Does nicotine act as a flavor enhancer?

... like MSG does for food taste?

I am quite puzzled since I bought some 0 nic liquid and it seems flavourless. I am comparing it to same flavour in 8 mg, in a nautilus mini in the 8-10W range. Happens with 3 different flavours, same vendor, same everything except nic. I'm not talking about TH here just flavour. As soon as I mix some nic flavour starts to come up.

What's going on?

I don't know if I would Describe it as a Flavor Enhancer? But just about Every Nicotine Base I have ever used Does add some Flavor to a Mix.

How Much does it Add? Depends on the Nicotine Base. And of course, what the mg Level is of the Final Mix.

With premixed juice it's going to be tough to say exactly what is going on. I know my mixes taste the same with 0mg/ml as they do at 36mg/ml, so I don't think nic is doing anything to the flavor.

What I have seen is that some vendors add nicotine to 0mg/ml juice. Now if your vendor did that and the juice was a bit over flavored before the added dilution, nicotine, then it would make perfect sense since too much flavoring can dull the flavor.

I've only got one notable experience with a real change in taste adding nic and that is with Mad Alchemists juice Snow Whites Demise. At first I got a bottle @6mg and loved the flavor. Then a place online was having a special and I ordered one more @6mg and 1@0 to cut it down to 3mg as I work myself off the nic wagon. As a test I went ahead and loaded a tank with 0mg to give it a taste. While it still had the overall taste something was missing without a doubt compared to the 6mg taste. So I added 50/50 to begin it to 3mg and BAM the taste was back as was that little throat tickle from the nic. I wasn't diluting the base mix though so keep that in mind. Then the place online went and cut the price of this juice again down to $4.99 per 30ml Shipped! Of course I saw it to late but I managed to score their last 12mg bottle and 2 more bottles of 0mg. So now they are all cut together for 90ml's @ 4mg and in the rotation.

I have also gotten some MBV juices in 0mg and add a little unflavored 50/50 24mg base to them to give it some kick up to around 3-4mg and I can tell when I do that I get the throat and a light nic taste but lose a bit of the flavor overall from just being 0mg undiluted.

All over the place
I felt that ZERO nic liquid doesn't taste as good as liquid with nic. I used to say that nicotine was the salt of eliquid flavoring, simply meaning that it enhances flavors. I used to try ZERO nic liquids and felt that not only did they not taste as good, but they tasted kinda weird and bland. That said, it doesn't seem to be the case with my own mixing and ever since I started using an RDA, the only thing missing is that kick (when I mix without nic). Maybe the kick and the overall feeling of a nic-hit is what is missing. Don't know.

Edit: I just saw the part about MSG. LOL. I am with you. I get it, but it's different for my own mixes.

I had a strange experience today. I had some shrimp soup and after it I started to vape - without brushing my teeth first. I was puffing the same liquid - FC US mix from two identical setups - in 0mg and 8mg. The 0mg seemed less flavoured as I previously experienced, however the 8mg not only brought a stronger flavour of e-liquid but also a strong fish odor - like I had some shrimp soup in it. Obviously the only place the fish smell could come was my mouth. So I brushed my teeth and repeated the experiment. Now the 8mg brings a strong menthol (from toothpaste) inhale while the 0mg does not accentuate it.

I wish I had some unflavoured 0 and 8 mg liquid to test if the nic one would exarcebate smells from residues in my mouth (such as a meal or candy).

I can only speak to one instance of this.

I made my brother and I skittles juice. I used the same PG/VG ratio, only difference is my mix had 12 MG/ML nic. His tastes exponentially better. His flavor is mucb more true to the flavor juice and is more pronounced.

I guess I'm saying I disagree with nic being a "flavor enhancer." Or perhaps I need to start searching for other nics lol.
