iv been stinky free for about a year now i used to smoke newports. But every once in a while when out at the bar or just hanging out with some friends i will "treat myself" to a nice Flavored Cigar or a Djarum Black.

i know what most of you are going to say, how could you?!?!? you quit! stay quit! haha

i feel everything in moderation.
im confident and comfortable that i will never go back to smoking cigs i cant even stand the taste of normal cigs anymore haha.

im just wondering if there are other that do this?

I had my last cigarette in August, 2009. Not because I think there's anything wrong with smoking, and not because I don't believe I could vape and enjoy a cigarette once in a while, but because the only way for me to be a non-smoker is to not smoke them, and this way I don't ever have to think about when or under what circumstances I'm going to possibly smoke one. I just don't smoke, and have gotten completely used to that.

But everyone's different. I still keep ashtrays around for friends who smoke, and other people smoking around me doesn't bother me one bit.

Only been a little over a month but, my "treat" to myself was more stuff from one of my local vape stores. I think that'll be my future treats as well.

When the drinks come rolling in and you're surrounded by smokers, it happens. But like...halfway through a cigarette, after I realize how horrible they taste, I snap back and think, "wth am I doing?". I don't think there's anything wrong with "treating" yourself, but I can't smoke a full a cigarette just cause I'm so used to my green pear teas and my tsalaps!

I am one month into vaping and since buying my first ego set-up I haven't had a single cig. Last weekend was the first weekend I could say that my cravings subsided, as well as those random times when you still think "oh it's time for a smoke" then had to remind yourself you don't do that anymore.

Anyway, I have a few coworkers that have vaped a few months longer than me. Both of them said they tried a cig about a month after vaping and they both hated the taste and it reaffirmed that they didn't need a cig. I am kind of torn because I don't really have desire to have a cig, but because of their experience I kind of want to try it just out of curiosity sake and possibly put a nail in the coffin of smoking ever again. At the same time, it could be risky because I may just like it again, so I'm pretty fine not "treating" myself yet.

i think we may be getting offtopic a little here =P now i used to smoke menthol ciggs, im not "treating" myself with menthol cigs as that wouldnt be a treat lol i hate them now iv tried having one, yuck haha.

im talking like cigars, djarums or hooka (altho its been years sence iv had hooka (sheesha) =P )

my question wasn't is this okay, but rather if anyone else did it. there are plenty of people in the world that have never been a regular smokes that will have social cigars.

i was just curious as to given the situation we are all in being ex smokers does anyone else feel comfortable doing this and does do it.

I enjoy the occasional cigarette from time to time. I have had approx. 7 smokes so far this year and have enjoyed them. I'm really not worried about starting to smoke again because I refuse to pay the crazy prices. I just bum a smoke every now and then from friends of mine that still smoke, but will never buy another pack of cigarettes ever again.

see id have to buy a pack of cloves if i wanted them (because no one smoke them regularly) which im probably going to do tomorrow.
BUT at $7 for a pack of 10 hahaha yeah there's no way that will become a common occurrence XD and i might have 1 or 2 out of the pack and share the rest lol.

If you can handle it I say go for it. I thought the same for myself and a B&M Wine once a week turned into once a day, then half & half so I could enjoy it twice in one day. That is when I stopped "treating" myself. That was just a few months into my vaping career and it's been about a year now. I would not mind enjoying a real cigar and think I would be okay now. To be honest I think I crave Snus more than cigs now. I used them to help with the transition and was using two cans a day toward the end. But to answer the op, yes I have treated myself and was probably too green at the time. A nice Cohiba does sound very satisfying right now!

i totally agree you need to be at a point in your vaping career where you feel comfortable and confident. To me there's a fine line between treating yourself and cheating. Me personally iv been vaping for a little over a year now so im confident in myself that combined with the fact that i hate the taste of traditional cigs now, i fully feel like i can treat myself without relapsing.

it can easily be compared to drinking where as if you just overcome a drinking problem it (in most cases) will be a long long time before you are able to drink socially again without relapsing. Also say that persons drink of choice was scotch and now they only have rum socially or they were drinking hard liquor and now they only have beer socially. would be a good comparison to traditional cigs and non traditional ie: cigars cloves sheesha.

I don't treat myself with analogs. I don't feel that is a treat. Every so often my wife will tell me to buy something as a treat and I will try a new flavor e-liquid. Now that is a treat to me.

haha oh trust me i treat myself in that way also my credit card likes to remind me of that every month.

I have been 14 months smoke-free. However, my son and daughter wanted to "treat" me for a social night out together at a hookah bar to celebrate Father's Day. They know I've quit cigarettes, obviously, but they had already tried hookah and tried my e-cigs and told me they are quite similar in form and function. I was not quite sure exactly what hookah was, so I had to Google it.

It was a nice summer evening, and the hookah bar had an outside patio where we spent over an hour. They were correct, the experience of hookah was similar to vaping. Fruit-flavored tobacco through a huge water pipe. Surprisingly smooth.

I had no tobacco flashbacks or other side effects. I have no desire to smoke a cigarette, or to even try hookah again unless it would happen to be another social gathering with my children.

EDIT TO ADD: Let me emphasize here that my "treat" was not using the hookah tobacco, but in experiencing a positive social experience with my children. I could choose to look upon the hookah bar experience as a "test" for having overcome an addictive substance, and I passed with flying colors.

Not everyone will agree with my perspective. and many would never take a chance to try any tobacco product again once they have overcome the addiction. I believe some people's willpower is stronger than others, and most people know which category that they fit into. I'm extremely confident that I will never smoke another cigarette for the rest of my life. Their smell annoys and even disgusts me.
