All I could do was think about cigarettes. All other functions completely went hazwire. Every minute of the day I thought about smoking. The only time I quit was when I was in the hospital and unable to go outside to smoke. The doctor gave me a patch to wear. This allevaited some of my discomfort but still all I could think about was smoking.

Do you still take nic, then, Rambling?
Looks to me as though I'll always have to have some, the gestures are not enough.

I sure do. When I started vaping I went very low nic, but learned I need the nicotine as part of the package, at least for now. I load 36mg before heading out to work, and refill mostly with 12-18mg after that. I hope to eventually wean off it, but I'm not pushing it - I'm just happy to finally have something that keeps me away from the butts!

I will have another go at going down to zero nic, but I was alarmed at the seeming consequences of no-nic. However never any ciggies again, that's for sure.

Best,

C.

Thanks for the choline-related links, vocalek! This is all totally related to the long and very detailed thread

IMHO, one needs to consider the MAOIs in analogs too. But yes, nic is my friend and mental fuel. Without it, my brain becomes my worst enemy. I do a LOT of programming, and if I didn't have my e-juice, NOTHING would get done! Losing friends would be the least of my worries...

The few time in my life of Smoking analogs for about 16 years that I have tried to kick them after the first day.It feels like every nerve ending in my brain is screaming and I feel like I'm going to lose it.I find myself having a very difficult time concentrating and drifting into dazes sometime well driving.I have to remind myself to pay attention so I don't wreck my car.I once quit for six months longest ever and that was after nicorette gum for three months. Those symptoms stopped and I felt normal without nicotine. But again missed smoking and after a few slips started again.Through the last seven months of using my e-ciggerette I've had about 3 packs of anologs mostly only in times were I broke a e-cigg or all my atty's died and had to wait for new ones.Other than that as long as my e-cigg works I'm fine I don't have any cravings.I actually like using my e-cigg much much more than smoking anologs, taste better feel better etc.Hope in some way this helps.

YES Indeed!!! I wish your poll were not so limited. Curtailed, not abstinence, resulted in:
heart palpitations
dizziness
nausea
urgent bowel
restless legs
spasmodic jerking

Smoked a cig and got immediate relief. Went to doc, he said may be tobacco withdrawal. Have had several more episodes, but less severe. Am currently undergoing a heart study including 3 weeks heart monitor, several EKGs, nuclear stress test and an echo. All studies so far are fine. All blood work is fine. Will see cardiologist on 11/25 so will talk to him again about tobacco withdrawal.

The times I did quit (went back) I found my immune system wasn't in top shape. I got respiratory infections much more commonly. That, and for a few weeks after I quit, I was very irritable, almost lost a girlfriend over it too. My concentration is definitely impaired whenever I'm not using nicotine. I think it might be slight ADD though, and nic is enough to help me focus.

The time I went cold turkey, I fell apart. Daily, crippling hysterics. Complete inability to work or do anything really except walk miles and miles at a time, late into the night.

I had heard withdrawal would be over in three months. So, astonishingly, I went three months on willpower. Then, I gave up and went back to smoking.

Now, I'm ALMOST analog-free on vaping. No problems at all. Amazing...

That would be a different poll, asking about the physical symptoms. This one was on the effect upon your ability to carry on with the normal activities of daily living.

Additionally, the damaged nerves in my arms would be in agony without nicotine. Given the amount of work I've been doing these last two months I should be almost crippled, but I think nicotine is allowing me to get doen what needs to get done, which is 99% keyboard...finger/wrist fine motor activity. I am doing better now than I was when smoking, which I didn't think was possible. But when I quit nicotine, the nerves are one of the first things to let me know. And it will likely be that way for the rest of my life. I guess that could make me a candidate for prescription vaping! Western medicine is in general worse than useless for chronic nerve pain.

Funny. Seems the PV has been working so well that I almost forgot about what the nicotine had been treating in me originally! Guess they work. For me Vocalek's OP question about nicotine abstinence would be like asking me if not wearing my eye glasses would cause withdrawal or negatively impact my life.

I stopped smoking once for 30 days in the military while living on base. Started again because I couldn`t get any sleep due to smoking in my dreams would wake me up. Which ended up bothering my roommates. I`d rip my bedding apart looking for the cig I thought I dropped till they would remind me i stopped and did not even have any to smoke.

After 3 day of no cigs I would be very grumpy and figured I was going to get hurt by others or myself if I ever tried again. Lack of sleep more then likely did effect my working ability which I`m thinking of now so actually I should have checked that box on the pole. Another thing I've noticed is if I cut back on cigs I was finding myself very sleepy. Could be my mind saying go to sleep we will smoke there.

I also found since the e-cig that I was feeling sleepy again. Then I was only hitting the PV every so often. Now I mixed a flavor with the juice I liked and hit it more often and found it weakened that sleepy feeling. Hitting the PV a bunch now keeps me up. I can for sure see what amount is good for me would change for another.

Once again this group has become a great source of knoleadge for me I thank you all once again.
