Buying new gear and juice, I mean.

After my doctor suggested that I look into vaping (since all other methods of quitting had ended in failure) I did a lot of research here before buying my first equipment. I read all of the threads about what people were recommending for a second rig, and ordered a Riva (1100mah) starter kit and some menthol juice. Then I got worried about equipment failure and being stranded (unable to vape) so I bought a second Riva starter kit. Then it seemed silly to have the spare batteries and attys, so I bought a couple of extra cones, giving me 4 Rivas.

After trying about 20 types of menthol juice, I discovered cartos and then LR cartos, so I had to sample each juice again. By the time I was almost through the whole collection, which had grown to 34 menthol flavors, I decided to try my first vv box mod. Wow! Some of the juices that hadn't produced enough vapor for my liking were now great!

So now I have to go through the whole discovery process again, since there were so many nice surprises. Of course, I got worried that I might drop and break the vv mod, so I ordered another one (and some more juice flavors).

My wife asked me if I was done buying equipment. That's when I began to wonder if I will ever stop buying equipment. I'm happy with what I have, and would like to think that I could get by with juice and carto purchases for awhile, but I have been wrong before.

Is there always going to be that one more piece of must-have gear to buy?

Not tonight!

I just ordered another 8 bottles of juice from Vapelicious.com, in hopes that I'll soon have enough to take me through the end of the world next year (Mayan calendar...). I'm not buying another thing...tonight! ;)

Tomorrow begins in 57 minutes, and I've got my eye on...........

It's technology. So I will say a flat out NO to that. Whether or not it is must-have is up to you, but there are going to be new things all the time, especially with a relatively brand new invention. I started a few weeks ago myself and did buy a lot of things - slowing down now - and I've resisted a few "BRAND NEW XXXX!" items, but I did just purchase a new riva vv battery which is great. I will be holding off purchasing anything for a while unless something breaks - you just... have to learn to resist, I think! There is so much potential to tinker with these that someone is always going to come up with the next must-have thing just a month or so after the last must-have.

Wait; your doctor recommend vaping? ... That's proof that vaping is good for you. LOL! as for your question, yes it does slow down. I personally set a limit for my self. Every month I load $100 on a walmart money card. That is less then half of what I would spend on smokes. Some months I don't buy anything and save the money for later. This is how I saved up for my provari.

I'm a shopaholic so it's tough to not buy stuff. The spending was crazy maybe the first 3 months then slowed down once I have favorite juices and models I was happy with and spares for everything. At 6 months, to go along with my drop to 6mg I bought a 3.7v Riva 510. Any additional hardware I've bought has mostly been plastic mods and spare or replacement parts for my existing equipment. I buy economical popular Boge cartos and I shop the sales for my favorite juices. I still spazz occasionally - like this week I bought 4 Virgin Vapor juices to try. But it has really slowed down.

I know that I'm just getting started on my buying frenzy!

With so many new and unique flavors, I have a pretty long 'wish list'.
All of the upgrades to my equipment will be a bit more expensive, but will still be a lot less expensive than what I've been spending on analog cigarettes over the past three decades.

A few months ago, I never would have believed that quitting tobacco and the 4,000 plus cancer causing chemicals would be so interesting & enjoyable!

I don't know, man. I just started on my vaping path this week and I've already blown through almost $200. I did pick up a starter kit for my dad as well though, so that factors into it. I'm hoping with my recent juice and black cartos purchase I won't need anything else for a couple of months, so I guess it's still cheaper than smoking. Of course, that's only if I can control myself and not buy anything else for a bit... It COULD happen! LMAO :facepalm:

I know what you're going through. I'm always surfing the classifieds looking for deals, between ECF and 2 other forums I now have the following stuff:

3 VV egos - These come to work with me. 2 came in a kit $60 and one was $20
1 E-Power - My 1st E-cig kit. $40
1 3.7 Box Mod - It was $10 and the guy lived right around the corner from me.
1 VV Box Mod - This is my home PV, great for when I'm playing WoW. $25
1 repairable 5ml atty/tank - another steal I could not pass up $70
630ml juice - various vendors and flavors that I may have paid $200 for from various forum members.
30 Cartos - Fluxos, Visions and Sapphires about $100

I guess my point is, it can get expensive if you let it and you don't control your buying and make that dollar stretch. I have been vaping for about 6 months now and besides my E-Power, VV eGo kit and Cartos I have not bought one thing new. So in 6 months I've spent $525 or $87 a month, a lot better than the $200+ I was spending on cigs. So now I have all the PVs I want a crap ton of juice and enough cartos to last I'm set. That's what I just had to explain to my wife about 2 days ago. Hope this helps some.

If it is working, than I say spend the money and be happy about it!

That has been my "excuse". The cost of nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, and inhalers from previous attempts to quit are still more expensive than my expenditures (so far). The cost of the fancy quit smoking programs are pretty high too. And then there is the $600/year that we save since I quit smoking. Hmmmm.... that's $600 each year. Hmmmm.... That plus the $100/week I was spending on cigarettes could give me a nice little budget. Hmmmm...

Somewhere out there
You know it is funny to me, when I smoked my biggest decision was soft pack or box or regular or 100's LOL!!! Now it is what color, what power, what flavors, and on and on. But it sure is fun and I don't think I will spend my whole analog budget of over $1600 this year. So anything I spend under that is a good thing! Of course I see I have to pick up a package at the post office and my new GLV 2 super mini is in, yippee!!!!!!!!! New PV to try:) happy vaping and shopping everyone. bnrk

I've only been in the vape club for 1 month and I think I've spent nearly $300. But with the 510s, I should be good for a while. Hmmm on second thought, there are a lot of options for 510s! Also I haven't found my juice yet. Which menthol juices do you like the most?

But back to your doctor. So he actually recommended vaping? Just a couple of questions.
What is his experience with e-cigs?
And did he say anything or have any warnings about the different types of e-Liquid?

Next month will be year 2 for me and my recient purchase of a provari just put me over $1200 total for vaping. That's only like 1/4 of the $4800 I would of spent on cigarettes an dip.

The buying comes in waves for me though. I will be online looking for some more juice next thing I know I am drooling over a GLV. I think that will be my next big buy. But when you take the big picture of how much you actually are saving, plus all the health benefits from stopping smoking, does it really matter if your buying slows down.
