Don't Hate Me Because I Prefer an Auto-bat!

Title's just a joke, of course. One of the great things about ECF, and vapers in general, is that, for the most part, "whatever works for you" seems to be the prevalent attitude. But, reading around ECF, and going by what vendors are predominantly offering, it's readily apparent that most experienced vapers prefer manual bats. There's only one VV auto-bat that I'm aware of, one of the "box" thingamajigs, and there's only one auto-bat I know of that's over 3.7 volts, sold by "Vapor Girl", and it's one of the monster 1300mAh bats, too large for my tastes. So we auto-bat lovers are relatively limited in our choices compared to you manual guys.

I'd been using the 78mm auto Volts since I started vaping two months ago and while they are a great intro to the world of vaping, when you get to the point (which not everyone does, of course) where you want to start exploring other options to enhance your vaping experience (such as more vapor production, richer flavor, better TH) they are somewhat limiting in the choices you have as far as the juice delivery-systems, due to threading and voltage. (I've read that adapters don't work well with auto's, though I can't personally vouch for that.) So, I thought I'd eventually have to go to at least a manual so I could get both 510 threading along with higher voltage, and possibly even go to a VV device.

But before I left the SI brand behind, I decided to try their 650mAh auto X2. Boy Howdy! I took to it immediately. This thing is the perfect size for my personal preference - not too long, not too fat, not too heavy. It still has that "smoker's feel" to it that I love, in that I can hold it and vape it pretty much as one would w/a cigarette, or perhaps more accurately, a cigar. I find that with good quality juice and the CE3's I'm getting great flavor, excellent vapor production and, even with only 6mg nic, strong TH. (And for those flavors I like that lack in TH I've ordered some Koolada to try out.) I've also read that one reason many don't like auto-bats is that the draw can be "tight"; while I can't compare it to a manual since I've never tried one, I find the draw on the auto X2 - as I did on my auto 78 - to be just fine, nice and easy.

As an added bonus, if I correctly understand what I've read about them, the outer-threading on the X2 is "ego-style", so, when and if I decide I'd like to experiment with other juice-delivery systems, this opens up a whole world of possibilities.

Reading the posts here at ECF it seems the general rule is that many (most?) of us first start off with the cig-style auto-bats, to most closely simulate analog smoking as we are familiar with it, then eventually move on to manuals and/or more sophisticated devices as we come to desire a deeper vaping experience. However, there are some of us that are the exceptions that make the rule, myself one of them - I still prefer (need?) the smoking simulation. But, I also want to get as much as I can from my vape. With the auto X2, I believe I can eat my cake and have it - enjoy the smoking experience similar to the way I have my entire life, while also maximizing the vaping element.

So, to each his own, but you can keep your buttons, your VV's, your mods. I'm sticking with my auto-bat. Because that's what works for me!

Sitting down, facing forward.
I also prefer the auto batteries and keep six in constant rotation. I recently bought a manual 78mm to try it out and it lays on my desk, unused most of the time, and really is used to do some dry burns so I don't need a mirror to watch what's happening. I just don't like having to keep a hand on it to take a drag, autos are far more convenient and I admit to being lazy. As far as VV is concerned, I'm very happy with the amount of vapor and flavor I get out of a CE3 on a 78mm. I have looked around and have seen a VV with 808 thread that looks interesting. Problem is that it's a manual and I'm not that interested. Yes, I have a collection of X2s and use them, with clearos, while out mowing the lawn or driving, but like a manual they require a hand to be used or they fall out of your mouth eventually, even a 650. I guess, at least to me, vaping is supposed to be a substitute for smoking, not a project requiring your hand be constantly involved.

Besides, as smokers we all kept a pack on us, thought nothing of taking out and lighting up another one and, probably, had a pack or two as spare with us all the time. So why is having a spare battery and carto of some sort availabe such a "terrible" thing? Heck, even a full sized cigar has a finite of smoking time before you need to light another. The fascination and "need" for something that will last all day with no interruption of service escapes me. I guess lighting another cigarette was too much effort or something. Collecting toys is a fine hobby, but I am utilitarian about vaping, if it works and I'm happy and satisfied, I'm not going to fool with it.

I know the "purists" all insist that VV(Provari)/manual/mega tank is "the only" way that vaping can be done properly, by anyone at any time. Frankly, I'm tired of reading lines like that. Whatever works for someone is the right solution for them. Maybe that right solution will change over time for most but just because it works for you at the moment doesn't make it right for everyone or make their choice inherently wrong.

OK, down off my soap box.

7 days it will be four months for me. I have all auto and everything is going good.

If ain't broke don't fix it.

The way I look at.. There are many different tank options for the 510 threads... I have looked around. At the end of the day unless you are gonna vap 6 mls at one time I don't see the point of it. If it leaks you lose 6 ml... If my CE3 leaks, I loose 1 ml. Never has though.

Also I have found the draw on the autos to be airy. I have broke off the end of a tooth pick in all mine.

One thing if I remember correctly, I believe Outlaw said the Ego type stuff doesn't work well with the auto but they do with the manuals. I could be wrong but I believe there is a thread somewhere about it.

My wife was stuck on auto batteries for a long time. She would use my PV when it was convenient, and was always amazed at the higher vapor production. At some point she stole my Saber (touch button), and then took the Bolt. Glad that she moved over to 510 (no more having to keep both 808 and 510 stuff), but she still keeps her old auto in a PCC as a backup.

What is important is what works for you.

There is at least one guy on the forums that is making auto 510 box mods, with a built in USB charger, that are pretty cool.

The only reason I like the manual better is I press the button and it starts heating the juice. By the time I take my puff, it is full vapor and I don't have to inhale but can keep it on my palate and not fill my lungs. With the auto, I had to suck on it first and pretty much inhaled it along with a lot of air thus diminishing the vapor and taste.

I am a plume of vapor and taste junky. If you prefer less vapor and flavor, I say whatever keeps you from a cigarette is the best!

Even if I hate you

I have a couple of 78mm autos still, but I too have gone to the dark side of manuals in Mordor.

On the Ego threading - if it's just Ego threading then you'll be fine. Stuff that is 510/Ego will need an 808 -510 adapter. They are cheap enough to pick up tho.

Ok, turns out I'm a big fake. Just bought a Provari Mini.

So, about all that "auto's good enough for me" stuff? Never mind.

(Well, dammit, in my defense, you guys were killing me going on and on about how great the T3's were, and I figured as long as I'm going w/a manual, it might as well be the best!)

Wow, I've been testing the dark side water, but you really jumped right in. Let us know what you think about the Provari.

Will do. Believe me, I've been doing a lot of research the last few days of all kinds of VV devices. I like the size of the Mini (it's a bit shorter than my X2 650mah) and the button placement on the tube is perfect for the way I hold my PV. And of course there's the build quality and reputation.

Besides, I figure if I don't like it, it'll take me, what, 15 or 20 minutes to sell it?
