Well I am now 4 months into this and since I did not have any smoking specific health issues when I started vaping - I have to admit that I am not noticing a huge difference. I do feel that I can breathe deeper and I am happy not to smell like smoke anymore, but that is about it.

I really had been hoping that quitting would make at least some difference to the back pain issues (since I have read that smoking is suppose to make this worse) but so far nothing major. Just starting to increase the exercises for strengthening back muscles - so I guess I will have to wait an see if eventually my back will be better for quitting.

i feel generally better and ofc i can inhale deeper. i don't cough anymore which was a major concern for me. i was coughing constantly either i was sick or not. other thing probably not related but i haven't got flu since i started vaping or any other kind of sickness for that matter. in fact ive been sick free for almost 2 years now. absolutely nothing, and i mostly move around the city with a moped

I too have back problems so I feel your pain! I haven't seen any changes as far as my level of pain either but that's why I started doing the yoga a while ago. I was tired of going through the usual rounds of chiropractors & physical therapy so I've been trying to strengthen my back muscles. My doctor approves of me doing it as well...both the yoga & vaping. Lol!

I smoked for 35 yrs. I have had 4 back surgeries and have noticed less pain. I get steroid shots every couple of month and when I smoked the pain was unbearable right before the shots. There is still pain but it is less intense. I do breath easier and have lost 50 lbs. My blood pressure and cholesterol have gone down so much I am off medication. So, overall I am in better shape since I started vaping.

I'm a bicyclist, not a runner. I've biked pretty much my whole life, and now that I'm in my 60s it's doubly important to me to stay active and in decent shape. For the first couple weeks after giving up the stinkies I noticed more phlegm, which gradually has been tapering off. I don't notice a dramatic difference in how I feel, but like zyglrox above, I do notice greater stamina and speed while on my bike. Today I had errands all over town, probably rode around 15 miles. I barely noticed the exertion, and was surprised it took less time than I'd planned.

I'm no runner and can be quite lazy but I have noticed a considerable difference in my breathing. I will never have perfect breathing. I'm fat and I know that. This causes breathing issues of it's own. However, I used to need a fan blowing directly on my face when I laid down or I was unable to breath. Within a few weeks of quitting smoking and starting vaping I noticed I no longer need that fan. I don't get shortness of breath as often as I used to.

Not everyone will be effected the same.

I find that in the short term (a few minutes afterwards) vaping makes my lungs feel a little heavy.

I had a pretty constant smoker's cough that all but disappeared a couple weeks into vaping. I notice that when I run now, I have to stop and heave and catch my breath, but before I'd stop and hack a few coughs out while gasping for breath.

The cough was a very quick and noticeable thing. When I started vaping, people in the office first noticed because I wasn't coughing.

For the record, I typically inhale into the lungs when I vape.

I no longer need to use a c-pap machine at night and can breathe and sleep all night long. I don't inhale the vapor fully into my lungs, I just first draw vapor into my mouth and breathe it out my nose and then draw again and inhale just a little bit into my lungs and quickly exhale out my mouth. Nicotine is absorbed through the mucus membranes of your mouth and nasal passages.

i think the reversal of damage to our lung will take just as long as we smoked.
ive heard that anyone who smokes past the age of 32 will never regain its natural state ever even if they quit.
i doubt i will ever have the same lung strength as someone my age that never smoked even 25 years down the line.
sucks that the damage that long term smokers will never be reversed but the good thing that is we stopped destroying our lungs and gave them a break.

Yea I figured that, I just wanted to double check. Its only been about a week since I quite smoking. I still like getting the throat hits like with cigarettes, and I only got 18mg strength of liquid because I didn't know what to get when I started vaping. But tomorrow I'm getting some 36mg liquid so I think that help me slow down on vaping and still be satisfied. With the 18mg strength I keep vaping and its not satisfying so I keep going and I get confused about when to stop. So a higher strength will make it to where I can vape for about 15mins and stop like I would do with an analog.

Since March 15th there has only been one day that I smoked. (One day last weekend.) I feel much better, even though my body is going through the cleansing process and not feeling completely great yet. I find I have more energy, can breathe better, and am coughing less. Went to an infrared sauna today too to sweat out the toxins, felt great afterwards. Gonna do this a few times a week for about a month.

Is there anyone out there that is NOT feeling much better after quitting analogs and vaping every day? I mean I understand the general consensus that our lungs will clear out after quitting analogs but just curious if this massive amount of vapor we are inhaling still affects us in any way.

Are there any runners out there vaping hard every day that can attest to clearer lungs and feeling fine while running? I want to start running after I have been off the stinky's for about a month. But I couldn't run a half mile before without having to stop and catch my breath.

myjayd, i notice from your banner sig you have only been cig free for 6 days. but in your post u say a month? hmm.. well.. give it a bit of time. it doesnt happen over night, but every day you will feel a bit better.

I haven't smoked a cigarette in about 4 years, switching first to Swedish snus and then vape, and I never felt any difference, which I attribute to having always smoked natural tobacco instead of the branded pseudo-tobacco marketed by BT. I only quit smoking in order to deal with my resentment over the numerous and various ANTZ pogroms.
