Anybody that asks me when I'm going to quit vaping is a person that is about to get an education!

My answer is "never" followed by the question of why should I even consider quitting vaping.
This of course leads them into declaring whatever misinformation they have in their head, allowing me the chance to clear it up for them.
:)

Now there is one answer that does not necessarily involve any misinformation...
"Because you're still addicted, and addiction is bad."

This of course leads to a long philosophical discussion which satisfies neither of us.
:)

I actually really enjoy those conversations. Here's a perspective you might find useful: the internal, physiological mechanisms for addiction probably developed to give early humans a better chance at survival. Once "people" started developing habits that helped keep them alive long enough to reproduce, the ones who kept to those habits better had a better chance of surviving, reproducing, and creating a world in which humanity developed to the point that we can have this discussion.

It doesn't defend your addiction in any way, and it slightly begs the question of whether or not it's still necessary to have those traits. But it destroys their absolute judgement in a couple sentences……if they believe in Logic, that is.

As for the obvious retorts, you've got information about the benefits of nicotine and the fact that caffeine–a less beneficial stimulant with similar risks–is the most widely used and abused drug on the planet. The later is harder to argue with, but the fact that we don't need it right now is no indication that we won't need it in the future; there is no indication that human "development" is monotonic and to suppose that it is requires an assumption that the arguers don't share, meaning that it needs to be supported……which is impossible.

I hope that was clear.

I totally agree. I'm using them to get off regular cigs. Then I'll worry about getting off vaping (I think it will be easier.) If the industry was smart, they'd run some independent, peer-reviewed tests so we'd at least know something. My 2 weeks of vaping has been frustrating because of the lack of product information and professionalism. They also give a bad name because they say one cartomizer lasts as long as a pack of cigarettes -they'd don't even come close to that. No warranties. The corner store e-cigs cost me way more than regular cigs. Also the manufacturers have no info out there that I've found. Is there lead, mercury, asbestos, or something else bad in the cartomizers/atomizers? Lots of questions. No warnings that can cause throat irritation. I am constantly clearing my throat. I really think I'll try and stop vaping after my current equipment needs replacing. Too bad, because I can see it being very enjoyable, but without better business practices and safety concerns I can't see supporting these companies. I can understand the hesitation on their part though. It was take a considerable investment to make the above improvements and if it's then banned, it's money down the toilet. But they should be making sure it relatively safe. I can see why the Gov't is looking at them with skepticism because of the way they are doing business. Wait until big pharma gets in on the action - they'll all be out of business.

It is relatively safe.

People who sell them do lie to people about how far juice goes. It's just a flat out lie, and it's wrong. As for irritating your throat, I haven't found that……it just dries it. Propylene Glycol is miscible with water, so they dry out any mucous membranes it touches, including your throat. I think Vegetable Glycerine is the same way, but I'm not sure. So that's where that's coming from.

Everything else that's in them is also in food or medicine as long as the ingredients weren't contaminated……which basically means buy American if you can possibly do so.

Compared to something that will give you cancer if you live long enough, I think it's an open and shut case that vaping is preferable even if it's not perfect. But to each his own and good luck quitting.

Personally, I just wish head shops and mall kiosks didn't jack up prices way beyond reasonable and tell flat-out lies. There's no counting the number of people who've been turned off of vaping because of their :censored: :censored: lies.

I find the most negativity from ex-smokers that gave up cold turkey years ago, they chose their way and some are still struggling 5 yrs later, I chose mine and won the battle with the stinky sticks.
I just smile and nod at appropriate moments and then just get on with it.
Most people I know are happy about it and when they ask intellegent questions I answer.

When I first brought this up to my wife she that it would be a good idea to help me quit smoking. It just so happens it was. After a week of being smoke free she started asking me when I was going to work on a plan to quit vaping. I was a bit frustrated with this at first but it passed.

Now she is letting me buy mods and want me to try different flavors . She even asks me to vape Truth Serum because she likes the way it makes the office smell.

Its all about education and understanding.

That gives me an idea! One could point out that an office spends x amount of money on air fresheners etc. while a vaper could just sit at their desk and perform the same task for no cost to the company ;) hehe

I get it all the time and try to pick a vice of theirs (if I know them) such as...."You love Pepsi right? So why don't you stop drinking Pepsi?" They usually come back with the same S.A. response..."That's different, Pepsi doesn't have nicotine in it" to which my response is "Your right it's caffine"........TOUCHE!!

I forgot about that one, I don't use that comparison very often, I remember one guy doing the whole 'My body is a temple, yours could be too if you gave up the e-cigs', it is the only time I have gotton into a conversation where I changed his mind, my response was, since he had just been to the coffee shop 'Well you must think poorly of your temple since I see you have caffeine and loyalty cards for the coffee shop', 'Oh I need my americano in the morning, sets me up for my session at the gym', 'So I think we are even then, I drink decaff tea but vape and you are addicted to caffeine, I'll make you a deal and we'll quit our vices together', needless to say he admitted defeat

See I get that aswell. Especialy from my grandfather who smoked for 20 years and just stopped. Well my argument to it all is, and my MAIN point..... I ENJOY SMOKING!!, soooo my answer to that is vaping!, maybe I will get bored of it later down the line, who knows, but right now I need my nic fix and something to take my mind of this so called "modern world"... wow how much easier my life would be running around the jungle in a loin cloth :p , no technology (aka, idiot box/TV), no tosspots in goverment and no BILLS!!!!!...how one can dream ay.

But to the point, yes it is good to have someone ask that question. Even more so when they make out they know what is right and wrong with ecigs (as they happily smoke away 4000+ chems in an analog). Ignorance is a bliss haha.

I recently had a smoker discredit the fact that I was no longer smoking. She said, "Yeah, but those still have nicotine". :?: Then it dawned on me that she thought I was using vaping to quit. I said, "I never wanted to quit using nicotine, I just no longer want the detrimental effects of smoking". I got a blank stare. Oh well, I just figured she was too ignorant to figure out the difference.

I "unveiled" my PV at the bar when I got together with friends over the weekend. Most are non-smokers, or ex-smokers. I got a lot of blank stares, some small smiles and not a lot of comments. I have to say, for a second I kind of shrunk into my shoes, but then I realized that I'm doing this for me, and who cares what people think? I've been analog free for a month, and I know I couldn't have done it any other way.

My wife and I have been vaping for more than 3 years. I stopped smoking my nearly 3 packs a day cigs the day our first ecigs arrived. Within a month I parked my riding mower and went back to my push mower and my breathing has continued to improve. The doubters and nay sayers will always be around for this "new" product. For us, this is not a "new" product. After 3 years of continuous use, it's our way of life. We don't miss the burning paper, the real smoke from combusting plantlife and the thousand chemicals the government allows Big Tobacco to put in commercial cigarettes.

I've been going through medical stuff. I just had a radiology tech ask if I smoke.
I said, "Mehh, I use electronic cigarettes."
"How many packs do you smoke?"
"It's not a pack." Pulled out my eGo-C, "It's a cartridge with nicotine liquid."
"OK, how many packs did you smoke, for how long and when did you quit?"

And note this is at a place who's headquartered hospital includes ecigs in their campus ban on tobacco.

I don't get out much so I don't get any negative comments. Being a large ugly ex biker with a bad attitude and in constant pain pretty much guarantees no stranger is gonna comment on what I have in my mouth. :)

My doctors are ecstatic and if I told them I was gonna cut down the nic level of the juice they would be in the parking lot turning handsprings.

Those who know me have been supportive and those who come to me to fix their computer for free are usually smart enough to keep any negative opinion to themselves.
