I agree that it is kinda irresponsible and a hurt to the industry with the way some vendors are labeling their juice and politicians are saying "What about the children, save the children, they are marketing to children." I say {Moderated}, the children DONT NEED PROTECTION, THEY NEED {Moderated} PARENTS THAT WILL PARENT AND NOT ASK OR EXPECT GOVERNMENT TO DO IT!!!!!! ok off my soapbox now. But, realistically how many of these BS government officials are seriously worried about the kids? They are more worried about the declining cigarette sales from the big tobacco companies and lost revenue from the MSA that they signed years ago. The fight from politicians is that it is a gateway to smoking. Really? When was the last time any one of us as vapers had a cigarette and enjoyed it as much as we used to? I have been vaping for 9 months and quit the day I started vaping, i tried one cigarette about 1 month into it and found that cigarette to be the most vial thing i have ever inhaled. How did I ever let myself start smoking in the first place?

Lighters, butane, fruit flavored "cigars" -all of these products are still available for purchase quite easily by adults. I just can't see e liquid regulations being even more restrictive than tobacco regulations.

Why do so many here think it's all going to go away? Seems like very overblown fears to me. Many European countries have far more restrictive tobacco laws than we do. We still have nice, colorful tobacco packaging -they have nothing but warnings and grotesque pictures to scare people off. They can't even put a logo on their packs.

I'm all for staying vigilant and fighting stupid laws, but I also try to keep some perspective.

cigars and "little cigars" are actually included in the proposed deeming that is due to come out soon, which also includes e-cigarettes. They haven't been forgotten, don't expect to see fruit flavored cigars for much longer.

Sadly, they are going after everything. Now that trade with Cuba has resumed. I am so looking for toward a authentic Cuban cigar but not at that price.

Ha. Remember the Sugar Act of 1948? Now they will "open" the trade but not before they vilify & overtax sugar cane. Incidentally Dr. Glanz is involved in bashing sugar too.

Yeah (Glad I wasn;t around then).. last Cuban I had was in Mexico many years ago. I accidentally had some in my suitcase when I return but fessed up at customs. They went in the trash. Bah I hate be a do-gooder.

My guess is 100 bucks for one Cuban after they get done. Cost 43 cents to make but after the government gets their cut. I wonder if the put a little cute cartoon on it and call it smurttlegar.. if they woudl have issues?

Dr. Glanz is involved in bashing sugar too.

This is the next most logical step for these freaks.
And so it was pretty much preordained that they would turn their attention in that direction.

I guess they'll find a way to keep doing what they're doing.
Even if vaping destroys their primary mission.

yes your right. if Congress elects to review it.
if not it will be the law after the waiting period.
regards
mike

This is exactly correct Skoony, all congress has to do is what it does best... nothing, and the deeming regs will pass. And I think that is exactly how this will happen. Why would anyone in congress want to put their name to passing these regs when they have plausible deniability if they do nothing? They can jump to either side of the fence after the regs pass depending on the best political advantage to themselves. There is currently not enough political clout on the vapers side to make any member of congress want to overtly support defeating the proposed regs, but they can claim they opposed the regs later if they see an advantage. Self serving system? Yup. And every member of congress knows how to use this system to their own advantage. Look for de facto passage after the waiting period expires.

If this passes by exceeding the waiting period, it is essentially the FDA creating and passing regs all by themselves without the legislative branch of government even being directly involved at all.

Am I too much of a pessimist about how our government works to believe that not only will it happens this way, but this has been the plan all along? Maybe it's just me not having enough faith in our government.

Here is what I am confused on by this. The regulation has nothing to do with congress. If fact, there is no vote on what the FDA can do. Some act of 2009 or 2010 gave them the authority to regulate tobacco products. At one point they tried to regulate ecigs as a medical device. That was shot down. Then the forced ecig devices to be held. Again the courts sided with the other side and the FDA had to release them. Now 2 years ago the FDA said they would release deeming regulation so that people can comment on it. That is where we stand today.

As far as congress and that group of windbags... they have nothing to do with it. The FDA can do what they want. One reason the FDA and EPA are a group of useless money hungry elitists. They don't answer to anyone.

I could be wrong and feel free to let me know.

If you decide to Not take an Action, you still have taken an Action. And doing Nothing is the Same as a vote of Endorsement for the FDA Deeming Rules. Which is Not going to Endear yourself to Vapers and Smokers in your State.

A Smarter thing to do would be to be Support some of the FDA Rules, Like Age Limits, and Marketing, and CRP. But to Contest some of the Other rules. Like Closed Systems, very Low Nicotine mg/ml limits, Extremely Restrictive Flavor Bans.

This would give the ANTZ in your State something they want. But would also give Vapers something that they want also.
