Does your RM2 ever POP so hard it scares you ??

Seriously ..... My two chalice attys never pop .... they crackle nice and sweet though.

But my RM2 once and a while pops so hard I actually jump. I can feel it in my mouth ......

Quite often its the first hit after its sat idle for a few minutes. Its done it with a bunch of different coils with both cotton and silica ..... weird .....

Anyone else ??

Never to the extent you are describing. When I build a new coil it pops for about the first hour then settles into a hiss. It never pops so I feel it or scares me. GOtta love those pops though.

My new coils do that, especially when I use cotton.
But after 10-15 hits, everything is smooth.

I've had that happen a few times. I kinda liked it because it'd shoot a little vape jet out of the airhole, which looked sweet.

Haven't had that happen for a while tho, and not sure exactly what caused it.
My best guess would be that It's caused by how tight the wick is wrapped.

I wouldn't say it scares me, but the only popping I get is with the 0.5Ω coil, and then only after I put some spacing between the wraps.

Mine's pop'd hard before if I still had some moisture under the cap from not drying it enough after washing the atty but not on normal use.

Maybe a couple times a week mine will pop really good, usually after a rewick. It is always a surprise and good for a pause, a smile and then continue. I should probably check the screws on the atty and make sure they are still tight after it happens.

Happens to me sometimes too. Just yesterday, it popped so hard it startled me. It didn't shoot juice into my mouth but it was like a supersaturated "taste poof" of vapor But it's a rare occurrence and usually happens if I haven't hit it for long time. Don't know why it happens but most of the time it is behaved.

BTW, minigoat, love the avatar. I'm a sucker for a nice 64'-67' goat.

Happens to me from time to time and I have a few things that I double check: wick hight is it too low laying in pooled juice? Is my wick choking the coil? Do I have a hot spot? Is my airhole lined up right? I don't know if any of those are the culprit but maybe??? So many silly variables in our vaping world drives me crazy sometimes...

Weird, I would think its something in my coild building then, but I make them the same way for the chalice and it never pops.

The RM2 does it at least once a day usually more. Since I noticed it happens mostly on the first hit after sitting I've tried it both squonking first and not squonking before and its happened both ways there so its not the wetness of the wick.

Not a big deal I guess ..... It has not blown up or shot the drip tip down my throat so that's good

I have read in some of these threads that sometimes the cotton has a piece in it that is lumpy. Like a wad that did not get shredded with the rest of the cotton, leaving a little ball in there. I have heard that to be the source of the popping. However, I have never had that problem. I have also read of some people getting cotton that has bits of plant residue in it. You might want to look there.

Edit: Here is a link to take you to really clean cotton. Try some of this and see if you still get the popping.

Just maybe your rm2 has hard feelings with you showing all the love to your high class chalice . Try talking nice maybe a few words like I no your not made of stainless and your a little rough on the edges but I still love you baby

Thats awesome .... I have been loving it up lately .... my feelings for it have really changed the last few weeks.
So much so that I was just thinking about getting me a nice brass one

Thank you, that cotton in the link looks luscious .... Yes my CVS cotton roll does have a lot of little balls in it.
But the thing is I'm pretty sure its done it with silica too, not 100% sure though. Maybe I'll check that out.
