Any batter can explode, but they almost never do. ...

This is True. Any Battery can Fail. And it is Extremely Rare that a Battery can Expplode.

But think of what could happen if you Placed a Battery into a Sealed Metal tube and it Failed? The Battery doesn't Explode but the Gases that the Battery Produces when it Fails causes the PV to Explode.

It's the Concept of a Pipe Bomb.

I don't know, just like I don't think Anyone knows, what happened to the Guy who's PV Blew Up. But it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that it was a Non-Vented or Poorly Vented mod.

---

BTW - After all that has happened, I got out a Drill and Opened up the Very Minuscule Vent Hole in the Cap of my LavaTube.

Before I Enlarged it, I couldn't hardly blow thru it. Now it is the size of the Vent Hole on my Provari.

For all we know it could have been an "EGO" style BAT. All the reports I've read have worded things differently which just confuses anyone reading it, even in the "quoted parts" so we really have no idea what he was really using. There's already a video up of some dude who had his EGO battery blow up on youtube. As you can see in the video this is one of the reasons NOT TO CHARGE YOUR BAT'S VIA USB IN YOUR COMPUTER:facepalm:

On top of that most peope that have vaped for as long as the 57 year old man (which was said to be about 2 years) prolly have more then one device. They said they found a charging unit. That doesn't really tell us much though. Could have been 1 of MANY units.

Basically, we are not going to say your Joye eGo is "safe". You have to do a risk/benefit analysis. Do the benefits outweigh the risks? For me they do: it's highly unlikely my PV is going to blow my face off, but it's highly likely that if I keep smoking I'm going to die a slow, agonizing death. But that's my personal view, yours may differ.

The equipment we use is "reasonably safe" and that's good enough for me. Joye makes good products with safety features and the same can be said of the Riva and Kgo. They are safe enough that with reasonable diligence I can use them without worrying about an injury.

I feel for the guy, but one incident out of millions does not a pattern make.

:unsure:Ok I left my new AW18650 bat on the charger for a couple of days, I forgot it, so should I throw it away cause it's overcharged? I have been vaping for over a year and a half but I am new to using mods and I had no idea that this could happen to bats that are charged too much. Seriously, I could walk out of my house right now and get hit by a bus, yes the busses fly by my house at a high rate of speed, but I have been living in this house for 16 years and it hasn't happpend yet, so should I move? LOL:?:

A properly working battery/charger combo will still the output voltage when the battery reaches it's desired charge. I've forgotten batteries on the charger for over a week, and they are 4.2 volts when I take them off, with is the max output rating of the charger. There is no need to throw it out.
