Does steam cleaning Ego-T atty work? Please post good or bad results

Hi!

Read at the new member section that steam cleaning works for one user. I'm thinking of investing on a portable/handheld steamer if quite a few users have found them useful.

So please post if you have tried steam cleaning Ego-T atties and what the results are.

Just my 2 bits why invest in more equipment when isopropyl alcohol works great and it dries out faster ? No need to wait for the water to dry out alcohol is completely evaporated in an hour or two versus overnight + for water/steam.

Steam or solvents won't touch the caramelised flavouring build up on the coil. The only way to clear that is to pull the spike plate (so you can see the coil) and dry burn it. Then wash it in alcohol to get rid of the ash.

Think of cleaning your cooker. The burnt on grease that has turned to carbon can't be removed with steam or solvents.

Dry burning works great and I don't even remove the spike plate. A quick rinse with Everclear, pop on a new tank and I'm wicking like a champ after 4 or 5 puffs.

I don't know about steam cleaning but I just boiled some filtered water in my tea pot and placed my atty's into a rubermaid container and slowly poured the scalding water through the tops of the atty's and let them drain then repeat a few times then blew the excess water out. Once I was done it gave me the biggest Throat and Lung Blast I have had yet from it. It is incredible Be very careful if you try this though because it is very easy to burn yourself this way.

I have done every cleaning method out there.

For me 20 second shot with my new steam cleaner is the best cleaning I have come across so far.

I tried it both ways with out taking out needle plate out and taking it out. No difference ,,,,flavor has returned

I haven't tried the steam cleaning yet. I have access to one though. For those of you who have used the steam cleaning method, do you think it works better than the dry burn process?

eta...just saw where mgmrick above me says he has tried every cleaning method. I guess I need to check out the steam clean.
