Doublechecking before ordering and mixing.

For safety and clarification, I wanted to post this here before ordering my first DIY supplies.

I'm planning on ordering a 30ml bottle of 100mg VG nic. I will buy 120 ml of pure, no nic PG for dilution as well as a few Flavourart flavorings, pipettes, and rubber gloves for handling the 100mg nic in case I spill some on my skin.

For a 30ml bottle of 20mg strength liquid, I will need to use 6ml of the 100mg nic and 24ml of the PG. Not sure what amount of flavoring to add, but will look that up because I know there is a list of FA flavorings and percentages as well as calculators.

So that 30ml bottle of 100mg nic will make me 5 30ml bottles of 20mg strength liquid. Since I will need 24ml of pure PG for dilution, that means I need to purchase 120ml of pure PG.

Also, using 6ml of VG nic base to 24 ml of pure PG will give me a final product with an 80% PG/20% VG ratio.

Is all my math correct? Thanks in advance.

I understand based on the amount of flavoring I use that it might be 22 ml PG, 6 ml of the 100mg VG nic, and 2 ml flavoring, this is just my basic math. As for using 100mg base, I have no children in the home and will be wearing gloves and sitting at a table while measuring to avoid spills and keeping the bottle stored securely, as well as measuring using syringes/pipettes. Just wanted to throw that in there.

Couple things I did notice.
1) Might want to think about a face shield. These are real cheap at Harbor Frieght and if anything splashes, I'm more worried about nic getting to my eyeballs, mouth, and inside nose than I am with it getting on my skin.
2) Unless you are talking about glass pipettes, or you have a graduated cylinder to calibrate your plastic pipette drop size, I would take your final nic content calculations with a few large grains of salt. I don't have glass pipettes and mix in bottles, so I always use a syringe for my nic and non-nic base. (I really like the oral dose syringes at Walgreens near the pill reminder boxes myself.)

I'm ordering syringes, not pipettes. Thought about that right before I read your post. Will take the face shield recommendation into consideration. Going to feel a bit like a mad scientist, lol. Thank you.

One thing I forgot was sweetener. Two of the flavors I ordered are fruit flavors; not sure if I will need it or not. Oh, well. Ethyl maltol is what I would use if I need my liquid to be sweeter, right?

Yes or stevia liquid, you can get EM in either crystal form or already diluted as cotton candy flavor from TPA (not circus cotton candy)


I have used both cotton candy and stevia and can say that cotton candy (CC) is far better then stevia. Stevia was not very friendly to my coils gummed them up pretty fast.

Math looks good to me. Flavorart's flavor are pretty strong to me, and I usually end up around 2-7% with them, depending upon the flavor.

I like sucralose sweetener. Have not tried any others, though.

Is this //www.amazon.com/EZ-Sweetz-2oz-Liquid-Sweetener-Servings/dp/B002MO765O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331862761&sr=8-1 what is meant by liquid sucralose? I noticed this has some preservatives in it and wanted to make sure it was the proper kind.

I got my sweetener from GoodProphets (30ml size.) Here's the manufacturer's page:

As I look at that, I see that there are other 'artificial flavors' added, so I'm not sure what that is... Sucralose is terribly sweet, so this is a very diluted mixture, and I only use 1-2 drops per ml.

I've heard others mention Splendex, which comes in a bottle. I've never seen it in a store.

I was looking through some older threads on sweetening liquid, and saw someone mention EM worked well for tobacco flavors and that liquid sucralose worked better for fruity flavors, so I thought perhaps I would try both. I know a few eliquid sites sell it, so I will probably try to go that route first so I don't get myself into trouble, lol.

Yes, that is the general consensus. EM is great with tobacco mixes as it helps to round out the different notes and adds a bit of sweetness. Sweetener is better for the bakery and fruity juices. Sometimes using both is needed just depends on what your tastes are.

Been looking through a lot of threads and I have a feeling this is going to be like when I first started vaping and was trying tons of flavors from tons of companies for pre-made e-liquid. I already have a shopping list for next pay day. Going to get some sour, sweetener, and cotton candy from TPA as well as some flavors from other companies. I need to stop looking at flavor reviews ! My initial supplies should be here Monday, but since I don't have sweetener yet, they may have to wait before I can play with them. Thanks to those that have replied to this thread.
