I only drip my devices. My opinion is that dripping can reduce the life span of an atomizer and certainly increases the chance of fouling an automatic battery.
The cartridge filler provides an a relatively constant, controlled amount of liquid to the mesh-covered bridge. Wicking action and gravity continue the flow of liquid to saturate the mesh surrounding the heating coil. When you take a draw, the liquid in the mesh is drawn toward the heating coil from this metal mesh. Iverall, this mechanixsm is inexpensive and works fairly well.
Dripping tends to introduce more liquid than an atomizer is meant to handle. This leads to flooding (filling of the ceramic cup in which the heating coil sits), excess liquid running through the atomizer into an automatic battery, leaking around the atomizer/battery connection, and, the potential of '
juice in the mouth'. The real problem can be dripping onto a heating coil that is not cool enough. This will stress on the atomizer heating coil going from a hot state to a cooled state quickly.
I like dripping as I can control the amount of liquid I want to use depending on the device I am using or how heavily I may be
vaping. I think taste is better when dripping and the airflow is increased by not having a cartridge in the atomizer tube. Recently, I have reduced the number of drops of
e-liquid I am putting into an atomizer which has helped make the experience a little less messy, though, I do have to drip more frequently.
