fairly famous video but thought i would post it here for those who have not seen it. guy charges his ipod with an onion and a bottle of gatorade, impressive stuff. if your ever stuck out in the sticks, could be invaluable info to get that one quick fix! 8-o
YouTube - How to Charge an iPod using electrolytes and an onion

in other battery related news...A new sensor system is under development that runs on electricity generated by ordinary trees. amazing article though it is slow loading cached version from the 8th. cant load the original.

also, looks like the makers need to start using the new super capacitator battery technology in their devices. coleman's are using them in some of their tools. they charge in 90 seconds and can be recharged 1/2million times!! which is close enough to infinite according to colemans. happy modding trog!

also if you're becoming flippant about the dangers of lithium batteries here's a quick vid to shock you into order.

You are VERY much correct Rat - If we were using Li-po's our charge times would be in Minutes not HOURS and would be a lot more capacity - BUT near a heating elment would be a VERY BAD idea.

I use these in my RC stuff but I have NEVER had one blow.

lithium ion and lithium polymer are different i believe. Not saying either is safe, but the polymers are much more dangerous.

I was considering a methane power source for my e-cig, but....I could not believe how fast that cow was when he saw the tubing and Vaseline.

He also looked a little heavy to carry around. Oh well, back to the nuclear powered idea. Anyone know how to get plutonium? (Just kidding, I know that plutonium is expensive, I'm NOT an idiot!)

:D
