I've got two vaping systems that I use. One is an EVOD clone, that I use in my house and office. In a gas station about a week ago, I purchased a Haus Mistic cig-alike, but with a small refillable tank. In general, the Mistic system gives a pleasing vapor, and since I'm using 48mg nicotine, it delivers enough to meet my needs. I use the 48mg/ml stock (75%PG/25%VG) solution to which I add some pulverized menthol crystal powder. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't know the mass of the menthol I'm using, but I make my juice in 20ml batches and what goes into that is the pulverized remains of a crystal that is about 16mm long and about 2mm wide. I've been vaping this juice in the EVOD for about 3 weeks now and haven't had any problems with it. However, last night on the way home from school, I vaped from the Mistic. The battery indicator "draw" light flickered when I drew, and sometimes did not come on, at all for the whole drag. When it did come on and produced vapor, the stuff tasted horrible. I know nothing about the coil in the Mistic, except that it must be pretty low Ohm, since the battery is smaller than the one that RJR's Vuse uses, and I can't believe it is a very strong current source. Anyway, does anybody have any information about menthol coil gunk?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mosspa,
I have tried the Haus liquids and atty. I think the battery and atty are too low for you probably. I KNOW you like the size of them, but I don't think you will be satisfied

No, I have been using my own 48mg juice and, until today, it was working great in the car. Actually, at the power it had, it was almost the perfect draw for me for my needs. I've got the coil unit soaking in an isopropyl alcohol benzene mix right now. I'm hoping that a solvent may clean up the gunk, if that is what really is at issue, here. I bought another starter kit, filled the tank with my juice and everything seems good again.

Thanks for posting

Do you "melt" the menthol in the liquid by giving the whole bottle a warm bath?
Crystals stuck in the wick might be a prob. Dunno. Cheers.

No. I pulverize them in a beaker then pour on the stock 75/25 juice. The powder completely dissolves with about 1 min of stirring with the transfer syringe needle. When I transfer the juice to the e-cig the menthol is completely dissolved, and the liquid is perfectly clear.

In my multiyear experience with menthol, mosspa, the only juice that is easier on coils is unflavored. I can get a month easy out of a coil with menthol, as long as it's not mixed with a darker juice. It's a pretty standard fact that the darker the juice, the shorter the coil life...it's those dark flavorings that are the culprit.

Thanks! As I have come t expect, it's the flavorings for which I should become more concerned, not the menthol.
