I've been a "heavy smoker" for the past 37 years, but for the last 15 years or so, I've smoked "light 120" cigarettes. I thought that the juices in 12mg. would be enough nicotine for me. I like the flavors better than the analogs, but I don't seem to be getting my fix. I'm waiting for a few flavors to come in at 18mg. If this is not enough, I'll go to 24mg. I figured out that, that if the higher mgs. are too much that I can cut it with lower mg. flavors that I have and are compatible. It's better to feel good about yourself when you go from a higher mg. content to a lower one, than to feel defeated because you couldn't survive on a lower "dose".

Co-worker found out that she had to start higher (I recommended it). I went through not being able to get the anxiety feeling to go away. I went up to 363mg and started down from there. I'm now down to 2mg in 8 weeks and 0mg while at home. 2mg is for when I have my Oh ....z days and want to kill my spouse...lol. Great man, please don't get me wrong, but sometimes death comes to mind when he forgets to do something that needs done righ away.

Conversely, there's some formerly heavy smokers of full flavor analogs that got high nic juice, couldn't tolerate it, and had to go lower. Fact is, the nic ratings on analogs are off of uniformly machine-smoked cigarettes and don't account for each individual smokers method. Same thing applies to the nic level in ecig juice.

I've seen on another thread where another guy that smoked the same exact brand and amount as me was satisfied with 12-18mg juice. For me, I'm using 24-36mg to zero out cravings. Everyone has a different habit and need so it's pretty much trial and error.

I vote for going low and working up, other's suggest getting high nic with some zero nic mixers to adjust down. Either way, variety is good.

I'm 10 days in with no analogs. The 12mg is working well for me because I find myself almost chain vaping. Figure it this way too....the lower the level the more you can vape to reach satisfaction. Also, a lot depends on your ecig device. I find my 510's do not satisfiy like my Phidias juice box which produces HUGE plummes to vapor.

A few minutes ago I was just showing some smokers are work how much more "smoke" I can produce than them with their analogs. LOL They were amazed!

I chain smoked to begin with and started with 24mg. When I used that the way I would smoke I was overdosing so had to cut down to 16-18mg. I'm back down to about a half a pack a day (from 3) now. Going to throw some 36 and 24 juice in the mix at specific times to see if I can cut the rest out now that I have my hardware issues addressed.

Careful with the higher nic levels- remember you're quitting smoking and there are some 4000 chemicals you are giving up- many of them compliment nicotine and are put there intentionally to keep you craving more - inother words, as we all know, the addiction to smoking is not just nicotine. If you find yourself unable to fall asleep at night, you are probably getting too much .... I was a pack a day marlborough lights smoker for 30 years... I found 12-18mg to be enough when i stopped smoking but still went through a rough time the first few weeks (finally just went cold turkey after trying unsuccessfully to wean off) ... you still need to drink alot of water and follow alot of the generally accepted "best practices" to quit smoking.

I started with 18mg and found myself quickly moving to 24mg. I found that with 18mg I wouldn't put my PV down and pretty much chain vaped. The higher mg gave me the ability to put down the PV.

*is confused*

"put down the PV"?

What does that mean?

I try to wrap my brain around this statement but it just refuses to make sense. Perhaps it's some foreign language I'm not familiar with...

Put it down. As in, take the Personal Vaporizer out of your mouth, set it on the table, and step away. Just for a little while.

yep- there's a fine line between not quite satisfied and being able to walk away for an hour or two without going nuts... also, beware that there are lots of inconsitencies betwen juices... one of the criticisms of the industry is that nic levels aren't always as labled .. add to that variations caused by different ratios of PG and VG, the source of the nic and the power you are vaping at, and its difficult to compare - unless you mix your own juice... just be careful tweaking to higher levels of nic, and bump it up just a little at a time and over a good period of time.

If you did a poll on this site and ask vets what they needed to switch completely, 90% would state they needed high nic levels, not lower ones. Since you can easily reduce the nic level of liquid but not make it higher, it's more effective to tell new members to start out at 24mg and then go up or down based on their personal experience after a couple of weeks. To me this makes it simple, does not confuse people and has the higher probablity of success.
