Does duration of a single hit affect longevity of battery?

There's a slight trade off.

The start of the button push is the coil warming up, so if you were doing

half second drags, you'd get less vapor produced per second than if you were doing 5 second drags.

So 100 0.5 second drags wouldn't deliver as much nicotine as 10 5 second drags and you'd need to use more drags so more battery for the same amount of vapeing to occur.

Speaking strictly about battery drainage, the longer a battery is asked to provide energy, the more energy is consumed. Short pulse fires (pulse discharge rate) will consume less energy and be less draining on a battery. The longer you press the fire button the more energy is drained (continuous discharge rate), draining the battery faster.

For example, you have an ego battery which is about to be completely drained. To save battery life, you'd use short pulse fires to drain less battery life. Longer button presses would drain it faster. That's my opinion.

The resistance or ohm rating of the delivery device plays a factor in this as well. Low resistance requires more amperage from the battery overall because more energy is being pulled more freely from the battery. batteries do not "push" energy, they simply release energy within them.

When thinking about resistance, imagine water flow in two sizes of pipes. A wide pipe has less resistance for water flow and would allow more water to pass through it. A narrow pipe has more resistance and would restrict how much water passes through it.

I'll say that a single press for an equal time will be the most economical in terms of battery drain. A cold coil is more resistant to current flow than a hot coil. It's like stop and go driving vs a continuous speed. The postman doesn't get the same gas mileage stopping at each mailbox on the street vs just driving slowly all the way.

Once a coil becomes heated, electrons flow easier through the wire. It's overcoming initial resistance multiple times that eats the battery faster. Short vapes with a single press can be satisfying if there's enough air flow to create the vapor.

That is precisely the way I was thinking it would be.. But after reading other comments, I also see how a single push would be most beneficial.. Kind of like a car maintaining a speed of 45 mph getting better mileage than a car going 45mph that stops every mile at a streetlight.
