Ok so i found a video with some tips to try; much of this has been said before, but here it is again. The last day and a half has been leaky! First, my 12 gauge piercing needles arrived today and I blunted the sharp and stuck it into a dowel for a homemade puncture tool. I took the silicone caps and rocked the blunt back and forth in a circular motion to cut the hole. Then I adjusted my wick up a wee bit.

Now the video tips. Make sure cap is clean of fluid, turn the battery upside down when you insert the tank straight up; never horizontal or tank insert down. I suppose this keeps juice from sitting at the hole preventing the silicone to seal against the wick needle. Pressed it firmly in and wiggled it (that's what sh...). He also recommends pressing button for a second or two before drawing, and of course draw lightly, This resulted in a good throat hit and good flavor. The tank has been on for about six hours and seems that leaking has stopped. Happy vape!

Someone posted a wick cleaning tip using a torch lighter. Coupled with Ping's pulse dry burn for the atty, it restores the tanks to like new condition. I do this once a week. It's also a very fast method.

Take a screwdriver to pry off the spike/wick.

Use a pair of tweezers to carefully pull the spike/wick plate out. (do not disturb the wick placement)

Use tweezers or a pair of pliers to hold the plate from the spike side.

Heat the wick under the butane torch lighter while rotating slightly.

Though you are only heating the one end of the wick, the entire wick (all the way through the spike plate) will be heated.

It will burn off all gunk, glow red, and cool off perfectly white.

You will now see a brand new looking wick all the way through to the spike end that you were holding it with the pliers or tweezers.

Let it cool off, then apply about 2 drops of juice to it, then let it sit.

Now, with the wick plate still removed, dry burn your atty.

Use Ping's method...
Blow out juice, press the battery button to make the coil glow red, then sustain a pulse. Blow on the atty from a distance while pressing the button a few times per second. This maintains a steady burning temp without overheating the atty.

I gently scrape the ashes/gunk off the coil while I give it burn breaks.

Rinse the ashes out of the atty with warm water or 150 proof vodka.

Repeat dry burn to dry out atty.

Let cool.

Now drop about 8 drops of your juice into the atty, and drip vape until you see some vapor.

Let cool.

Place your spike plate onto your filled cartridge.

Use the cartridge to push the plate back into the tank. Rotate the cart a few times once your plate is set back in.

Pull the cart back out. Your plate should stay inside the tank on its own.

Drop in about 2 more drops of juice directly on the spike/wick. This ensures that the wick stays wet.

Reinsert your filled cart.

Screw the tank into the battery.

Take a few quick hard dry puffs (puffs without engaging the battery button).

Unscrew the tank, wipe any excess juice off the tank battery end, and off the battery.

Re-screw back on & vape away!

This cleaning method only takes about 5 minutes. Using the lighter torch & dry burn to separately clean the wick & atty is a lot faster, and effective than soaking in alcohol, or dry burning with the wick left in place.

Your tank will work better than new & last forever.

It goes without saying that you do all of this at your own risk.

I just got my eGo-t type b 900mAh yesterday. I've been using a 510 with bud sapphire cartos, and had been scared off of the eGo-T initially because of negative stuff I see around here.

But then I had 3 batteries and my usb passthrough die on me in the course of a week (same week I finally quit smoking real cigarettes altogether). So with 2 batteries that lasted about half an hour each, I figured I could either buy more of those, or try the eGo and get a longer lasting battery. I figured worst case I would go back to using my cartos with eGo batteries, but the tank intrigued me, so I went for it.

Holy crap this thing is amazing. It came with rubber caps, and it hasn't leaked on me yet. I use 100% VG (from Virgin Vapor, its thinner than most VG but thicker than PG). I've gone through 3 tanks full of liquid (halfway through #4) and I still haven't used up the first battery!

I thought I was in heaven with the extra taste and ease of use of the bud sapphires. The T blows that away. And I don't have to keep changing the battery!

Only downside is that juice seems to go faster. I could vape for 3-4 hours on a bud sapphire, and I get maybe 2 out of a tank. But the tank should hold more. I've checked on each refill for any leaks but don't see any.

Someone mentioned a "Simple CJ's Mod" earlier in the thread, and I haven't been able to track that down. Could someone enlighten me?

But I really love this thing. I'll be sure to stick up for it when I see detractors in other threads!

I'm also interested in a DCT so I'd like to know if it's any good EGO T. Also keep seeing the Smoktech DCT. What about them. They're only $10. Thanks

I have 2 of the Smoktech DCT's (bought one for my husband) and love it! Lasts a few days with no filling. Price is right, what's not to love? :)
They're threaded for 510 though, so you'll need an adapter for any other battery....

