Does the KR808-D Starter Kit have everything I need to get started vaping?

So I have done a little research thanks to this site, but I am a total n00b to vaping so I am still a little confused.

I found the KR808-D Starter Kit and I think I would like to buy this one, unless anyone can give me a reason not to.

I smoked for 13 years. I "quit" 6 years ago, but I still smoke whenever I drink. I just can't resist having a smoke with a beer. So I'm sick of the sore throats the day after, the wasted money, the girlfriend telling me I stink, etc etc. So I thought I would try vaping when I drink instead.

I would like the ones where you have to "take a drag" to make it work (not the button-pushing ones).

I would like tobacco flavoured one.

I would like the option of having no nicotine at all (since I am mostly just addicted to the action, I think).

I want this one...

KR808D-1 Starter Kit 280mAhBut it doesn`t ask you what kind of flavour you want. It says it comes with Clearomizers but I don`t know what those are and it gives no explanation on the site. It also has a section for ``eliquids`` but the link goes nowhere. I am assuming the eliquids are the flavoured part.

Please let me know if I am missing something here!

It doesn't look like it comes with liquids to me. Maybe I'm missing it.

There are lots of great options for liquids, but I've heard that suppliers who mainly deal with hardware are not usually the best places to get good juices (I'm sure there are some exceptions).

I make my own juice, so I can't give you any suggestions, but you can check out the e-liquid forum for specific recommendations. Finding a juice you like can be one of the biggest challenges in switching to vaping. It takes some testing. I'd recommend getting a couple of variety packs of sample sizes rather than buying a few large bottles to begin with. As soon as you find one you love, go ahead and order a larger bottle of it along with some more samples of different flavors so that you know you will at least have a good supply of one that you like.

A 280 battery will last you about 3+ hours of continous vaping. Obviously you won't be vaping continously for three hours straight so maybe 4-5 hours. I'd probably get at least 1 more battery.

Prefilled cartomizers taste pretty bad and don't last that long. I'd buy a couple of boxes of KR808 cartomizers and about 30 ml of juice from a juice vendor.

The average is about 2/3-5 ml per day. A cartomizer holds about 1 ml, but you don't vape it bone dry so figure 1/2 a mil in a carto. If you're at the lower end, that's about 6 cartos of juice per day.

If you want to stick to prefilled cartos for awhile, V4L, Smokeless Image, LiteCigUSA, Bloog sell prefilled cartos. A cheaper route is to buy empties and fill them yourself. It's very easy to do, cheaper and taste better.

Good luck!

If your going to get your own juice, make sure to get manual batteries. Getting juice in an automatic battery will kill the battery.

Canvape is run by a highly respected member of ECF and is an ECF listed vendor. His prices are great but he sells NO juice. The kit you're asking about has 1 auto and 1 manual batt- manual means you have to push the button. Batts are only 280 mah so they'd only be good for about 2 1/2 hrs max. If you have any questions email the vendor and he will respond quickly to your inquiries.

If it comes with empty cartomizers you need eliquid of appropriate thin-ness for cartomizers which should have more PG than VG (I use 80PG/20VG). If the cartomizers are clearomizers (which warning - can crack and break, and can be cranky to get vaping right, may need modding, not what most use) then you need a syringe or appropriate gauge (I think blunt) or a filling kit that includes syringe and special tip and as well you need eliquid (recommend 30% Vg or less).

Most people use normal metal tube stuffing-filled KR808D-1 cartos. I think Happy Vaper in Canada has the Bloog style (KR808D-1 threaded) and a KR808D-1 can use Bloog cartomizers which are nice (blanks and prefilled). You can also use Boge 2.7v KR808d-1 cartomizers or 3 ohm but 3ohm is a bit cool (blank). And Best Vapour in Canada had SmokelessImage Volt (same as Bloog) and you can use Volt cartos.

And I recommend manual batteries which are what most people here use and recommend. They are harder to damage or kill with juice leaks and easier to get a good hit/drag every time.

And be sure to check out the Canada forum in National Forums, and as well the Canada Classifieds and Vendor section in Buying & Selling (you need 5 non-spammed New Members posts or replies then a 1-hour wait to be able to post elsewhere)

That's auto. The manual w/ a button lets you hit the button a sec. before taking a drag. The kit has both so that's a good way to find out which you prefer. I started w/ the button type, it's nothing to get used to & only use manuals. :smokie:
You need liquid & can get prefilled cartos to start if avail. in 0 nic.

I don't have much experience with 808s, but I did just buy this kit for my dad for Christmas because it seems like a good starter kit. Everyone is right that these batteries are fairly short-lived compared to others, but if you only vape when you're out drinking then one of these will probably last you the evening, and both of them certainly will. This kit also looks a lot like a cigarette, if that's important to you. That's why I got it for my dad and his wife. They had tried the gas station e-cigs and complained about the blue and green LEDs. The cartomizers also come pre-filled, so you don't have to worry about learning how to fill cartos right away.

Edit: That site, Madvapes, also has a wide variety of e-juices, as well as replacement equipment. You'll find that many e-cig companies tend to specialize. You can order everything you need from Madvapes though, which is probably better than paying shipping from 2-3 different places.

Wow! Thank you all for such great responses. Lots of great info for me to consider!

If your going to get your own juice, make sure to get manual batteries. Getting juice in an automatic battery will kill the battery.

So if I understand you correctly, I can only use pre-filled cartos with automatic batteries? If I use blank cartos and fill it with my own juice, it will damage the automatic batteries?

I checked out HappyVaper.com, but unfortunately everything I want from that site is out of stock! (Bloog MaxxFusion starter kit + certain eliquids). I smoke Belmonts so I really wanted to try the Mont Bell Milds eliquid. :(

Not sure if I should wait til they're in stock or buy the Kanger KR808-D from Canvape.com.

Also for juices there's another TO vendor that you could get juices from so you'd be saving on shipping. The one problem, at the start, is ordering from multiple sites and having additional shipping costs for each order. Canvape is also in TO/ Southern Ont.

That's a good point. Could you pm me the eliquid vendor in Toronto?

Thanks again everyone for all the info, I will continue the research and explore the other subforums!
