Does anyone still use "prebuild tanks", even you have a RTA/RDTA/RDA?

I still have tanks that use pre-made coils, my standard day to day tanks are still Kayfuns and other rebuildable RTAs, though if going out of town and to pack light I leave most of the RTAs at home and grab my Protank 2's and Subtanks to carry with, if I need a coil for them I can generally google search a nearby vape shop to get one if I don't have any spares, or lack the time to rebuild one, I carry a minimum of 20ft of 30awg Kanthal and a some cotton balls in my vape travel rebuild kit just for that purpose.

I just boiled two Subtank Mini and three Protank 2 coils. What went in brown and gunky came out bright and white. This was the second trip through for one of the Subtank units. I honestly don't know how many times the Protank coils have been boiled.

The PT's have silica wicks. They might hold up a while.

I haven't used factory coils in 4 or 5 years. I went to an RTA when Protank coils were lasting less than a day. At $8 per box of 5 they were getting expensive. The silver soldered legs were melting and opening up the current path. Eventually the Protank coil problem was fixed by wire welding the legs, but by that time I was enjoying my Kayfuns.

I have a vaping friend who says he gets about a month out of a TFV4 coil, so I guess the QC problem was solved by the technical departments of the manufacturers.

I'm still happy with coil winding and wicking with Koh Gen Do. It's a little more work, but the savings are still there. I replace a coil once a month or so and my wicks get replaced once or twice a week. I like fresh flavor.

I still have 2 or 3 boxes of Protank coils and Nautilus coils. I found them the other day in a storage box, along with a few boxes of SS mega LR cartos (2 ohm). I juiced up a carto and vaped for a while and went back to my Kayfun. Just me. Cartos weren't as good as I remembered.

I prefer just swap and go with premade coils. However, being able to rebuild is important for my peace of mind. I still use Protank II coils and Joytech CLR coils just because I CAN rebuild them if necessary. Other tanks need to have an rba head to be considered for my stash.

I use premade coils, i just don't have the time or interest to learn to make my own. I use a kabuki tank and premade coils last me for a couple months. I use mostly unflavored liquids with just a touch of flavoring. I can't say that would be true if i used pure flavoring though. I do make my own liquids as far as pg,vg and nic. I just add a few drops of trebeca and i am good to go. I just have better things to do then make my own coils. My time is very limited and the time i have i don't want to spend making coils. I just don't see the need especially how long my premade coils last.

I bought a ridiculously expensive (in hindsight) Z-Atty Pro, which served the purpose of teaching me I suck at building coils. So, in answer to the OP, yes I own one, and I use prebuilt coils exclusively. Pretty pleased with the Aspire Nautilus ... when I don't get a bad batch of coils.

It's reassuring that factory coils are lasting that long. I can see why vapers are using them. Since I changed to winding my own it's so easy that I can do it in a few minutes. 15 minutes a month for a new coil and new wick. Once or twice a week it only takes about 10 minutes to wash out the tank and re-wick.

You have to wonder what the FDA will do to restrict sales of factory coils, if anything. They seem to want to connect all devices that use ejuice with being a product containing nicotine, even if the device is nothing but glass and steel, kind of like bullets for firearms.

No. I got into rebuildables right after I started rebuilding protank heads and have only tried 1 prebuilt head since. That was on the original subtank mini. I'd been mainly dripping when it came out with an rba section and liked the idea of having a premade coil to pop in if the tank needed a rebuild but no time to do it. The rba kind of sucked so it got shelved and before I put it in the junk box, I decided to pop the premade coil in and try it out. It wasn't awful, but did not give me the vape I like whatsoever.
