Hello,

Greetings from Egypt!

Some guy who is an admin in a Facebook group for vaping in Egypt is debating with me about the usage of the word "Vape" and he claims that it is NEVER used to describe the e-cig although that I brought him the word difinition from Oxford Dictionary and other references.
Does the word "Vape" mean "e-cig"?!

Vape as a noun often refers to a particular flavor or e-liquid, as in "my all day vape." I haven't heard it used to mean e-cigarette.

Vape is something you do. For example: I vape using an e-cigarette. I vape with an e-cigarette.

Yes,depending on the context. Many refer to their e-cigarette or personal
vaporizers as there vape.
Noun: where is my vape.
Verb: I am going to vape.
Many language purists take offense to this usage but, it is a firmly entrenched
usage of the word and it doesn't look like it's going away.
Regards
Mike

Well:
vapor, noun = what is produced from "vaping", also a synonym for "steam" in non-vaping use.
vaper, noun = identifies person engaging in activity of vaping, like "surfer".
vaping, noun = the practice of using an "ecig" device, a noun in the same sense that "surfing" defines the sport, -ing not to be confused with the present progressive verb tense. Technically called the "gerund" form.
vaping, verb = progressive form of "to vape" We are vaping.
vape, verb = infinitive; "to vape". Present simple: He/she/it vapes, I/we/they/you vape. Past: vaped. Future: will vape OR am/is/are going to vape.
vape, noun = slang referring to anything vape-related. I use it to refer to my setup. "Where the hell is my vape?"

Most people refer to their e-cig as an e-cig. Not many refer to it as their vape.

I never refer to my gear as my "e-cig". It is not a "cig". It is my "vape". :) Back in the day when I used EGO twists, I called them "ecigs" simply because they resembled a cigarette more or less. What I use today in no way resembles a cigarette.

Well truth be known, it has and always will be a personal vaporizer ( PV ) or now better known as APV advanced personal vaporizer, the concept is not new, been around since the late 80's but since has been used strictly with
"nicotine" flavored juice and there hence the name change.
Personally I think when adding the word cig, was the proclamation of abomination, SO vape suites me just fine.

I think the word VAPE is used to describe our gear the same way most of us, as smokers, would bum a "smoke" or buy a pack of "smokes" etc. Of course a pack of tobacco cigarettes are not "smoke",
but a slang term we use that describes what we intend to do with the product. Most folks will know exactly what you mean. Cheers.

I call it "my puffer" now.

But I see e-cigs. as the original cigarette looking devices. Now I call them "vapes" or mods.

We don't smoke "e-cigarettes", we vape, we puff.

Now, with mods and tanks, they are a whole different thing... it's like comparing a bicycle to a jet.

As we should pull away from the whole tobacco/cigarette thing, which has been the biggest problem with the witch hunt, I would discourage people from using the term e-cigarettes.

Great an English class.............

I never understand people:

Check out My Vape!

1) I'm expecting a Cloud
2) They hold up a Mod
Ummm....................That is your Mod, you Vape it.

Yea, it's My new Vape......

I think it's more a question of ease to say.

Technically, it's not just a mod, but tank too. So saying "vape" instead of "mod and tank vaping kit!" is a bit easier.

I'd think someone wanting you to see their cloud, they'd say cloud?

That's just me.

I consider a Mod a Complete functional unit. A Battery holder and a Tank :D

Actually, When showing someone something new I've purchased I say "my new Setup"

Hey, I'm 62 wacha spect?

It's the whole.. pass me a kleenex thing, coke, and such... we go with what's easier.

My daughter was calling it her "smoke".. and I'd twist and twitch.. "It's a PUFFER, it's not smoke!"

I call my mod my joyous steam powered thunderstick of fruity vape goodness.
When I vape, I am vaping.
When someone pisses me off and/or I feel powerless to do anything about the incredible injustices in the world, I wish I had super powers and could vaporize an entire city block with my awesome powers in order to take them out. But then I think about the collateral damage and just have a vape and calm down and think about how cool it would be to just be able to fly. Yeah. Flying would be cool We need to work on that. Then, when I would be flying, the happy, joyous contented people would be like "Hey, look at that guy flying! He looks so happy! You go happy flying man!" And the bitter trolls who roam the earth would be like "Hey, look at that fat guy flying! You should wear a Good Year suit, ya blimp!" Then I could drop things on them with no collateral damage.
