I think it's time I join the group.
I went completely smoke free 11 weeks ago... pack a day smoker @ $7.50 a pack I have now not spent $577.50 on cigarettes.
However I just totaled up my orders in the last 12 weeks since I made the switch and I have spent a little over $900. I own (or owned and gifted to others) 3 Vision Spinner 2s, 4 heavy duty pen batteries, 4 1100 mah stick batteries, 2 variable voltage batteries from China (I don't even know what they're called) 3 Kanger Aerotanks, 2 protank 2s, 2 k1s, dozens of cheap plastic tanks that didn't last, coils for everything I bought, and then the ridiculous amount of juice, orders from Mt. Baker, ITC, DeeJ,Vape Wild, Nicoticket, Five Pawns, Viking Vapors.
At this point I am finally settling in with 2 Isticks, 2 Naut minis, 1 Naut, a couple of Aerotanks and k1s. If I don't buy a single thing for the next 10 weeks I should at least break even... I wasted so much money on stuff that just didn't work for me:(
I have spent the last year losing weight, getting in shape and now becoming a non-smoker. After 27 years of smoking it's way past time. I am actually buying my house back from my ex this spring and really need to get my head in the game financially.
So my goal for the next 10 weeks is no more vape purchases unless it's for Naut coils!

Welcome aboard, please... stay a while.

Sounds like you came to the right place as well. I think we have all went through this,... early on, unless you find somewhere like ECF or people like those from ECF IRL, then you have to learn the hard way :( but... it's nice to know that you could start saving lots of money pretty quickly once you are settled.

The issue now may be that you will get in to DIY Juice... possible RDA's/RBA's or even just rebuilding your coils, etc. Rebuilding your coils is a great way to save money and it pays off basically immediately. DIY juice has a bit more investment to it though.

Too Funny you mention that... I was just seriously contemplating using a coupon to get a start up DIY, by the time I chose all the flavors I thought I would "need" and everything else, I was over $150... wait I didn't get any plastic bottles yet:) I have well over 400ml of juice and at least 3/4 is stuff I really like so I decided that I would give it a while before I go that route, that was about a week ago.
To make matters worse last night I found a video on how to rebuild BVC coils and now I'm researching prices for kanthal, Japanese cotton (unbleached), a coil jig, a small torch, heat tolerant tweezers... My BF thinks I have gone off the deep end. I have about 20 BVC coils left, and over 40 coils for the aerotanks, so I just put everything on my wish list and wait until my supplies have dwindled some..
I am going to need help with will power, shinyites is definitely a weakness, did you hear there's an Istick Mini being released:p

Starting DIY doesn't need to be expensive, if you don't try to buy out the store....:)

A bottle of PG, bottle of VG and a bottle of nic concentrate.
A couple 3 mL syringes and a couple 10 mL syringes.
Pick 4 or 5 flavors that sound good to you. Find a few that you like, and build up your collection slowly.
Bottles...reuse the bottles from the pre-mixed you've used up. A mini post-it and some scotch tape to label.

Mix the flavors up as single flavors until you like the strength and flavor. If you want something more complex, mix some of the single flavor mixes together in a tank, see if they work.

I second what Stosh said! Especially about saving your bottles when you are done with the pre-made juice in them. You can save a lot of money not having to buy bottles, and it will motivate you not to let the pre-made juice go to waste. You said that 3/4 of the juice you really like....a lot of people actually start diy by taking the juice they thought was *meh* and doing some experimentation by mixing some of them at various ratios.

Well, I hadn't spent any money for a while, feeling good about it. Then came the sales on flavorings  I really didn't NEED all of them, but I would have spent that much on the ones I did need, without the sales. But I now have about a years worth! :p
Are there still any good sales going on?

There are still plenty of sales going on... you may want to check out Deals and Steals, but remember not to buy 'just because it's a good deal' ;)

a couple other good places...
VapingCheap<dot>com
GotSmok<dot>com

and...
Holiday Vape Sales

I have signed up for newsletters from many vendors... sometimes their sales have started and ended by the time you hear about them unless you get the newsletters.

I diy, use mechs, and rebuildables. There's an initial investment, but after that, you'll start saving pretty dramatically. Right now, my expenses manage to reach $1/day after adding a new rda clone or two to the mix.
,
btw, kanthal is cheap, and 25 ft could last you a year--handmade coils last longer than the premade ones. I use organic cotton balls, which cost something like $5 a bag, and will last forever. Regular tweezers do as well as anything else, and you don't really need a coil jig (though they could be fun!). I wrap the kanthal by hand around various-sized crochet hooks. A mini-torch is handy, but a lighter will do as well.

Nicotine is the one expensive item you can't do without, but a kilo will last years. VG is dirt cheap. Flavors last a long time, as you don't use much of them. Flavors are the tricky bits, as you won't know what you like until you try them. Once you figure it out, you can stock up, though.

Hey y'all, I got a vendor newsletter today with news of an amazing sale, good until the end of the month/year -- Electronic Cigarettes | Ecigarette Kits & Eliquids by Aqua Vapor Cig -- 25% off everything and free shipping! Coupon code holiday.

I posted this over in the vv3 thread, but then it occurred to me that this thread would be a good place for news like this. :D

I've been good lately, but still ended up spending about $40 -- thanks to a very unexpected xmas gift, it wasn't a problem. :D

2 flavors from bullcityvapor -- Inawera Shisha Strawberry is AWESOME
a new 18650 to replace the one whose flat top got dented -- from that awesome sale at AquaCityVapor
a 10-pk of cartos from IBT
a new 10ml of WTA from WholeCig

Regular stuff, most of which I needed anyway (especially the cartos and WTA!), but would have had a very hard time affording, if not for that xmas gift. ;) So big thx to my secret santa. :D
