"First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" sung by Pete's sister, Peggy Seeger. Written in 1947 by Peggy's husband, the Scots folksinger Ewan MacColl, for Peggy when they were courting. Ewan never liked any of the many covers of this song. When I heard him sing it I was shocked by the rapid tempo. I was used to the languorous rhythm of Roberta Flack on this one. Ewan just shot right
through it like he wanted to tell his girl something important but was kinda embarrassed.
It's hard to find a version of the song that isn't just sloppy-sentimental.
Try this one on.... Ah, the 60s....earnest liberal white folks trying so damn hard to be real humans. We didn't get it, and by the time we did, we were old.
Or this one...hey! A triple shot, maybe a first for this
thread! Johnny Cash does a good job on it IMO.