Well, just received my 1000 mAh eGo-T usb pass-thru and my dc tank from Copper Creek. Filled it up with juice and vaping away while working. So far, it's great! Filled it up and primed the carto. It took a bit more than i expected to prime it, but now it's vaping like a dream! Once i get a full night or two of vaping with it, i'll come back and give you another update. I have a question for folks familiar with using the eGo-T. I have one (type b) and I love it. I have one problem with it, and its pretty small, but if anyone knows of a way to fix it I would appreciate it.

Whenever I refill a tank or change tank/atty, the first few drags are dry and burnt tasting. For instance, I'll go through a tank, pop the tank out before its 100% empty and refill it, put it back in, and I get a few drags that taste like dry atty.

I read (I think in this thread) someone's suggestion that when you get a dry hit, you take a few strong drags without pressing the button, to get the fluid onto the atty. Makes sense, and seems to work a little, because before it was 5-6 nasty drags, and now its 3-4.

Is there something else I can do? Can I drip into the atty or something?

Probably dripping into the atty won't help but it would be worth a try - not going to harm anything - a few drops.... I'm guessing that the wick is a bit short of the coil. You could pull off the spike plate to inspect it. But before doing that you could try a few other things. First, with a flashlight see if you can see the placement of the wick in the spike.

On the t - there should be a metal mesh holder which holds that end of the wick - although you might not be able to tell that if it's gunked up - but it should be visible at the top of the spike at the lower end of the diagonal cut. IF it's higher, then it needs to be pushed down a bit so the fluff of the wicking is closer to the coil. IF it's too low in the spike, then it's likely not wicking from the tank too well. Both conditions could cause a few dry drags with a new tank. If it's pushed down too far, then you're likely going to have to yank the spike plate and push up from the bottom unless you have some very small needle nose plyers :) or unless you can 'hook' it with a needle and pull up a bit.

Either way, do it a bit at a time and try it, rather than one big push or one big pull up. Hope that helps. If it isn't a big deal, just keep on vaping and know that the first few drags may be weak ;)

Tagging on to Kent C's post; I'd also look at the hole in the end of your tanks. If the dangling chad is barely open, the wick won't "wick" up to it's potential regardless of the condition and adjustment of your actual wick. What I do with my tanks is when I install a new one with the hard plastic caps, I initially push it on as the instructions tell you to do. This creates the initial puncture for the wick to pick up juice. I then twist it around about 180 degrees one direction and then go back the other direction while holding it in the atty as far as it will go. I fill the tanks without removing the caps by using a syringe. I have no leaks and get great wicking which equates to nice clouds and a great TH (depending on the juice)... Some TH better than others.

Hope this helps some.

Vape On!

Very easy fix hangwire...first make sure you don't over fill the tank, 1/8" below the cap usually works fine, if theres no air bubble in the tank wicking is almost impossible, then before you put the battery back on cap the bottom of the atty with your thumb and seal it tight and take a pull, once you see a bubble or 2 rise in the tank, your coil is now primed and ready to go, works for me every time.

I would post this in classifieds but I can not start a thread there... So does anyone have any of the following parts used for an eGo t PT in stainless steel they are willing to sell cheap?

cone
short cone
510 drip tip

also I need some advice...

I have an eGo T PT battery with a Smok Tech tank with 1.5 ohm Smok Tech dual coil 510 cartomizer. The thing is it hits really cold. In the summer I may love this, but what can I use in the tank to get a hotter hit?

Here's a method for cleaning C atty's, I believe it'll prolong their life, maybe indefinitely.

I picked up an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner at Harbor Freight to clean my old T style atty's, it did an ok job, not great...not the case with these C units.

With a cup of boiled water in the cleaner I dropped in a gummed up atty and spike/wick plate, I positioned the atty part facing up so I could see the coil, after 2 three minute cycles the coil was spotless and looking new again, same for the wick, right back to white.

Once removed and blown dry I performed the dry burn to see if the coil was firing all the way across, indeed it was. Not having to dry burn should definitely prolong their life.

I tried this method initially with both a 510-T and an Ego-T but didn't have any good results. I'm trying it again after reading this just to be sure. For me, it cleaned the wick great, but only took off the pain of my atty's. I'm trying it now using the atty face up to see if that helps.

In the past, my surefire way to clean the heck out of the exposed coil was to use my waterpik. While it can be kinda messy and a lot of work with disassembly nothing I have done works better.

We'll see if 2, 8 minute runs in the ultrasonic does anything.
