Just back from the doc's, on an unrelated matter, and mentioned I'd ceased smoking, which cheered her quite a lot. Said I'd taken up vaping, and she asked first if I was vaping [other normally smoked drug that shall remain nameless in deference to forum rules]. I said, "No, certainly not!" and she responded, "Well, people do, you know."

But gist was 'yay for getting away from all the toxics in cigarettes' and 'meh on still using nicotine', pretty much in line with others' experience here.

The anti nic thing is interesting. Its not realy that bad for you. It does have a hell of a bad rap, and is addicting, but realy....I thought doctors would be much happier that their patience are cig free than people mention.

Her concern about the nicotine was only as it relates to my blood pressure, not in general. Or at least, so far as I gathered. She really was pleased about the cigarettes.

I blame my Irish mother for my nicotine addiction. Mashed potatoes were the gateway drug to Marlb Ultralights.

I feel bad for the Italians..... eggplant parmesan is the Marlb Red in nonsmoking nic equivalent.

I saw my Dr about a week after I started vaping. he was happy I quit. I brought in my pv showed it to him and explained what it was and he was happy. my bp was the lowest it had been in years. he was very happy about that.

went to my first doc's visit since i started vaping --- vaped in her presence even --- she was very happy for me and i sent her here for more info of course

I have to say I understand her worries regarding nicotine use and high blood pressure, she's a doctor, after all. I wish all doctors would refer strictly to the nicotine aspect when they bash e-cigs. A guy can dream, right?

My last visit to the lung doc, he looked at the amount of nicotine (24mg) I was using and told me for the amount I was consuming it was about like drinking a cup of coffee. He was all for it and also my B/P is almost normal after ???????????? many years.

Sadly it's a matter of our Healthcare specialists not being properly educated about vaping. My Dr. had heard about it but mostly from the "antz"- Health Canada. FDA, "non profit" pro non smoking orgs, etc. Once I explained things and showed him documentation he was flabbergasted that vaping wasn't being promoted by our Healthcare officials. Since then he's been busy on his own gathering info and says nicotine has been given a bad rap because of its association with analogs.
