I thought I was having a heart attack this past Friday. My chest was tight, I had trouble breathing, and I was panicky. I went to the ER where they said my high blood pressure was making me have Vertigo (didnt know I had high blood pressure) So they prescribed me some blood pressure medication. All weekend I kept getting pains in my lungs and tightness in my chest. When I went to the store I got dizzy and had to go home. I was freaking out, thinking e-cigs were gonna kill me.

I thought I was allergic to VG since that was the new juice I recieved when this started happening. But I stopped using it, and yet I had no change to my condition.

I just got back from my family doctor today. All the test they ran at the hospital showed I had no problems with my heart or lungs. My doctor said that I am most likely experiencing Panic attacks from nicotine withdrawal. He said I may have always had anxiety, but never noticed it because the nicotine kept it somewhat at bay. Now my body is reacting to not having enough nicotine or whatever other chemicals it was used to from cigarettes.

He gave me some anti anxiety pills, and I am already feeling better, and super relieved that my lovely vaping isn't the cause (directly anyhow).

Just some food for thought if anyone else is having this issue.

On a sad note, I sold my Tasty Vapor liquids because they had VG in them...:(

Try smokeless tobacco, there's a good chance fairly little of it will deliver whatever kept your anxiety at bay - it worked for me. And all smokeless tobaccos are far less harmfull than analogs, and they don't make you as tired as most anti-anxiety meds, either.
Head over to the smokeless forum and have a look around.

alex your right on smokeless being far less harmful but there are obvious dangers still .I did grizzly pouches for only 2 weeks and I started developing leukoplakia (precancer) luckily it went away because i stopped but some people are sensitive to smokeless. no offense im not bashing u lol. i just was like oh sweet pouches now i dont gotta worry bout lung cancer, oh wait what the %^$* is this?
HAHA if i were you badfish, i would just buy some gum to help with the anxiety so you can vape all you want but if you need that extra punch theres some gum to come to the rescue (=

Yeah you go through withdrawl just as if you are quitting cold turkey. Tbo I think that the vaporized pg is simply a really poor nicotine carrier in comparason to smoke.

On top of that you get none of the additives in tobacco that make nicotine more effective.

The standard new vaper routine is to drink plenty of water and get some extra sleep while you are detoxing.

At this point I don't think I have hardly any real nicotine addiction left at all, if I went an hour without smoking it literally felt like my face was going to turn inside out, when I don't vape for hours at a time I could not care less.

I think a lot of the stuff people experience when they start vaping are related to the drop off of smoking and not really from vaping. Those first few weeks can be pretty rough because you're likely to experience some nic withdrawal (despite using the ecig) and you'll be detoxing from all the other crap. It's also now known, like your doctor said, that for many people smoking is a form of self-medication for depression and anxiety. So you take away the smokes and it gets worse.

Glad you're okay, Badfish. Hang in there. It does get better, but if after several weeks you're still having difficulty with anxiety and find the meds are not enough, you might want to check out the Smokeless tobacco thread.

This would be bad advice all around. The gum is not going to help with anxiety as it uses the same type of purified non-MIOA nicotine as PV's.

As far as smokeless, there is no link between Swedish snus and any type of oral cancer. Grizzly pouches, slim at best. The type of Leukeplakia you developed rarely leads to cancer, and with snus, never leads to cancer. The reality is that smokeless tobacco, and in particular snus has been very well studied, and rivals PV's as far as harm reduction goes if we go with what is known. You might want to actually do some research before you give out this type of nonsense advice.

I have been having some bouts with Anxiety myself. Actually the night I quit Analogs (oddly enough even before I discovered e-cigs) I had a major panic attack while driving home one night on the highway. I literaly thought I was having a heart attack and thought I was gonna croak right there on the highway. I was already contemplating quitting and that night was the last for me for smoking (Jan 5th). Went to my DR and had your typical tests done. everything was fine cept that my blood pressure was borderline high. (140/90 ish) so again more reason for me to seriously quit....

I discovered e-cigs and ordered some up. Now I went with 0mg just cause I wanted to rid the nic, but generally liked the act of smoking..(nothing like blowing a nice smoke ring lol) But let me tell you the pannic attacks have NOT gone away yet, and its been 4 months since my last cigarette. DR has given me adivan for the panic. (although I haven taken one yet as I prefer not to, but its comfort to know I have them if I really needed it) What really ticks my off about the whole thing is wow, smoking is responsible for all this crap! The days I feel like I would cave, I just remember back to the night on the highway and all these attacks Ive had since then, and keep my ecig close so if the urge strikes, I can puff of that for a while...been completly amazing in that regard...

Now I will comment on the whole PG/VG. I can honestly say that I do NOT like PG. I always feel like crap when I've used it. I never feel "right" or myself. Headache, spacey etc...and with 0mg nic, so I know im not overdoing it with Nic, since its not there. I have switched 3 people at work over to e-cigs and they all use PG with no issues. Never heard them complain about lungs/pains/short breath. But for me, I just feel icky, so I will stick with my VG. I still think people are vaping WAY to much in compared to when they smoked, sucking on them like a pacifier...and mods and such creep me out too...just makes it look cronic to me. Moderation I think is key with these things, and listen to you body.
