Does these have a cutoff? I never really noticed because I don't take a full 10-13 sec drag or whatever.

I'm at work so I can't test this myself at the moment but today before work me and my roomates smelled something burning and couldn't figure out what it was...eventually it got stronger and when we realized it was the passthru that was plugged in to the laptop. The cart was completely melted. I thought these had a cutoff, maybe I'm wrong. It was a manual and was just laid on the table..the button stuck I guess because the battery itself is not heavy enough to put weight on the button.

I concur with Belletrist

I'm an electronics technician for 30+ years and know for a fact that electrical/electronic devices fail.

Do you know how many people's houses have caught on fire because the cheap little switch inside fails and turns on the toaster while their at work or out of the house?

eCigs are manufactured using the least expensive parts possible to maximize profits.

Best Advice:
Be Safe
Leave your passthru unplugged.

The latest passthrough I bought came with a big warning sticker on it, it says:

Unattended passthrough may pose as a fire hazard.

Never leave a passthrough plugged in while not in use.

Always remove the cartomizer from the passthrough between uses.

Mine did too... but I almost didn't believe it until I heard mine turning on by it's self. I was also see someone so excited to start vaping that they could miss the sticker.

This is a recent change in the packaging. None of my other pts had that sticker on them.

I always ordered manuals before, but my auto pt came with this warning on it. I just got it a couple weeks ago, I think. I don't know how long ago the warnings have been added.

My husband is an electrician, he always checks the toaster, coffeepot and anything else that is plugged in around here before we leave. Sometimes it makes me nuts, but I'm starting to do it too. LOL

I thought I also read somewhere that laptops weren't really great with the passthroughs as they're not strong enough? Did I make that up? Something about regular PCs being a higher voltage or something? Something like that...some techie please educate me.

Sort of on-topic, I just took a bit of a too-enthusiastic drag off my passthrough as I was reading this thread. I just about smoked myself out of my office! Jeez, this thing is powerful!!!! I forgot. ;)

You'll have to let someone with more technical computer knowledge than me answer this one, but while I was looking for a fix for a portable WD hard drive malfunction about a year back, one of the possible causes brought up was that certain USB ports - on some laptops, and certain desktop peripherals - didn't have enough voltage to properly run the HD, resulting in the disk drive not working; the solution being the usage of a USB cable with two ends that you plug into the USB ports, in order to draw more power from the computer. But that's all I can tell you...
As a matter of fact, I almost thought about getting one of those cables and trying it on my PT, but these last few weeks my passthrough kinda fell out of favor, and I hardly use them anymore...
