addmittedly, ive never purchased an atty, but I have MANY due to the number of starter kits Ive ordered. I am a mega DCC kind of gal! I HAVE used just the atty (to drip) from time-to-time, when Im trying to conserve juice waiting on an order, or my batts are crapping out (waiting on an order). Every time I try a cart with it, BLECH8-o what IS that taste??? Is it the plastic from the cart, the filler? WHAT??? Is it the fact that they came with a starter kit and are sub-par? Is there anything else to fill them with? YUCK!!!

Those atties need to be blown out. Many have a residual 'oil' due to manufacturing. Also, if the cart filler gets dry, the filler can get singed and produce a very irritating and unpleasant taste. The 'blue foam' mod is far superior to the original filler material.

Once cleaned and broke in, those atties are adequate for dripping. Some folk will even remove the wick and bridge to expose the coil. I prefer just removing the wick.

BTW, I gave up all carts when I went to the eMDCC.

Actually no prob with the atties, just what happenes when I put that cart on, no matter how saturated!! filler/plastic taste, not burnt!
sub-par, standard issue carts/filler?

The only atty/cart combo that I've had that worked was the DSE801, the carts are twice the size of a 510 or 901 and wicked beautifully with either PG, VG, or a mix of the two. But mods are hard to find with an 801 connection so I finally switched to an E-Power and Fluxomizer Deluxe clearomizers, man talk about an upgrade.

Sub-par filler.

You can improve the vaping experience, if you really want to use carts, by getting a better filler material.
The blue foam is a well-liked alternative, although maybe not the very best.

hey, thanx! Thats what it seemed to me. Im not really planning on using them, but I would have liked to when I was in a juice or battery emergency. my lr megga dcc's hold a lot of juice to work properly, and they really drain a battery, so I just dripped in my emergencies. I just would have liked a middle of the road approach than every three drops, but with the nasty filler, I just ended up wasting MORE juice!!

:banana:Just got my epowers yesterday! Im really looking into my many choices for cartos/attys!! Not an atty person, was wondering if I was missing something with the carts. appears maybe no unless the large one described above with a good filler. Just wondering why the atty if not for just dripping!

Dinosaur here! I am the only one left on the planet who still uses atty + cart! Kidding.

But seriously, I do use carts with blue foam. If you use one of these bigger carts BreezEsmokes - Premium Electronic Cigarettes, it's a tank. My standard carts + blue foam = mini tanks, only 10 drops worth, about 1 hr of non-stop vaping.

Guess I'm so last century, still using regular, single coil attys too, 2.2 - 2.5 ohm on Rivas. Simple setup, all works, cheap. I'm ok. One day I'll try the bigger carts/tanks, but good enough for me. :)

Edit: no weird taste and the stock filler does suck.

I AM curious, who uses them, what is the benefit, why do you like them vs cartos or dripping?

Well, if you're doing an endangered species study...:)

Why not dripping? Don't like carrying bottle around and dripping every 3-4 puffs. Each 1/2 ml cart lasts me an hour, heavy vaping, tastes good. Hope to double that when I get the bigger carts. Edit: to be confirmed.

Why not cartos? Tried to refill some pre-filled 808 cartos, didn't work well. Besides, to extend life of cartos, they must be cleaned anyway, I just dry burn the attys. I didn't feel like tossing cartos every week or two.

What's the benefit? Cheap, still using same attys > 4 months, none died. Once got my batts, attys, and 1 liter of juice, I'm done. The bank is closed. Simple, no boiling of cartos, no syringe, no buying new cartos, no fluffing wicks, no punching holes, vodka, blow dryer, jewelry cleaner, etc.

Quick, 10 minutes a day dry burning attys, 5 minutes refilling carts. I refill 10 carts twice a day, total 5 minutes. Have enough carts and blue foam to last half a life time. Cartos are easier for on the go, but I don't travel much.

Edit: To me, it doesn't matter how I get the juice to the atty, cart/cartos, or how many coils, how many volts. It works, close enough, and it can't get much simpler.

Atomizers are known for the cleanest taste (particularly when dripping). All e-cig gizmos have a yuck factor if you are having problems... and all gizmos have potential problems. If they didn't this board would be a lot smaller. See advice above about cleaning and/or dripping.

I use the fillerless carts instead of drip tips sometimes (you have to remove the carts, of course, when adding drops). I use them because you never get "raw-juice" taste that way. The carts are constructed to have a condensation catch cup inside.

I hate cartos. They all taste like filler. That's why I drip. Also, fewer problems with dripping and no "mods" required. It just works (but is more laborious).

To each their own.

Interesting find there! I may have to give those a shot.

I use carts all the time to keep spiders from making nests in my spare atties
I also fill them with cheese and use them for mouse trap bait.
So in case you haven't already guessed, I consider them the epic fail of vaping.
IMHO manufacturers/distributors do newcomers a disservice by putting atties and carts in starter kits instead of cartos. Simply put cartos have a lot less of a learning curve than atomizers do.

Do I use atomizers? Absolutely! In fact I modify my atties to perform the way I want them to.

That is NOT a cartridge, it is a 510-T TANK, and will not work on a regular atomizer.

I absolutely do not use cartridges anymore. I had one actually Melt while using my 510 when I first started vaping and I will never use another cartridge again. That was a horrible taste and not to mention inhaling melted plastic can not possibly be anywhere near good for me.

Being somewhat of a chain vaper it is just not practical for me to use cartridges.

carpe, I can't take credit for finding those, saw in this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/215469-am-i-only-one-who-uses-attys-carts.html, but before you buy, see tj's post below...

You're right. As I mentioned to carpe above, got idea from another thread. Good thing I haven't bought those yet. And yes, I'm still using those tiny carts. They work well enough for me, just not as good on the road.

Laura posed her question, asked why. Since I'm still using carts, and nobody had answered yet...I'm not saying they're good for everyone, just good enough for me, for now.

Edit: I'll update the original post with 'tank' reference.
Edit2: I'm looking into the atty required to use those clear tank carts, be back...

Edit3: Re-read original posts, they use SR attys like this http://www.vaporkings.com/Genuine-Joye-510-e-cigarette-10-pack-atomizers-p/510-atom-bulkpack-black.htm with these tank carts. If you can use standard 510 attys with http://www.breezesmokes.com/product.php?productid=126&cat=11&page=1, these ARE carts, or tanks that work with SR attys.
