Title's just a joke, of course. One of the great things about ECF, and vapers in general, is that, for the most part, "whatever works for you" seems to be the prevalent attitude. But, reading around ECF, and going by what vendors are predominantly offering, it's readily apparent that most experienced vapers prefer manual bats. There's only one VV auto-bat that I'm aware of, one of the "box" thingamajigs, and there's only one auto-bat I know of that's over 3.7 volts, sold by "Vapor Girl", and it's one of the monster 1300mAh bats, too large for my tastes. So we auto-bat lovers are relatively limited in our choices compared to you manual guys.
I'd been using the 78mm auto Volts since I started vaping two months ago and while they are a great intro to the world of vaping, when you get to the point (which not everyone does, of course) where you want to start exploring other options to enhance your vaping experience (such as more vapor production, richer flavor, better TH) they are somewhat limiting in the choices you have as far as the juice delivery-systems, due to threading and voltage. (I've read that adapters don't work well with auto's, though I can't personally vouch for that.) So, I thought I'd eventually have to go to at least a manual so I could get both 510 threading along with higher voltage, and possibly even go to a VV device.
But before I left the SI brand behind, I decided to try their 650mAh auto X2. Boy Howdy! I took to it immediately. This thing is the perfect size for my personal preference - not too long, not too fat, not too heavy. It still has that "smoker's feel" to it that I love, in that I can hold it and vape it pretty much as one would w/a cigarette, or perhaps more accurately, a cigar. I find that with good quality juice and the CE3's I'm getting great flavor, excellent vapor production and, even with only 6mg nic, strong TH. (And for those flavors I like that lack in TH I've ordered some Koolada to try out.) I've also read that one reason many don't like auto-bats is that the draw can be "tight"; while I can't compare it to a manual since I've never tried one, I find the draw on the auto X2 - as I did on my auto 78 - to be just fine, nice and easy.
As an added bonus, if I correctly understand what I've read about them, the outer-threading on the X2 is "ego-style", so, when and if I decide I'd like to experiment with other juice-delivery systems, this opens up a whole world of possibilities.
Reading the posts here at ECF it seems the general rule is that many (most?) of us first start off with the cig-style auto-bats, to most closely simulate analog smoking as we are familiar with it, then eventually move on to manuals and/or more sophisticated devices as we come to desire a deeper vaping experience. However, there are some of us that are the exceptions that make the rule, myself one of them - I still prefer (need?) the smoking simulation. But, I also want to get as much as I can from my vape. With the auto X2, I believe I can eat my cake and have it - enjoy the smoking experience similar to the way I have my entire life, while also maximizing the vaping element.
So, to each his own, but you can keep your buttons, your VV's, your mods. I'm sticking with my auto-bat. Because that's what works for me!
