow on random vape gear.

I did get two more JUULs to give as xmas presents to tobacco smokers who know about vaping but dont like vaping with a box mod and rebuilding and stuff. To some people the answer to that is tanks with premade coils but when you have a device that is actually the same form factor, just as light, hits just like a cig, and the nicotine salts are more like tobacco nic.... it helps the switch.

Well it's pretty clear what I like from this post so i will leave it at that!!!!!! Even if you don't like pod mods their use for a tool to SWITCH should be considered IMO

I'm not giving him a pod mod, no. If he needs a MTL setup I am the QUEEN of those, and I DIY with nic salts so I can give him as much nicotine as he needs (also stocked up on WTA liquid for the great switch).

My husband is an engineer, when I sought his help regarding coiling, he stole my (wonky) coil and rewrapped to machine shop perfection, (which kind of made me PO'd, LOL) and has helped me out with lots of stuff. I will certainly teach him Ohm's law, and if he finds my explanation incoherent, make him read about it. And no it will probably not be the first thing he vapes, as he's not going to want to carry around a dripper.

I just knew that it would intrigue him and I fully expect him to vape it at SOME point, but not during detox, given that's a horrible time to learn anything new (especially since he's been smoking sine age 8).

I will be magnanimous, probably, and give him my P3 with a Kabuki on top (even though I LOVE that setup) because I want him to enjoy vaping. There is no way he's getting my Titanium Kabuki on a Radius, though... :) Although, I do think the P3 has some advantages, but he'll enjoy the style, weight and heft. OF COURSE I am going to give my beloved spouse the best setup I can in the hopes of his success.... :)

Thank you for the warning though, he is excited about the mech but I did explain that it was more a gift of intrigue, not something to use right out of the gate.

I don't think a Juul is necessary nor wise (financially) not when other, better options are immediately to hand. But, thank you for the recommendation, that would be a good one for him if he were not married to a spouse who just spent the last 6 months researching vaping and DIY and builds RTAs, not going to go THERE.

That is wonderful! I was like you, maybe. I had no intention of quitting, or more realistically no belief I could. I refused to smoke in the main areas of my home for obvious reasons and I thought that maybe with vaping I could extend my time in front of the computer for projects. I took to vaping like a duck to water. In two weeks the analogs were left behind. I was simply amazed. My wife has continued to smoke but her habit is really tiny. Maybe five analogs a day. To date she has no interest in vaping although likes the smell of it. There are times I would love to share the experience of a new dyi juice with her but I think she has just as good a chance to quite entirely as to take up vaping so I leave the ball in her court and don't try to influence.
