vaping produces loads of phlegm, but it's generally loose and easy to cough up. I have a Zenker's Diverticulum (pouch that forms from a weakness in the wall of the throat), and this fills up every night with vaping phlegm. A gargle to add water and a good cough in the morning to empty and I'm good to go. ;)

After vaping heavily for over 2 years now, I have no throat irritation or "smokers" cough whatsoever, and the developing emphysema and emphysema medication I was on 2 years ago is just a distant unpleasant memory. At the last check up at the doc, he reckons I now have the lung capacity of someone 20 years younger.

Vaping saved my life, so if I have to cough up some phlegm in the mornings to continue using nicotine, so be it, I'm happy. :)

It definitely does....I just posted a new thread in this sub-forum because of some new, multple issues I'm having with mucus.

But I am not going to go into that here as this is a separate thread. But as for mucus, not sure if anyone mentioned it yet...I think it has everything to do with mainly china juice - I say this because ever since I stopped buying it, my acid reflux along with mucus production decreased dramatically.

The n-joy brand was really brutal on me......I just had a disposable blu-cig last night and while blu isn't really the choice for most at ECF.....they use 100% USA juice and I have to admit....if you haven't tried their disposable yet...do yourself a favor and pick one up - huge, consistent vapor production on every hit & no big drags needed - the best part - no coughing or hacking up tons of mucus!!!! (and the point to why I brought up the dispoasable blu-cig...oh and the blu disposable lasted me 2 days).

No more daily tear-shedding, dizzying, bend-over-and-grab-my-knees coughing green chunks fits or being awakened nights from crap rolling around in my lungs. I gladly accept the few daily coughs, whatever the reason. I didn't switch to vaping to live longer, I'm doing it to live better.

Amazing what I used to tell people about Camels. If I lose my jaw and end up in an oxygen tent, just light one up for me and plug it in one of my nostrils.

Two months March 6th I've been absolutely free of desire for an analog; same for the wife on the 7th. Now something else is going to kill me and I'll happily accept the alternative with the coughing/phlegm reduction.....along with the reduction in taxation and exorbitant assisted suicide payments to the tobacco industry.

I had a lot of phlegm the first couple of months of vaping, not so much coughing it, but it was obvious when I talked to people (they could hear my voice was clogged up with it, always asking if I had a cold or something). Seems to have cleared up a lot in just the last two weeks, I still have some but I can clear my throat now. I vape mostly VG which is thicker than PG, I think that is why I have this issue.

I have been vaping for a year, and for me the phlegm didnt get better but actually got worse. I have no doubt the phelgm is due to vaping because on days i vape non stop, the phlegm gets really bad. Yes i can eventually cough it up but it takes a while for it to get to the point where it can be coughed up. Once i get it out I am okay until the next time. It is annoying, it just feels like i have this sticky film that i cant get it out of the back of my throat.

The phlegm is very sticky... several time i coughed up some in the sink and tried to wash it away with running water. But it just is sticking to the sink i had to use my finger so it will get washed away.

I actually have some issues with vaping. I chain smoke my PV most the day. Every morning I wake up and have a tightness in my lungs (like a pressure on my chest), it decreases throughout the day but it is always there. I smoked a pack of cigs for about 14 years, had the same problem toward the end of cigarettes. I had hoped this issue would go away with vaping, guess not. I have tried 100% PG, mix of PG and VG, seems like VG makes it a little worse but it is hard to tell. Might try 100% VG but I would have to give up cartos cause VG clogs the hell out of them. I am going to try PEG400 ultrapure quality someone linked to about 8 pages ago. See if that helps.

Not inhaling into the lungs helped me a lot. I had to be very conscious each time I vaped and it took a while to develop the habit of holding the vapor in my mouth and not pull it into the lungs. Now that I am used to it, my lungs seem pretty clear. Sometimes I get phlemy in my throat, but that is not as bad, I sometimes have to clear my throat to talk, but doesn't affect my breathing. When that happens I know I have been inhaling too hard again.

I quit the analogs 22 years ago, so all the lung "goo" is long gone.
But the redman chew kept me hooked for about 13 or so more years until I tried my first e-cig.
Ain't touched tobacco since :)
I did notice that all my juices that were 70/30 VG/PG caused some serious "throat oysters" for me.
It got bad enough that I thought I'd better put down the ProVari :(
Then I swithed to DIY juices and now make everything up 70% PG 30% VG and the phelgm is completely gone !!!!!
Loving It more every day :)

I've been vaping for little over a year now.
I vaped 50/50 exclusively and gradually lowered the nic levels, and other than occasional throat dryness, no major problems.

I recently tried 100% organic VG for the first time, it took a couple days but my god that thing wreaked havoc on my system, with endless clear yucky phlegm that just wouldn't stop.

It took me a few days to realize that the VG may be causing it, because I was coming off of a seasonal cold at the same time so I figured it was causing the phlegm.
However, after several days all cold symptoms went away completley but the phlegm stuck around like crazy.
I tried to think what could be causing it, and it dawned on me.

I now switched back to my old 50/50 and the phlegm is back to normal.
So I can say for me 100% VG is trouble. YMMV.

I do notice that some juices make me cough. And some days, all juices make me cough. I haven't really experienced a lot of crap in my throat lately; either I am getting used to vaping, or maybe it's because I've been using 6 mg. for the last few months.

The ones with the strong throat hit make me cough a lot.

The general consensus seems to be high VG can cause this. (I really think it's different from person to person.) However, you also have to consider other variables. Do you still smoke? Did you just recently stop? A lot of things happen when you put the analogs away. At 70PG/30VG, I have no trouble. I do keep a certain, occasional cough through the spring and summer months, but I do live in Tennessee and the pollen count is through the roof. So, again, another variable. :|
